We are new members and love this place. The staff are all eager to help and so friendly. We attended the Monday night water aerobics class and the instructor is awesome. She took the time to introduce herself to my mother and I, and gave us some extra attention during the class - knowing we were new. The locker rooms are well maintained and super clean! The fancy lockers don't require you to bring a lock. Looking forward to future classes here. There are a tons of families and kids all over. This is a community driven Y, not just a gym. And I love that.

I have experienced the YMCA of East St Paul. (cue victory music)$75 joining fee seems a bit insane, and so does the monthly $62 membership fee (then again, I don't have a job, of course it seems expensive!). However, you can go to any YMCA in the TCM on that same membership, so I guess that is cool if I'm ever bumming around up in White Bear Lake? They have a little track that goes around the fitness area and of course they have the aforementioned water slide that NO ONE appears to love. I'm gonna give it some love next time I go. So yeah, this place is .5 miles away from my house which is a bonus. Also, it appears to be really freaking clean. I set up my personal fitness consultation for next week and told the dood "you should just tell me I'm out of shape, and that will be the consult."Also, free juice and muffins when I left. You know, to negate all the outworking I had just done. Whatever, they were good.

I needed to go to a different "Y" with the elevator at Skyway down for an extended period. Skyway staff suggested the Eastside "Y".I was here for 45 minutes before being vexed by the loud and unsupervised kids running around the weight training area and the thug who refused my request to use the stationary bike even though he was using it only as a stool to talk with the guy on the next machine. I got back down to the locker room to find my locker had been broken into. YMMV but I doubt it given the indifference of the staff there and under the delusion they are not employed to perform a customer service function.Free parking is a plus!

My husband and I recently joined the YMCA. I teach yoga at this location on Thursday nights, and so far have had great experiences all around. The facilities are very clean, and most of the members are polite and courteous when it comes to sharing machines and wiping down mats, weights, etc. I'm loving my students in class and their enthusiasm, and look forward to meeting more people over time!

We were members for several months. We were called homophobic names, had women bringing boys WAY over the age of five into the women's changing area (we're talking eight year old boys or older), and we heard staff members discussing what all White women do that bugs them. ALL White women. Classy! People would sit on the weight machines and have conversations...NOT using the machines, just reclining on them and talking for 20 minutes. Older guys would hang out in the lobby bragging about gang activity while little kids waited for their parents. And staff just let all this go on. If you complained they would reluctantly get off their butts to do something but made you feel like YOU were the problem. What a joke! Spend your fitness money elsewhere.

I think there should be more security and change the open pool hours. Also, how many times do we as members have to pay for staff to quit letting people put scents on the rocks and in the steam room.

We go there so my child can swim in the kid's pool. It's very inconvenient now that they don't open the kid's pool until 6pm. Sorry, we would have to cancel our membership for now.

Love love love the group exercise classes. Mel, An'Nisa, and Laska are especially awesome. Highly recommend going to their classes. If it weren't for the group classes, I wouldn't have the motivation to go to the gym, but the classes are fun and challenging (in a good way) and I look forward to them every week. The lockers in the locker rooms have digital locks that you can set the combination to during your visit, and they're free to use. Very convenient. Everything is very clean and well maintained, and the equipment seems fairly new.Sometimes it can get noisy, but whatever, just bring headphones.

This YMCA Building looks beautiful from the outside, but creates a miserable exercise experience on the inside because it lacks inner walls. If you want some peace and quiet while you are using machines or free weights, forget it. You will hear the sound of Staff working with large groups of children speaking loud enough to be heard everywhere in the building in order to maintain control. At the same time you will hear all the noisy sounds from the basketball court which also does not have any walls to keep in the noise. Miserable set up. For Your Entertainment pleasure you can read posters designed to indoctrinate you in leftist Progressive politics. Naturally, the little children are being indoctrinated into so-called Progressive political ideology as well. Whatever happened to the Christian aspect of what the YMCA stands for?
