Cute ambience, with that trendy, newer look without feeling pretentious. Friendly service. They have some menu items that are not as common on your run of the mill sushi restaurant. For example, what I imagine they count as a house salad is the Asian felt salad. It has big chunks of cucumber that are fresh and fresh mango over fresh spring mixed lettuce. It was a great touch to the traditional Japanese house salad. The ginger dressing, which I got on the side, was the fresh variant that was less cream based in more ginger based. Together it was super tasty probably one of the best salads I have had at a sushi restaurant in a while. The next happy surprise was the salmon skin roll. The salmon skin was actual salmon skin. If you see the picture, you can see the skin peeking well out of the roll. That great crunch that I love from a salmon skin roll. Since Fuji -ya closed several years ago, and they were the OG to invent the winter roll, I have seen it pop up on many different menus around the TC. Sakana does this version better than most. Large chunks of fish, don't skimp on the fresh avocado that is not pocked with brown spots, and use a generous amount of the furakaki and tempura flakes. A dollar to pricier than other places for the same named menu item, however, I find it worth it.I would come back just for those two rolls and the salad alone. The tobiko sushi I got because I like to put it on top of the winter roll and sprinkle on my salad. Nothing special to say about the Tobiko, but hey, it's Tobiko.

Another great sushi experience - 4 stars!1. DECOR: First visit, my initial impression was that the restaurant is small, quaint, and beautiful. I noticed lots of little, colorful details that were really...happy and cheery. Speaking of cheery, they have a bar too.2. SERVICE: The service was excellent. My server was friendly, efficient, and totally on top of everything without being overbearing. Shout out to Grace - thank you!3. FOOD: Now onto the food... I started with hot green tea and I ordered some lemongrass soup with chicken. This was the first time I've tried lemon grass soup with tomato. Wow - it was awesome - what a great flavor combo! I also ordered 3 tuna based sushi rolls (see photos). They were exactly what I expected - good.4. LOW CARBOHYDRATE: It's easy to eat low-carb, keto, carnivore style at Sakana. I stuck with a low-carb soup and my usual tuna based sushi rolls. I avoid mountains of rice, big piles of noodles, added sugar, and anything that might hide vegetable seed oils. My insulin levels like it that way.5. CLEANLINESS: Finally, the restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms. I always check the restrooms these days because I've been horrified by a couple of sushi joints lately. Not Sakana though, the cleanliness seems to be on point. Thanks, Sakana!-Maxx

I went here with my mom for senior day and was overall quite impressed. We were seated quickly and our waitress was friendly and fast. The prices were a bit steep for the quality of the rolls in comparison to other restaurants nearby but overall the food was season 12 and had lots of good flavor. The restaurant from the outside may seem a bit daunting, but the interior is very clean and light. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant but just be worried. The prices are a bit higher than others

The menu is quite lengthy. There are a bevy of options so take a look at the menu before hand. Parking was pretty quick. So was the walk to the entrance. The ambiance was quiet and I didn't have to wait too long to be served. Calamari. Yum.

I've been wanting to try Sakana for years after reading all of the fabulous reviews and I finally got to after moving to the area. Sakana is good and I high recommend. The restaurant is quaint, well decorated, great seating at the bar and a lovely patio to sit in. The neighborhood is wonderful. As for the food we ordered the Spicy Edamame, Seafood Ceviche, Lobster Tango and Kingkong roll. Spicy Edamame was not spicy, it had the sweet chili sauce- it was definitely delicious. Seafood Ceviche was the best dish, it was bright, tangy and very fresh. Of the 2 roll, Lobster Tango was the best, had the most flavor. Both rolls very huge and visually appealing.I would go back and definitely recommend Sakana as a solid spot.

Solid spot for a sushi lunch. Service was good, ambiance was very chill. The roll were good and they came out quickly. A little on the steep side with most rolls going for $19-$23 but overall a good experience

Not bad, not great. The price is not terribly expensive. This feels like a perfect middle of the road sushi. I wouldn't hate it if I came back, but it's not something that I'd seek out. Overall, nothing special.

We were in town for an event, our friends brought us here for a farewell send off for an early dinner. We were the first ones there at 4 pm on Sunday night but as we found out the restaurant got busy and filled up quickly. The restaurant was smaller but was clean with nice ambient lighting. It wasn't too loud so we were able to comfortably talk to and hear each other. The servers were very friendly and personable & did an excellent job.Our friends ordered a couple of sushi boats that had various sushi's rolls, sashimi and nigiri. The plating was beautiful and all of the sushi were very fresh and delicious.Pricing was fair as the portions were good.

I was in the neighborhood and wanted to give this restaurant a try, and was excited. I ordered take out spring roll and miso soup to improve a difficult day. This is the spring that I got for $10. I would not recommend this place as it's overpriced and not appetizing.
