We had a great time this weekend on the course! I was surprised how affordable and nice the course was as this was our first visit. We originally planned on just playing 9 holes but ended up doing a full 18 after hearing the twilight deal. We got a cart as well and it was one of the nicest carts we'd rented in a while - completely clean, no rips in the seat, great driving. The cart girl was friendly and drinks were reasonably priced ($14 for a shot and a coors) - my only advice would be to add more shooter options, only Tito's and Fireball is a rough choice for a tequila lover. The green was pretty well kept and all the other golfers on the course were friendly as we played. We will be back!

This golf course is a COMPLETE JOKE! Do not come here if you've reserved a tee time. We arrived at 7:45 am for our 8:10 am tee time and they miraculously lost our reservation. They didn't have it anywhere in their system even though we had confirmation over the phone. I saw that they did this to a couple of different people as well. There were a couple of ladies that had an actual tournament set up to play that drove hours to get there and the attendant claimed to not know anything about it. The staff here are incredibly unprofessional. I'm not sure how many people this happened to or if it's a common practice but it's completely unacceptable. I won't be coming to Phalen golf course again. Give Keller Golf Course a try instead!

This space is so great. It has 3 golf simulator rooms for indoor golf. They serve golf course food and drinks including alcohol. Drinks were reasonably priced. We sat inside during our kid's cross country skiing lesson. They have a variety of seating options and TV's in the sitting area. It was a fun date spot to have a drink and play a game without feeling like we needed to rush. Staff was friendly and helpful. This is more busy in the summer with the golf course. But would also be a good spot to grab a drink after walking around the lake.

One of my favorite courses. I grew up playing here dozens of times in the 80's and 90's. Was back a couple years ago and the course was in beautiful condition, better than it was back in the dayHUGE MASSIVE trees and tons of them providing plenty of shade and challenge, some elevation changes, reasonable amount of water hazards, par 3's that hug ponds, tons of doglegs, some long par 5's. Can't wait to get back and play here again when I'm in town

Played here many, many times. I have always enjoyed the rounds...until today. I decided to take a cart today. $41 senior riding, up from the $30 from last season. OK, I can handle that. What I can't understand is charging the full rate for a course that is loaded with heavy construction equipment, loads of work crews and piles of dirt. I get it, they have been working on this course for 2-3 years, but charging the full amount to play in a heavy construction zone just seems a bit odd to me. I'll be back in a year or two when they get it done. Too many other options.

This course in summer is straight up packed. If you book a tee time for less than four, don't show up with four because they often pair you up with other people. They do have a good discount for students but it ends once you are older than 20. As far as value for cost, it's pretty good. The course conditions definitely aren't at the bottom of the totem pole but there definitely are better courses around - mostly in the burbs though. We tend to hit this course up a few times a summer (well, we did until we no longer got the student discount). There are all sorts of skill levels playing here so the play usually moves pretty slow. If you're going for a quick nine on your lunch hour I'd rethink it. We usually set aside a good 2-3 hours if we've got two or more as like I said, play moves pretty slow.

Had a small group outing Sat, July 9th! The staff was very willing to help and very patient as we pulled things together. Also, pleasantly pleased by the course. Should have stopped out here sooner...big thanks to the Phalen team!

Poor organization, in the middle of our round the course booked three groups of a league into the back nine before letting us continue the round. It took us 3 hours to play the back nine. Will not be returning to this course

I went out Phalen with some buddies this 4th of July weekend. I was harassed then assaulted by their Ranger, Jeff. Jeff followed us for three holes and was on our heels, complaining that we were moving too slow. He threatened that we would have to leave if we didn't pick up our speed. This is in spite of the facts that our group was making good time and we were immediately behind the next group. Jeff chose to follow only our group of black golfers for three holes. It was readily apparent to us and the group behind us that Jeff had singled us out for this special treatment. By third hole, I had had enough and told Jeff he needed to stop. There was a heated exchange of words then I finally told him I wanted to speak to the manager. Jeff got into in his golf cart and drove at me at full speed. I was able to move back to avoid getting hit but he ran over my right foot. I tried to file a complaint with the manager there but he was unwilling to take down a report. All in all this was a terrible experience and no one there cared enough to remedy the situation.
