First time here (1/24/25)!Had the mushroom burger got it with Swiss and also had fries instead of chipsGreat service and I would come back again!!Love the ambiance!

Shocker I haven't left a review for here. This is one of the best hole-in-the-wall places this side of town. Burger prices (and the burgers too) are amazing. Beer and drink specials. The place is always busy, and if you know, you know. Soups? They're always house made. New owners have taken over and I know people were initially concerned cause change is change. But you know what? Things are all good and if you haven't been in a while, you wouldn't know the difference. A true hidden gem in Bloomington.

Shantytown was exactly what I wanted it to be. Dive bar vibe with good food, slightly growly waitress, and fast service. Three of us came on a Friday night around 6:30 and were seated immediately which was a big surprise, seemed like we beat the rush. Drinks: for the love of god, get the root beer in the frosted mug. So good, made me feel like a kid again.Apps: shared order of fried pickles. The pickles were pickle chips, not spears (if that matters to you). Hot and juicy and freshly fried. Traditional and satisfying.Dinner: I got the Reuben which was only okay. The pastrami tasted cheap and rubbery. The bread was pretty soggy. Next time I would get a burger because everyone else seemed to enjoy theirs. Fries were good. I'll be back. I know what to order now!

Visited 1/7/25. Shantytown is forever a hidden gem. Never skip on a burger here (I do the basic cheeseburger but they have fun unique options and specials too. They do a great job and have AMAZING buns. Such a fun dive with so much character and food that never disappoints. On this occasion got onion rings and they were nice and crunchy and golden. Bit thinner onions but they made for a not overly filling app.

solid dive bar and burger joint with reasonable prices. don't go here looking for anything fancy or craft burgers. they're meaty, greasy, and just plain tasty. pair it with a brew, and you've got yourself a quality meal.waitress was very personable and quickly fixed an issue with our order. the fries came out kind of cold and she brought us a fresh basket of hot and crispy fries.parking lot is VERY small, but there's plenty of street parking available.

I've been coming here for a while. Any other night I would hit all 5 stars no problem, but why the hell was the decision made to air a presidential debate made tonight with the volume turned way up? I could've made a big deal at the bar, but I chose not to. This isn't the right place for this.

The food was amazing! I had a fish sandwich and the fish was delicious. We had fried mushrooms and they were delicious. My wife had the wrap and they were able accommodate all her food restrictions. The wrap came out perfect and delicious. Our was very good and was on point to all the details of his duties. He was polite, professional and funny. When we are at shantytown it's like going to a relatives house to hang out and have fun

Always get friendly service and their creative menu and different specials keep me coming back!

Shantytown Grill is the best burger spot in town! Stopped in on a Saturday night and snagged a booth no problem. The service was on point. We were served our drinks and placed our order within 5 minutes of being there. Food came out fast and was freshly prepared. I ordered the Mexican burger and loved the jalapeños on it. My boyfriend ordered the pepper burger and enjoyed it as well. Tots are a must! Shantytown gives dive bar vibes! 110% chance I'll be back! Note: bigger groups aren't as easily accommodated, as the space isn't super big. Best for small groups!

This is the place to go if you want your private business blabbed all over town! I was there and heard patrons talking about other patrons. I heard one of the owners yell at a cook in front of other staff and patrons. The pulltab sellers like to tell other players how much you've won or lost. Food is meh..very greasy if you like that sort of thing.
