The Book House In Dinkytown

I visit a lot of used bookstores, and this place has one of the most excellent History sections I've seen (even a substantial selection of books on Historiography). Probably has a lot to do with being adjacent to the University campus. Also tons of fiction books, novels, foreign language, new releases, pulp paperbacks, and local fare. The employee working at the time was friendly and approachable. And best of all-- Book House smells like a used bookstore is supposed to smell! Like dust jackets and memories. Gonna make it a fixture of my next visits to Minneapolis.

Ordered one used book, Java a Garden Continuum, 1974, which came in outstanding condition. The packing was the best I have ever seen for a book. If you want an old book, try the Book House.

We recently ordered a book (I believe through another service, but I'm not sure which one) and The Book House In Dinkytown people packed it for shipping INSANELY well. That book was CHERISHED before it arrived and was protected so well I don't think the legendary Samsonite gorillas would have made a dent in the multiple layers of mainly recyclable packaging. I can't say enough about how happy I am with the service. Next time I'm in Mpls I will be going up here to express my appreciation in person. Yay! Oh and the book is really good, too, but I'm kind of afraid to read it now because it's currently in perfect condition ... ! ;)

I love everything about this place. Great, knowledgeable employees, an amazing selection of books and the record section is small but mighty. I hand to fight to keep myself from going there on my days off to keep from spending money. Hooray!

By far, the coolest and best book store I have ever been to. They have a phenomenal selection for all kinds of topics and great prices.

I've known the Book House since the late 1970s, when it was in its previous location. Most notable to me for several things. Scholarly emphasis rather than frivolous literature. Good turnover of stock, I always find something new. And that means they are actively buying the right sort of books in good condition, and you can choose store credit, which I usually do, if I have something to sell. This kind of bookstore used to be common in university towns nationwide but has become much rarer nowadays. I never fail to stop by the Book House when on Campus, and you should, too!

Located upstairs above the Chinese Food restaurant this place is cozy and stocked full of books for your perusal. I parked out back and walked around. This was my last stop on my bookstore tour for my travels and I was able to find 2 #youngadult books with strong African-American females as the protagonist. I grabbed a few bookmarks (as I like to place them in my #bookfairy drops) and called it a day.Service was enthusiastic about my visit, which is always a nice surprise.Respectfully Reviewed

Never fails to impress. Set just above Shuang Cheng, Bookhouse provides an impressive collection and affordable prices. It's selection is so vast you may want to set aside 40 minutes to an hour just to make sure you get the most out of your trip. The prices are also fair, and often well below retail. Good rare book selection as well. Also note that they focus mostly on educational books and literature, so it is not the place to get the newest romance novel! Overall fantastic place, and I highly recommend supporting this small business if you're in the neighborhood.

The kind of place that rarely exists these days and only exists this way because it's been around long enough to curate/collect such a rare inventory.
