So many sprinkles.
The Old Fashioned Donut Shoppe is in a nondescript strip mall in Crystal. Great service, though!

Absolutely love the donuts here! These days there are so many options for donuts. Most have some sort of special flair, but I still love a bakery style yeast donut. Old Fashioned Donut Shop does an amazing job delivering these. Flaky, soft, semi-sweet plain glazed donuts done right! The lady at the front is so nice and friendly. Highly recommend for a classic donut experience!

I got donuts this morning for the office! Everyone loved them! Someone said it was the best donut they've ever had. They are so fresh and delicious! The woman that helped me was very friendly and so was the man there! I will definitely be back!

I decided to get some donuts from a local donut shop. First, I was only going to order three or four donuts but I decide to get a 12 pack. They all looked pretty tasty.Long John custard filled: i'm a sucker for custard filled donuts and this one did not disappoint. The custard wasn't too sweet and It had a mellow taste. The donut had a nice little fresh doughy bite that left me craving another.

Wowza! This little donut shop has a wide variety of pastries and every one I've ever had has been delicious. The raspberry swirl donut (I don't know the official name) that I tried recently was absolutely mouthwatering. The service is great, too!

This is basically the only correct answer for good donuts in Minneapolis. There are a lot of trendy places in the city that have great reviews and good business that make me wonder if Minneapolis-ites don't know what good donuts are. Couple that with the PRICE of a donut in the city and I really started to think that people in Minneapolis were sort of idiots?BUT Old Fashioned Donut Shoppe proves that there are some people who DO have taste and care about where they put their dollars. I don't love donuts, in general, but I can appreciate a donut done well and this place does it well without the extra frills. Definitely coming back to this one and now I have a great answer when people ask me about my favorite donut place. It's got to be this one.

Signage reads "Delicious Donuts" Donuts are just like the neighborhood donut shops we all grew up with. Glazed, sprinkles, cake, old fashion, and filled. None of this glamorous, overpriced too much crap on the top of a baked donut and pastry store stuff. We've been looking for a good donut shop since we moved up from Texas and now have one. I wish we didn't have to drive from Anoka though. But we will be coming back - hopefully next weekend. The store isn't updated in decor but is clean. The lady at the counter was friendly and gave us good service. They have a small selection of drinks (need to offer some type of diet drink) and a few tables to eat at.

I stopped here on the way to somewhere else. I was impressed by the large number of people stopping in... lots of parents with a child. It's a low-key, no-frills, old fashioned donut shop. You're not going to find fancy, cookie topped, coffee-flavored donuts here. What you will find are fresh, soft donuts like you remember - sugar coated raised, raspberry or custard filled bismarks, maple frosted fried cinnamon - the basics. The donuts were good and would be crowd pleasers if you brought them to work for the staff.

Apple fritter was great! Glazed old fashion was not good. Chocolate raised was...meh.Good prices though. Would only go back for the fritters.

We lived in the neighborhood for pretty close to a year and a half before we actually got to sample the donuts from this little shop. As you might have noticed from other reviews, we are not exactly morning people, and this place is one of those "we sell them till they're gone" type deals. We never get over there in time before they've closed for the day. But one weekend my husband was up unusually early so he went over and brought home an assortment of donuts. Both the yeast and cake donuts were equally good to me, fresh and airy while having the right consistency. I am a freak for sprinkle donuts and was delighted that both the cake and yeast versions came absolutely crusted with sprinkles. In my opinion this is the only way to properly do a sprinkle donut, and it was much appreciated. The frosting was rich, thick and creamy, just the way you'd want it to be. In all, I'm sure we'll be back if we can ever catch them when they are open. I sure wish they were open Sundays, too. Maybe a better day to be closed would be Mondays? At any rate, I was at Dunkin Donuts up in New Hope one Sunday and the guys behind me in line and I had a lovely chat about how we were only there because this place was closed. Something to ponder anyway...
