Hands down best authentic Indian food I've had in a minute! Kebabs, and curry were all spot on. Legit...not whitey Midwest style

We were staying across the street at the A Loft hotel, and popped in not expecting much. As soon as we entered, I noticed a rhythm to the way the staff was working the room. Super efficient, friendly, and around *just enough* to get you your food, with nothing more. And the food?! Wow was it fresh. Some of the freshest Indian flavors I've had in recent memory. The bread was piping hot and delicious, and the house made pickles were a punch in the mouth with flavor. Matar Paneer is a dish I will ALWAYS get when I have the chance, and Spice & Tonic's was a delight. Super clean and refreshing. Honestly everything was so dang good, and my only complaint isn't really even a complaint as much as an observation - they don't do hot very hot. We ordered on the higher end of their spice spectrum (1-5 scale) and nothing raised our temp in the slightest. I am not sure what the Indian food scene in Minneapolis looks like, but Spice & Tonic sure is dang good. If you're in the neighborhood, give them a try!

Was craving some Indian and had tickets to the Guthrie. This place came highly recommended by a colleague. It's walking distance from the Guthrie, just a couple of blocks. Service was so fast and excellent. Great selection of menu items. Restaurant was nicely decorated and the bathroom is shared with other businesses. Now for the food. We ordered: the beef samosas (4/5) large and full of ground beef. Surprised that weren't any vegetables like a little bit of potatoes. Nicely deep fried Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo, chicken Korma (4/5). All were delicious curries. Spice levels could be more accurate. They gave us a range of 1-6 and we ordered a 5 since we love spices and strong flavors. This is what we expect from Indian cuisine.Barely a hint of spices. They were definitely based on a Minnesota scale. Portion sizes were on the smaller end, barely enough to share. The naan (5/5) was soft, crispy, buttery all at the same time.Pickle mix (0/5) do not get! Tasted like acetone.Chai tea (1/5) tasted like warmed milk. Barely any spice to it.Don't think I'd return. I'm looking for stronger flavors from an Indian restaurant. But it's a nice date night, mild Indian food.

To split between two people, we got the vegetable samosas, chicken tikka masala, and of course garlic naan. It was all pretty good and plenty for 2. The patio outside is basic but nice for sunny days. The staff is all really nice and the food came out quickly, which was perfect for before a Guthrie performance!

We came in for a lunch at 12 and was served immediately. They knew when we were ready to order and when we were ready for the check. I got Dal soup and they even asked what level of spice I wanted. It was so good. I would go just for the dal. The nann bread was great and so is the mango lassi!

I went to first note that the bulk of items have gone up $1. Not significant, but just an fyi.Chicken Pakora: the first thing I noticed was the chicken was a bit tough. I didn't prefer this dish, but it wasn't terrible. It was good, just not my cup of tea.Chicken tikka: this chicken was also tough, but my partner got a spice level 2 and it wasn't spicy at all, so it was very enjoyableThe naan was terrible. Really dry and really thin. Only one side was buttered, and the naans at the bottom must have been left on a little too long. I loved the consistency of the lamb but the flavor of the chicken. I don't think I'd come back, but I'm glad I tried it out.

Great place for Indian food. The curries are very tasty and spiced appropriately. Their chicken biryani with somewhat underwhelming, however. We only got takeout so far, but plan to go back for a dining experience to see the service in ambience.

Downtown Minneapolis location with free parking during lunch (paid parking during dinner time) . Close proximity to Guthrie theater, Mill city museum and the Stone arch bridge. Decent food, good ambience and service. Ordered Chicken Biryani and chicken curry. Both were good, but not something I would go back for. Will definitely order again go back to try other items on their menu
