Star Dragon

Very pleased with the food from Star Dragon. I called my order in and the person taking my order was friendly and helpful in selecting some of their more popular dishes. (Highlighted ordered on menu). Their delivery was fast and the driver was very nice and. All of the food was hot and well packaged. They did give me 4 pairs of chopsticks envelopes though I was just ordering for me but that has more todo with my problem not knowing when to stop ordering. The beef and broccoli w/ white rice were amazing. Very rich flavor with a good amount of meet to veggie ratio. Will be ordering again. Good prices for the amount of food you get. 10/10

My husband and I needed something quick and convenient. We got that but we're less than excited about everything else. Our order was for take out and consisted of: fried chicken wings, beef lo-mein, sesame chicken with fried rice, steamed dumplings, and cream cheese wontons. The chicken wings were the best thing we got. Chicken wasn't very moist, but it was decent. Cream cheese wontons were over fried and cold. Beef lo-mein was alright. The beef was really good, the noodles and sauce was not as good, a little sticky and almost old feeling. Like it had been sitting out. Additionally all the beef was on top, so we didn't eat much of the noodles. Sesame chicken was sweet, a very sweet sauce and the chicken was really dry. Steamed dumplings were alright, nothing exciting and came with no dipping sauce. I don't like dumplings when they are really dough-y. Overall really not impressed. It was cheap Chinese take out and we didn't go hungry, but we didn't eat the leftovers and weren't excited about it.

Star Dragon is the go to place for cheap, fast, great tasting (Americanized) Chinese food. The location is in a bit of a sketchy area of Minneapolis, but no worries, as they have delivery within a 4 mile radius.Their website is updated, and there are pictures of the food when ordering online. What is also nice is that you can choose between paying via CC or paying in cash on delivery. There is a small delivery fee, and a tip does need to be added. Don't be put off by the 1 hour estimated delivery time, the food usually arrives within 20-35 minutes from placing the online order (and we live 3.9 miles away, just within the 4 mile delivery radius).The food always arrives pipping hot, and is double bagged in both a paper bag, and a plastic one, with good reason. Expect some leakage from the containers as each container is so full, and since everything is stacked on each other, the plastic bag contained the leakage. Also nice is the eggrolls, wontons, and other fried apps come in a wax bag that preserves the crunchiness instead of getting soggy. Get the fried pork wontons. They are super crunchy, hot, and not greasy!The condiments are plenty, usually consisting of a handful of duck sauce and soy sauce packets. Good luck asking for the packaged hot mustard, it seems that condiment is always missing from the bag.Anyway, the food is good, huge portions, and you get white rice for free with every entrée. Plus no MSG! If you like your food extra spicy, that is a crapshoot. The spice level is usually pretty toned down to fit a mid-western palate. I just wish they would use whole dried red peppers instead of pepper flakes.So if you want fast, good tasting food, delivered quickly, this is a good go to place for Americanized Chinese food. Just be aware that their food prices have gone up some (as everywhere), but the portion size is well worth it, since you will have leftovers for the next day.

I'm on the grind to find the best cheap Chinese in Minneapolis, and the latest stop on my journey was Star Dragon.Located on Lake Street in a neighborhood that can be somewhat sketchy at nighttime to those who aren't used to city life (it's fine to me), it's your typical "hole in the wall Americanized Chinese spot" that offers a few small tables, but is mostly takeout/delivery business.I opted for the General Tso's combo, extra spicy. At $6 and some change after tax, you definitely had a full day's worth of food in front of you. Egg roll was lackluster, but the General Tso's had a unique super dark brown sauce that packed a little punch to it. The fried rice was packed with veggies, so I've got no complaints there.Not a bad spot to check out if you're in the neighborhood and want some solid, cheap grub. Go during the daytime for those faint of heart.

My one star review does not necessarily mean you should not eat here. There is a time and a place for this sort of thing. If you are on foot (no money for bus far, no car, electronic monitoring bracelet, etc.) out of your mind (alcohol, drugs, republicanism), or just down on your luck (could happen to any one of us), this particularly stereotypical bad @ss "Chinese" takeout is just the trick.I'm not trying to be snide. I do get takeout here from time to time. I'm not proud.

HUGE portions of food, lots of flavor, and quick and easy service. They over-drench the sauces, which can make for messy bags on pickup, but one entree can serve two with a side of rice.

The worst service the cashier was playing on his phone and I was talking him about the price and hi was playing not good service, In all the time that I was ordering he was playing I wanted drinks but I didn't ask him because I didn't like the service really bad

The food was solid and generously portioned for the price. Fast polite service and quick delivery. Alsosome of the best "american standard" chinese food ive found in the twin cities. A+
