Update:We had another great meal. I had the butternut squash risotto and my sister the chicken sandwich. Add some wine and it was a really great night. Super wait staff and nice deck. What a great evening we had at Read's Landing ! We got there and were seated immediately- outside. A beautiful place to sit. We had very good food, and some delicious wine and bourbon. The servers were great and attentive. Very good

The patio rating is 5 stars! Beautiful setting on the Mississippi River. It's a cool old building built in the 1800s.Food was pretty good! My boys liked their burgers and fries kids meals but they were spendy! $9 and that doesn't include a drink - that $3 more. I had the shrimp and grits and they were tasty! We paid $12 for the garlic fry appetizer. I don't recommend it. The fries were really oily and the cost should have been half that for the amount of fries you get. It's a cool experience if you are in the area - especially if the weather is decent and you can sit outside! Free parking!

We were on a recent road trip through SE Minnesota and we stumbled upon this waterfront brewery and restaurant. Small Town community vibes made this spot a great place to hunker down for a lunchtime snack and sip!Fair amount of parking outside made it easy to pop in. The restaurant itself has plenty of bar and table seating, mostly facing big windows that overlook the river. Service was a bit slow, and we frequently had to get the attention of our server when we wanted anything accomplished. We just had the pretzel sticks, which were very tasty and came with fun, unique sauces! The beers were decent enough!

If you are going to Wabasha, for example to visit the National Eagle Center (see separate review), stop for lunch at this little restaurant in Read's Landing. The Restaurant is on the EAST side of Highway 61, right by the Mississippi River. (Note: The town of Read's Landing is on the WEST side of the highway, so you need to turn left (when heading south), instead of right.)I have been to this restaurant several times and it deserves five stars for views of the Mississippi River and of eagles during migration season. My wife spotted at least 10 out of the restaurant's large windows. The food is creative and the staff is friendly (although the food may take awhile to get to the table). I had the soup and salad because I wasn't very hungry and my wife had the Margherita Flatbread. She enjoyed the sauce, but thought the dough was too soft and perhaps undercooked. I enjoyed my soup a lot and it tasted homemade.I am docking them one star for how the meal ended. If I hadn't had better experiences previously, I would have given them a 2 or 3 star rating. After I ordered my soup and salad, the waiter came back and said that he forgot to ask if I wanted shrimp or chicken on the salad. There was something about him returning to the table and the way he asked the question that honestly made me think either was included in the price of soup and salad. When the salad arrived, I asked if the requested blue cheese dressing was on the salad because I didn't notice any and the waiter said yes. I figured it was buried or skimpy, so I asked for more dressing. The waiter brought out French dressing (I think). I then noticed that the salad actually had NO dressing of any kind so I asked him to bring me blue cheese dressing, which he did. When it was time to pay, I saw that I was charged $10 for the shrimp. Since they added only three shrimp, that was $3.33 per shrimp! Not a shrimpy price and especially because I thought it was included. (That's $4.33 PER SHRIMP with tax and suggested 25 percent tip -- see below.)Read's Landing is yet another restaurant to add it's own service charge that is "used to supplement employee pay" so 5% was already added when they brought over the check. There was an option to add an ADDITIONAL 20% or 25%. C'mon. That would be a 25% or 30% tip (on top of tax) over the additional service charge already added to the check. As always, you can select "custom" but then you need to do the math while the waiter is standing there with the machine.I hate the trend of restaurants adding some trumped up charge on the bill and THEN asking you for 20% tip in addition to that! Raise you price to what you feel is necessary to pay employees fairly and then leave it at that without asking for additional tip (my personal preference) OR don't raise your prices and let your customers decide what to tip. But asking for both is greedy, dishonest, misleading, and makes for an unpleasant experience.

Loved this little gem on the banks of the Mississippi River! Rainy cold night and looking for something to eat to keep us warm. Drove 6 miles to get here in the rain and it was well worth it! This is a converted little theatre and a great place to pop in for dinner. I must say it was pretty cold when we entered. We did ask if the heat could be turned up (or on) but were told that it was locked and only the owner could change it. That seemed a bit strange. But we didn't let it stop us from enjoying a great meal. We both ordered the soup & salad and wow! That soup warmed us right up! This place was hopping on a week night and our server practically ran to keep up. She was efficient behind measure and served everyone! Lovely little place. I'd go back the next time I'm in town. Cute, clean, and delightful!

What a GEM of a RESTAURANT in a small, out of the way place like Reads Landing. Took my out-of-town sister and niece to this place while site-seeing. I've been here MANY times, but not recently. I had ribeye sandwich that may be the BEST steak sandwich I have ever had! My sister had the salmon, and it too was AMAZING. The building oozes with history and sits right on top of the Mississippi. Trains come howling by frequently, adding to the ambiance. During winter months, it's PRIME eagle watching. But what BLEW ME AWAY this time was the FABULOUS FOOD and SUPER SERVICE. We will DEFINITELY be back this winter when the bald eagles are on the move! Thank you for a WONDERFUL time. My guests are still talking about it!
