The interior of the old bank could be a cool aesthetic, but it seems to be merely a shell space used by a local dive bar. Ordered food ahead of time for pickup, and upon arrival they could tell I was picking up because I was the only non-local there and also the only one wearing a mask. They didn't take my wife's name over the phone, but it was the only takeout order they had waiting so it doesn't seem like people call orders in at this place very often. On the plus side, our food was ready in less than 15 mins. As far as the food goes, the burgers were quite delicious and came with chips which were unadvertised as part of the price. The chicken strips & fries basket was a child sized portion, which was fine cause we ordered it for a child, but an adult may be let down by how much was in the container. The jalapeño cheese poppers were so so, but the deep fried mushrooms were very tasty.

The Old Bank. Wow. What to say about this place? Definitely a dive bar. The crowd varies a lot depending upon when you go there. Weekend afternoons, it's typically a mix of bikers, tourists, and the boating crowd, with a sprinkling of locals blended in for flavor. Don't let the biker thing scare you - these aren't kitten-shanking, hell-raising hard core bikers we're talking about, but middle-age Harley enthusiasts who are far more likely to spend their days running construction crews or spreadsheets than drugs. Ok place to take your family for a quick burger in the afternoon or evening. After 9:00 pm, the bros take over, especially weekends, and you're better off finding someplace else. The interior is definitely worn to a fine patina, and decorated with typical bar kitsch and local memorabilia. There is a pool table, a few dartboards, some arcade games, a bunch of TV screens and a jukebox to break the routine, if you're determined to make an evening of it. They offer a full bar, and that includes several beers on tap. The help is friendly - most of them have been there forever. They do a pretty good job, but things do get busy sometimes. The menu is modest - all pretty much your typical bar and grill food. Feeds the need, but nothing to write home about. The burgers, for all that, are actually pretty good, and I'd probably call them the highlight. The ground beef comes from Huettl's Meats, our local butcher shop that's just up the street, rather than a shrink-wrapped plastic tube of god knows what from some restaurant supplier. The kitchen is open late, which is a good thing in a town where pretty much all the eateries close at 8 or 9 pm, and your only other choice is the gas station convenience store heat lamp buffet.

The burger was a much needed meal. Perfect amount of seasoning , cheese options and perfectly crispy bacon. Most of the locals here are the cooks and bartenders for the other local restaurants and bars.

seemed like a pretty rowdy bar full of local regulars that don't care much for fresh meat invading their space. So if you enjoy having a bar fight once in awhile this is the place to do it. The night I was there they had a parade in town and some club from the cities was there called the vulcans and they were all these old men dressed up with titles and for some reason the local ladies were acting as if bret michaels rolled into town to cast some new gals for rock of love. There was a small altercation and some words thrown back and forth --The guys in our group decided it was time to hustle their ladies out of here and we retreated to a calmer more lazy drinking environment. You probably won't dig this place unless you live in Lake City..

Stopped in after golfing at Frontenac tonight, was planning on eating here (glad we didn't) menu very unimpressive and made me feel like every thing on it was frozen. So we ordered a drink since we were there, dirt cheap drink prices but that didn't make up for a man screaming "Shut the fuck up!" to his 8 year old son (why was there children in a bar after 8 pm is my first question) and the bartender chuckled about it. The man continued to scream at his poor child who was balling his eyes out at this point, bartender still not doing a damn thing about it. We slammed our drinks and got out of here ASAP! I will say that the bartender was very friendly and easy to talk to, and seeing the old bank safe and what not was cool, but not enough to bring me back ever again.

Nice spot if you're looking for the dive bar vibe with a jukebox, pool table and darts. My wife and kids enjoyed the burgers which I thought mine was just okay. Wish there was some somewhat healthy like a grilled chicken sandwich and decent house salad. We visited several places in Lake City last weekend and feel like we struck out on food and there's no where to get coffee but the lake itself is a sight to see in MN. :-)

First off...this is a straight up DIVE bar. They use fresh meat for their burgers and they are excellent for the price. It's not often you can find a $6 bar burger anymore but you can here and it's very good. It's family friendly during the day and tourists/boaters come in all the time. You may hear a foul word or two depending on the day so if you have kids, and that bothers you...you may want to avoid but 95% of the time it's fine. If you're looking for fancy, this ain't it. It's a 5 star DIVE bar, not a place For you if your nose points to the ceiling. After dark....use discretion. It can get a little rowdy/methy in there. You're not going to get stabbed, but fights have been known to happen. I like the happy hour crowd during the day. Very friendly people and the owner is often around. He's great to visit with. Buy him a shot of Dr. and he's your friend for life.

Dogfood! They repetitively ask about how good the burger is, because they know they have an inferior product. Unfortunately they solely pride themselves in their burger. Dogfood!
