Great food, great atmosphere! Batter-fried walleye was very good. Epitome of midwestern lakeside bar and grill.

Our search for a good area fish fry has ended!! We discovered Uncle John's Bar and Grill last night and left satiated and happy. Took a nice short drive out of Rochester and found John's last night. Our Server was very helpful, friendly and super efficient. We enjoyed a nice cocktail, soup and salad bar and delicious fish. The batter fried is all you can eat and the broiled is four nice pieces. More than enough food when you have the soup and salad bar and baked potato. Or you can choose French fries or au gratin potatoes . We look forward to returning the try the broasted chicken and other entrees another time. Saturdays featured special is prime rib!

Fun, good food, relaxed atmosphere, go by pontoon or car, views of Lake Zumbro. Bartender Madi is my favorite

There is only one bad review... As my old Dad would say "that guy would complain if he was hung with a new rope".... I do not know the owners so this is fair and honest when I say... The prices are very fair!...And some of the BEST chicken and fish you will ever have anywhere!...I also felt they pay GREAT ATTENTION to keeping the restaurant clean! More than several Rochester restaurants I have been in ... Last week, I nearly died of food contamination at Rochester Asian buffet ....But NEVER at Uncle Johns!.....ENJOY!- Frank T. Denny

Uncle John's is literally on an beaten path but worth the trip! For sure get an Bloody Mary they make there own mix. The broasted chicken is the best I've literally ever had, was so juicy and tons of white meat, most places don't have an salad bar but Uncle John's does, the soup they had on there the night we went was beefy noodle, had big pieces of egg noodle, big chunks of stew meat and veggies it hit the spot on an cold night before we got our meal. Service was excellent, the waitress was very friendly.

Uncle John's is a great place to eat, family friendly and great food, I would recommend to anyone. He makes his own Bloody Mary mix and it's the best I've ever had. Also the broasted chicken is a must try for anyone, you won't find better.

Best place to get a great meal! Totally delicious and consistently so! 10 beers on tap rotating gear round. Huge cooler selection of canned cocktails and Seltzers, and bottles of specialty beers and domestics. Go for the Friday fish fry or the daily specialty Broasted chicken! Or try the pulled ham sandwich! To die for. Gluten free buns as well! We love it!

We went there for the Friday fish fry was excellent. Only bad part about it was the heat in the dining room was 67 degrees. I have medical issues and had to wear my stocking cap and coat while eating. Otherwise it would have been five stars. Won't come back if it's cold outside, was 15 degrees out. I like to relax while eating, no relaxing this way.

Our Uncle John's experience was less than stellar. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. We had the chicken and it was so salty, I couldn't finish it. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich which she said was dry and obviously came from a box. The kids had cheeseburgers and fries which looked fine. I did enjoy the salad bar though.As for the help, it was lacking at best. There was one waitress for the entire restaurant and she was brand new. The gentleman preparing our food in the back did not appear to be wearing gloves while making the sandwiches. Hopefully his hands are clean. One other side note was they appear to wash all dishes by hand rather than via machine.As for the atmosphere, it was decent for a bar and grill. Fully stocked bar with typical college beers on tap. We did have a table full of drunks next to us that were swearing the entire time, not so great when you bill this place as a family restaurant.Overall, not impressed. It was expensive, the food was mediocre, and the help was lacking.
