I've been over Hills and Dale to get this body
If I were a ridge girl
If I were a ridge man I'd work out here often
Plenty of ridges on display

I am a new member of the YMCA and love visiting. The variety of exercise classes available allows me to always have a plan for my workout and never need to venture into free weights or the treadmill area. I love the sense of community at this location and, like I said, the extensive group fitness classes. One feature I really love about this location is Kid's Stuff! Caretakers can bring their children here for some childcare while they work out, take a shower, or generally have a break from childcare. The parking lot is great, it's an easy location to get to, the facilities are clean, the staff is inviting. I love the Y!

Everything is new and clean. Big windows and friendly staff. I've been to several Ys and this is one of the nicest. They also have a cool wellness program--I did acupuncture

If it were Richdale YMCA, it'd be much more affluent than Poordale YMCA, but it's actually not Rich, it's RIDGE, so I guess that's a #Ridgefail on my part. This is a pretty good gym although it gets more than a little busy sometimes. It's in the far south suburbs of Minneapolis and looks kind of brand new compared to many locations. Plenty of good weights and machines that work well. Equipment seems new.The locker rooms are nice and the showers are okay. Getting in here wasn't too much of a chore although it wasn't completely straightforward. I liked it and would definitely use this facility again if I'm ever in the south suburbs of Minneapolis.

You gotta be an evil bastard to give a bad review to the YMCA. Joined the Y because my stomach is uncomfortably expanding and climbing stairs starting to be a chore. Love it! My kids can be watched by trained professionals as I torture myself for 2 hours. They have a large fitness center aka torture chamber. Basketball court, indoor running track, swimming pool, etc, etc. I feel good paying the membership fees because I know it will fund various kid activities and community development. You also get discounts on various Y sponsored activities. Facilities are clean. Separate locker rooms available for families. Fitness instructors available. BTW. If you really commit. Working out can be addicting. No lie. Or maybe I like torture...

Hopping place. Clean, that's about all I can say. I didn't join. I didn't feel welcome. Instead of being a place for everyone I was made to wait even though I had an appointment and I didn't feel welcome. I left after waiting an hour. Perhaps if I was a minority or from a different country I would have been welcomed. I grew up with the Y and know it's values. They didn't practice them on the day I had an appointment. Thought it was for everyone.

I've had Y memberships for 12 years now and after using the Blaisdell Y for most of that time I moved out to Hopkins 5 years ago and have been using the Ridgedale Y.They've update a lot of their weight equipment lately, as well as their cardio - they have the only kind of elliptical trainers that don't make my feet fall asleep, plus they now have the little TV treadmills and other equipment if you're into that kind of thing. Free wallet lockers or 1/2 lockers right by the fitness center, a sauna in each adult locker room, clean carpets in the locker room, and really friendly staff. The workout classes are tops - and I just took a Women On Weights class with Kayla in the fitness center - she we great! The *only* thing I'm not of fan of here is their summer program for kids - it's staffed by teenagers/young adults (as are most Y summer programs) and that age is just not mature enough to handle large groups of school-aged children in an appropriate manner - my kids hate it there... bummer! They do enjoy going there to work out, swim and attend Kids Stuff though - different staff!

I've been going here for a few years now. I've lost a lot of weight in part because of the group classes. I personally hate working out solo so finding exercise I enjoy was surprising.

Very friendly and welcoming staff! Well kept facility. Fun for the whole family. Very clean. We enjoyed visiting this facility while on vacation. Played racquetball, basketball, and the gym. I think we will swim tomorrow!

do not let your children go into the restrooms alone! don't even lock them into a stall while you go into another stall. random men walk into the family changing room and don't even knock..they just yank the door knob in an attempt to walk into a restroom. i was sitting right outside the door of a stall where my 7 year old granddaughter was changing after a swim and some man walked into the area and yanked on the knob where my granddaughter was. i had to yell at him to stop! the y doesn't monitor this at all. children are not safe around that place alone. MY USERNAME IS FROM SAN ANTONIO BUT WE LIVE IN MINNESOTA NOW. THIS REVIEW IS REGARDING THE RIDGEDALE YMCA IN MINNETONKA MINNESOTA.

GREAT Senior program! They have a lounge for coffee and chats and offer many classes geared for seniors including Silver Sneakers, gentle yoga and strength training. There are lunch-&-learn classes on health topics and planned games and outings every week for seniors. The workout room is well equipped with machines and weights and it's CLEAN and QUIET! Television monitors are tuned to different stations but are all kept on mute with closed captions (for those who just can't live without television for even an hour's workout.). Some machines have individual media outlets which one can select at will and listen to with earplugs. There are personal trainers (for a fee) who will help you create an individual workout program. The pool is frequently used for adult aquatic exercise and lap swim.At certain times of day parking can be a little difficult to find but, since people are always coming and going, with a little patience I've always found a spot.
