Pepin Bistro

Lunch stop in Pepin today. This was a great choice. Even tho the servers seemed a bit distracted they ended up doing great. I had the omelet and my companion had the Turkey sandwich on pumpkin bread- she declared it the best sandwich she had had in a while. The omelet was overstuffed with nicely sliced vegetables- lots and lots of them. It was so good. And excellent sourdough bread and crispy hash browns. Really good food and super cute place

Delicious, well made espresso served piping hot. Lemon waffle with just the right amount of lemon drizzle frosting. Perfectly cooked eggs and delicious sausage patty. The service was attentive and responsive. The darling interior and inviting outdoor seating makes this a place not to miss on your trip through Laura Ingalls Wilder's birthplace in the big woods.

I may have had the best Reuben sandwich in my life here today! No exaggeration, and I've had a lot of Reubens! More later as we're on the road, but get in here before the word gets out.

OMG!!! Do not pass this place up when traveling through Pepin, up or down WI 35. The food is excellent, amazing portions, and super nice people. T

Great disappointment in service and food. The patio looks colorful and nicely shaded with umbrellas. The inside is also comfortable, just a few tables scattered in two rooms with some throwback decor. However, the food and general experience do not keep up with the expectation it implies. I did enjoy the coffee; it was delicious. That said, the service was extremely slow and just barely pleasant. We felt as though the servers did not really care about us, as if there was a veneer of politeness but nothing sincere. Reasons for 2 stars: 1. we waited over 45 minutes for a simple food order, with no one coming to check to see if we wanted a drink refill or to say how much longer the order might be. 2. when the lemon poppyseed waffle arrived, it was quite small and very thin, lukewarm, with the lemon provided by an icing dribbled over the waffle. If we'd had any idea that this poor substitute of flavorless batter was what to expect, we'd never have ordered it and certainly not waited so long.As an aside (and a reminder to write this post), the charge shown on our credit card statement was $2 higher than we left.
