VFW Post 1782

Arrived at 5 pm on Monday 10/23. 1st on the wait list for an outside table. Ordered some drinks at the bar. Good experience there. About 25 minutes later we were seated outside. Place was fairly crowded but not full. Only 2 waitresses. The one who sat us said she be right with us. Never interacted with her again. After about 15-20 minutes we caught the other waitress who apologized and brought us menus. Meanwhile at least 4-6 tables were seated and they all had food, most left before us. We waited over an hour after we were seated and about 40 minutes after ordering but the food never arrived. Had to leave in search of something to eat. Wouldn't recommend.

A nice VFW on the lake with good views. The food is very good and reasonably priced. I had walleye fingers with tots and we had a tasty Reuben sandwich. They had a special on a shot of Proper Apple with a free T-shirt included.

Excellent Rueben sandwich server here! Full of REAL corned beef, sauerkraut & decent 1000 island dressing! Relatively less expensive drink prices here (just go a few blocks to downtown WBL). Today I tried Apple Proper Irish Whiskey for $6 and got the tshirt as well! Guinness on tap! There's a nice view of White Bear Lake outside the window but it's still frozen-will come back in the summer for a patio lunch!

Coolest VFW I've been to in Minnesota ! They have meat raffles , pull tabs, pitchers of beer, and hamms glasses when you purchase beer. Activities for getting a quick beer. I've been coming here for a few years when I'm in town.

It was worth a try for breakfast. My husband's scrambled eggs were under cooked. The hash browns were crispy. I liked that, my husband not so much. The bacon was very tasty. My Denver omelet was fine, the peppers were nicely cooked. The pancakes were a little greasy. The setting was very nice, great view. I wouldn't go for breakfast again but I'd come back for a snack and a drink on the patio.

I'm giving this 1 Star, because EVERY TIME, and I mean, EVERY TIME I've been here, it is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS under staffed! I LOVE the remodel, by the way, BUT the the service is TERRIBLE! The food, on the other hand is solid, (I've never had a bad meal) IF your willing to wait FOREVER! Definitely avoid this place in the summer, because you have boaters coming off the lake, which adds to the wait time!

We have been in here a number of times but it had been a while so we recently swung in for dinner. This is a pretty standard VFW bar with a couple things going for it. First the view of the lake is awesome. They have an outdoor patio right on the lake. You can see the lake from the whole place. They definitely have some of the most prime real-estate in the White Bear area. The other thing going for them is the service. Very friendly, attentive but not overbearing. The food was standard bar & restaurant food. Their tap beer selection is a bit generic for me but hey, it's the VFW. Overall it was a good experience and we've made a point to not wait so long before our next trip.

I love this place!!!!! They pour a great drink, when you order food its always huge portions, and the service is great. Mostley bar food but well worth it, their prices are out of this world and you dont have to be a member to get in.

Amazing affordable, food is great, servers are smiling laughter is abundant. We can be on the lake if it's raining and not get wet

New interior is OK. New manual is about the same menu not manual. Staff is still great nice people. I would describe food as average except Thursdays. They're open face turkey is marvelous. I've been told lots of people like the chili. I don't know.
