The Van Dusen Mansion

My wife and I were invited to a Sunday night dinner at the Van Dusen Mansion. They had a wonderful outside ceremony with about a hundred people. After the ceremony with a string quartet, which was way cool, we went inside to the beautiful mansion. There were two open bars, so I met a friend I hadn't seen in 8 years and my wife and I talked with him for about three hours.Not the best selection of beers ever, Summit Pale Ale and Fulton Lonely Blonde were the best. I had 4 of them. The food was served in a separate room and I ordered the beef with red wine over mashed potatoes, but my wife is a vegetarian, so I got her chicken. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars is that was food was barely warm. My wife's chicken was delicious and my beef with red wine sauce was good, but it was almost cold.The salad was nothing special and it came out with dressing, so my wife couldn't have it.The place is awesome, but the coldish food was a turn off.

The Van Dusen Mansion is A-mazing! The aesthetics of this venue are definitely one-of-a-kind, the location is perfect, and the A'Bulae and Mintahoe team were great to work with from start to end. I'd like to give Monica (Venue Director) a big THANK YOU for all of her hard work the day of our event. Honestly without Monica, I can't say the turn out would of been as great. Her work ethic and attention to detail is exceptional! I hope A'Bulae truly understand what an asset Monica is to their organization. In addition, the catering and bar staff + security all did an incredible job, so thank you ;-) If you're looking for a venue experience unlike anything else in the Minneapolis area for your event, we highly suggest checking out The Van Dusen Mansion and asking for Monica. I went to The Van Dusen for a special event. This is a great space with a lot of areas to explore as well. It looks like a castle and is situated close to downtown Minneapolis. The evening started out in the mansion itself and then moved to the Modern Ballroom for the rest of the evening's seated event. The staff on hand were friendly and very professional. The mansion is a beautiful space that I would definitely recommend checking out!

This is definitely the best wedding spot in Minneapolis. The Van Dusen Mansion is a stunning place to have a wedding, and their process is unlike any other venue. Being able to progress through the grounds was a huge hit with our guests, and everything was immaculate. I'm so excited to get our pictures back! Christy was a lifesaver and walked us through everything we needed to know all day and really kept things running smoothly when we ran into some obstacles.The bridal suite was beautiful and spacious enough for my four bridesmaids, the moms, and all of our supplies. The groom's lounge was a great place for the guys to relax before the venue and for the guests to explore during cocktail hour. The carriage house was the perfect dance floor size and having two levels, one for dancing and one for drinking/lounging/watching, was a great setup. Outside of the rooms that guests saw, there were even more rooms perfectly set up for gorgeous pictures of us and our bridal party. Van Dusen really has it all: it's a beautiful venue and its staff is very good at what they do. Booking the Van Dusen Mansion will save you a ton of stress and will leave your guests in awe.

I wish I could give this wedding venue more than 5 stars! I absolutely love this venue! My wedding pictures turned out amazing and my wedding day was stunning! I love the flow of the event and how you can go into different parts of the mansion as the day/night progresses. It keeps guests on their toes and excited to see where they go next for the event. The event staff was also amazing and treated me very well! This venue does book fast so if you want it, you should check it out and book a date as soon as possible. My wedding date was 7/7/17 and I booked the venue 3/1/2015. If you book your wedding here, you will not be disappointed.

I recently attended the grand opening of The Van Dusen Mansion and was thoroughly awestruck by the attention to detail that make this historic space a study in opulence. The main house is exhilarating to walk into. The rich woods, exquisite textures and colors give the sensation of walking into a different period in time. If you head downstairs to the basement, you enter a homey space that is ideal for intimate meetings. The three rooms on the second floor are luxurious and each transports you to a different place in the world. My personal favorite was the jewel toned room that set the mood of an exotic Moroccan night. Just outside the main house is an enchanting courtyard. It would be perfect for an intimate wedding or a fabulous outdoor celebration. The carriage house, behind the main house, is a fabulous space for a multi-level event. With the top floor overlooking the main floor, it would be a marvelous space for a dance or reception. The third building of the property is a newer addition which is a great space for a seated dinner during an event. The food was spectacular. The service was outstanding and attentive. The owners were gracious and thorough in attending to every detail one could anticipate. It left no doubt in my mind that any event at the Van Dusen Mansion would be carefully planned, exquisitely executed, and forever remembered by anyone who attends.

DO NOT PARK IN THE PROVIDED SURFACE LOT. Was here in June 2024 for a friend's wedding. The venue itself was fine. But in between the dinner and the first dances, we began to discover that 10-12 cars in the adjacent surface lot had had their windows smashed in and a few items were stolen. Later we learned that the exact same thing had happened the previous day but the venue didn't warn us or place any extra security in the lot.The staff did their best to help sweep up glass etc. but the damage had been done. Extremely disappointed as it cast a shadow on an otherwise great day.

First class all the way. We had a wedding reception there and the layout, the staff, the food, and everything else were exceptional. The desert/dancing/party location called the carriage house is unique and perfect for a small to medium wedding. My only complaint was the cost of everything was high, and they nickel and dime you on everything but I think that's the case everywhere when you mention the word wedding

I recently got married at the Van Dusen, and I could not have been happier with my day.I planned my wedding from Austin, TX, and I was very worried about getting everything done the way I wanted it from a distance. I searched A LOT of venues online, and I got to see my favorites in person. The second I walked in to the Van Dusen, I knew it was the place for my wedding. I really wanted my wedding to be unique and special, and the Van Dusen has so many things other places don't. Every inch of the venue is gorgeous and elaborate, so I didn't feel the need to bring tons of decorations in, just little touches to make things more personal. Additionally, the venue has four separate areas, a courtyard (for the ceremony), the mansion itself (for cocktail hour/getting ready), the event center (for the dinner), and the carriage house (for the dance). Those separate areas meant everyone was always together in the same areas together all the time, so it felt very close. And that's just the venue itself.The staff at the Van Dusen is INCREDIBLE. There was not one person that we worked with that didn't go above and beyond to make the day perfect. Elizabeth, the catering representative for the Van Dusen, and Jennifer walked me through every step of the process and made sure they understood what I wanted (even when I was confusing and changing my mind constantly). My biggest concern in finding a venue was how I was going to find place settings and linens and chairs and make sure I was there to set them up, because I didn't have enough time in town to do all of that. Not only does the Van Dusen have options to be able to use for EVERYTHING you could need for a wedding, they make sure the bride doesn't do ANYTHING the day of, so I got to just relax and enjoy my day. They even set up my centerpieces for me, which was not an easy task since they were all different!Most importantly, they took all the stress out of my wedding day, so I didn't have to freak out over anything, I just got to be with my guests and my husband and enjoy! I trusted them 100% to make my dream happen, and they delivered a better day than I could have imagined.
