Slippery's

We love this place firmly on the Mississippi River. Home to Grumpy Old Men But I always bring my own. Great food and bloody Mary's. Outside dining in the water and literally watch the boaters and the Eagles fly, never had a bad meal or poor service. Staff is amazing and good is great. Parking is easy.

It was closed on Monday at 3:00 PM, even though it said it was open on yelp. Beautiful views of the bridge...

Hadn't been to Slippery's in a long time so we decided to give it a try. Parking was easy and they are on the river...that is about all this place has going for it. Walked into a less than half filled Slippery's and saw the sign 'please wait to be seated'...and we did that, we waited and waited. Finally a middle aged woman came from behind the bar and led us to a table...no hello, no warm greeting of any sort...she says 'You sit here' and kind of flips the sticky IPAD menu device onto the table, cracked screen and all. No worries, everyone can have a bad day, especially if you had to work at this place. There were a couple of waitresses moving around but no one ever came and took our order, never asked if we wanted drinks (we did), nothing...after about 15 minutes we cut our losses and exited. Horrible place that really needs to train their staff, will never recommend. Also, don't fall for the Grumpy Old Men merch they try to sell, in total violation of copyright laws. That movie was never filmed here at all. It's pathetic that Slippery's sells bootleg merch to rubes who fall for it.

This place is one of the best restaurants I've ever been right next to the Mississippi river great food kind workers and grumpy old men it was filmed a little bit near it so they got movies on the tv of grumpy old men 1 and 2 highly recommended

Well, when in Wabasha, MN.... AND just because we've all seen the Grumpy Old Men movie.... You just gotta stop into Slippery's !!! Though the movie wasn't filmed here... it based on some actual characters from Wabasha. No matter.... we stopped for a cold beer. Had a local Rush River Amber beer which was good. We also ordered the Walleye fish sandwich with fries and a side of coleslaw. Never had Walleye before.... It was actually very good. It was a moist, thick fillet on a hoagie roll......enough to share. They do have a fun shop to pick up t-shirts with "Grumpy" movie related things. Only thing.... It does need a bit of a "refresh" ..... it was a tad musty, but then, they are right on Mississippi River. If you get to Wabasha..... it is definitely a fun stop.

So yes we went here because we loved the Grumpy Old Men movies but it was an excellent bar and grill. Food was amazing. I had the walleye and my husband had the moron chicken sandwich, lol! The gift shop and the sales person was great, we spent $200!

The food was good ... not great. All of our side items were very cold. Main courses warm enough. Our waitress provided very good service. We had a belated Mothers Day lunch. 2 tables of 4 people on the front patio. We had just paid our bill and we were finishing up our lunch beverages. We were asked to leave, as they had other people who wanted to be seated at our tables. We were there a total of an hour and 15 minutes. Have never in my life been asked to leave a table like that. I am very conscious about not lingering after we are done if the the restaurant is busy. This was pretty rude and unprofessional. Upon leaving our table, we saw that there was an open table in our area and 2 more open inside. No line at the hostess. Probably won't be coming back to eat here.

Even with the inside closed due to flooding. The outdoor patio was open with great music. Great service. Cold cold beer!!!!

We went with 2 hungry grandkids. The chicken strip basket was was hard and dry. The Mac and Cheese was out of a box and microwaved ....dry. Their specialty of Pork BBQ ribs was dry obviously cooked hours prior. My shrimp tacos were primarily filled with coleslaw topped with 3 shrimp. All in all for $100 it was the worst meal we have had. Never again. P.S. the waitress did well.
