Pros: * The pastries we tried were reasonably fresh and tasty; 3.5 stars.* The donuts are huge! Getting 12 felt more like 18. :)Cons: * Selection is limited.* Hours are limited: Tue-Sat, 6a-1p.* Current owners bake nothing onsite, so pastries lose that delightful super-freshness. * Most items are prepackaged, which makes it feel like shopping at a supermarket instead of a bakery. * I watched an employee open a new pastry box and sneeze, then did not stop to wash her hands. She then attempted to use that box, but the customer asked for a new one. I hope the owners take a moment to review safe food handling practices with everyone! Summary:The bakery that housed this space for decades baked everything onsite, offered a better variety and a fresher, tastier product. They were open longer hours, and knew their community. They made delicious breads, cakes, and donuts, and ramped up production around the holidays. The current bakery is basically a kiosk for an existing shop in another town. It has lost that special magic that the old bakery had, that drew in customers from many miles away.

The small town, locally owned bakery, supplying fresh baked goods daily is something that is disappearing from the American scene. Cannon Falls is lucky to have such a place downtown. While in town overnight I spied the location on one of the main drags, and set out to visit the following morning to see what they had to offer. I was pleasantly impressed by the selection of baked goods that they had. I was like a kid in a childhood bakery.Everything, and I mean everything looked so tasty. And the girl behind the counter was very nice. I had a coupon from a book that was offered at the motel I stayed at, for a free coffee with purchase of any pastry. I opted for tea, so my cost for breakfast today was only $1.50.They also sell bread and other baked items. I hope the locals support this place. It is a treasure worth getting off the highway for.

Got a few different donuts, and they were wonderful. Got a fried crossiant? I think that's whhat she said. O M G. Best bakery item EVER! It was so good. Got 3 donuts, 1 fries cruises at and a cup of coffee, all for $8! Chocolate covered donut with Bavarian cream was great as was the whites chocolate raspberry jelly. It's weird. They have one advertising billboard on the highway but none after and no directions once you are off highway. You could hardly tell the name of the place with the billboard. But, I will work hard to find I it and I did! So worth the trip!

First thought was this bakery is just like the small town bakery from my boyfriend's hometown. I just love everything about it. From it's cute historical decor, delicious bake goods, to the sweet employees. If you come too late in the morning you might miss out on your favorite donut. But that's alright, because there's plenty to choose from in the case. Don't forget they sell breads too!

We took this exit on the way home and passed by. After breakfast about 11 a lot was already picked over. We needed bread. They offered buy one a second half off.I bought a grain and white. The white was still soft after 4 days. Super tasty on a tuna sandwich. We got chocolate cupcakes. They were better than a lot of others out there. If I had known I would have gotten more. Next trip.

Old fashioned local bakery in a small town. I don't think it could get any better. I was sincerely surprised at the great service here on December 24! They were open! And service with a smile. They weren't a lot of long Johns left (guess the locals got to em first)-so I have to go back & get one soon!

This thing happens when I walk into a donut shop where everything looks so tasty and yummy and I want to buy one of everything and just stuff it all in my mouth until I explode and shoot donut goodness all around for the world to share.Fortunately (or not) that's only happened once and the let down was so great that it forever haunts me and prevents it from repeating itself. Sort of.I saw a billboard for this place as I was driving to an appointment in the city. It stuck with me enough to intentionally detour on my way home to stop and pick up some promised Hi Quality goodness to bring back to my family. I managed to pick up quite a selection for not too high a price. The staff was friendly enough in the way that only bored young college students can be and the store itself was clean and small, situated in a cute little old timey downtown storefront. The donuts themselves were ok. Not especially memorable. Tastes like every other small independent donut shop that makes me wonder if there is some frozen donut wholesaler that they all buy from before thawing and decorating in their own version of overly sweet and hypercolored icing.Like most donut shops I've been to over the years, I would not be opposed to stopping by again if I happened to be there and someone else wanted to go, but I'm not going to go out of my way to suggest a revisit.

This used to be one of the best Bakery's in the area. I work in the cities and the people in my office used to Rave about how good the donuts were when I brought them in. Unfortunately the new owners changed the recipe that had been used for decades. They also eliminated several of the more popular donuts. Now they taste like any other donut that you would get from a gas station. Very disappointing.

Disappointing. I traveled from the twin cities to get a special treat for my granddaughter found the perfect purple frosted cookie and was excited to show her. Problem! When I opened the bag it was not inside. I specifically asked that all my items went into the one bag but they only put my apple fritter in the bag. The cookies didn't make it into the bag. So now I called the bakery and told them yes the lady was nice and told me that the bag was waiting for me behind the counter. Unfortunately I was now an hour away and couldn't just stop back for a two dollar cookie and I won't be back in the area until after 7 PM she was not apologetic at all for taking it upon herself to put the cookies in a separate bag and not tell me and not inform me as I was walking out of the store with my package one bag that I have another package with the cookies in it. and when I called, had no compassion that I was now without a cookie as a special treat for my granddaughter. Anyway I shared the large apple fritter with my granddaughter who still keep saying "where is the cookie". An I will be sure to let the bakery know the next time I stop that her disappointment was totally avoidable and hope they have a beautiful purple frosted cookie as a fresh replacement to the one that never made it into my bag.

A rare find these days is this old fashion style bakery owned by new management of 4 yr's who's philosophy is "quality vs quantity"...and it shows in appearance, texture & taste in whatever your watering mouth will want...All goodies are not skimped on & are still individually hand made...light - fluffy - True Textures that often melt in your mouth...A true hometown bakery that cares about what it sells, its staff & customers be they local or 50+ miles away in whatever direction...A definite credit to Cannon Falls located on HWY 52 half-way between Mpls / St. Paul & Rochester where I recently moved to...other CF Retailers could take a few lessons...Try It B C You'll LIKE it & let Mikey get his own...You won't want to share.
