My younger kid picked this. It's amazing for Kids and adults alike. Even my teenager liked it and was down on their knees playing with the toy layouts. We spent probably two hours here just pointing out all the tiny details. Our favorite was definitely the Lego layout just for all the cool little pop culture references, but the train layouts were still positively outstanding, especially for all the cool Minnesota details. Worth the $10 and far more. They change it up for holidays (Christmas and Halloween in particular) so we'll be back to see how it changes!

What a great place! Took the grandkids and it was a blast. We love Lego's but I never knew Lego's could take it to this level. The staff certainly has a passion and it shows in the care and time they take to share this place with everyone.

My son and I absolutely loved this place. The Lego train model was gigantic and filled with really cool details and characters. There were about a dozen huge model railroad tracks setup and all of them had interactive buttons for kids (or adults) to push.My son also had a blast in the kids play area. He didn't want to stop pushing the toy trains around the tracks they had there. We went during their circus train exhibit which was very cool too. It's $10 per adult so a very affordable family fun day.

The Twin City Model Railroad Museum is a fun and engaging spot, especially for kids who love trains! The only other museum like this I've been to was in San Diego, and it had many small, self-contained rooms set up for some of the realistic scenes; this museum has most of their displays in a single massive room, and the emphasis is more on whimsy than realism. Signs encourage kids to not touch the sets, but there are buttons everywhere enabling people to start trains or trigger other accessories to move, like Ferris wheels or planes. An adjoining room shows a train set build in progress. The gift shop largely consists of older model train supplies and books/magazines.When we visited on a Saturday, we found the place to be busy but there was still plenty of room to move around. I appreciated that hand sanitizer stations were everywhere--a good thing, as lots of hands are pushing buttons! The museum itself is in a strip mall that's in a larger industrial area. Parking was free and abundant.

I love all thing trains from the real trains to model trains so I had to check this place out. To my surprise it's a large space with multiple layouts with different gauges. They even have a Lego layout. The layouts have push buttons to activate trains and other features on the layouts. Parking is easy because it's in a strip mall.

The Twin Cities model railroad museum is a great place to take little kids. They can drive the trains. they could play hands-on PlayStation to create their own trains and has an adult, who's enjoyed watching them. There's a new thing to watch and look for. it's perfect for someone who loves to view model trains.

Attended the holiday Night Trains exhibit 2-years ago and finally getting my review in. TC Model Railroad does a beautiful job at advertising via newsletter emails and social media so I feel like I am able to attend all the events that speak to me. For example, there has always been a Halloween train exhibit and my goal is to make it this year along with the holiday Night Train exhibit. Based on my experience, I loved being able to walk indoors during the cold winter months and have the magical feel of trains zooming around with illuminated tracks. While I don't have kids, I have heard many children are drawn to trains and therefore, I would highly recommend making a field trip here. The facility is clean, the staff is friendly and tickets can be purchased online in advance and then using a mobile device to enter. Thank you for the history and education! I look forward to the Halloween one in 2024!

I have no idea how I have driven by this place tons of times and never knew it existed. We brought the kids here with another family and the kids were in a trance the whole time. They were completely engrossed. It is not hard to believe how much they liked the place because there were tons of trains with little model towns and cities built up and the trains running around them - a lot of meticulous detail went into this place. Also, there are buttons the kids can press to operate some of the trains, which is also a hit with 2-6 year olds. This place should be on your list for winter weekends.

Amazing museum. The price is very fair to get in, in fact I would have happily paid more! It's clear how much love has been put into making this museum what it is. My partner and I had a great time, we were worried we may not be the target demographic, but we were happy with how much there was to read and how interactive some parts were!
