This out in the country supper club is worth the drive. It's the true deal. The bar opens at 4, dinner service starts at 5. This is a popular spot with the locals and is always busy. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. Dinners include the salad bar and choice of potato or veggie. The steaks are prepared to order and are tender and flavorful. The broasted chicken was crispy and moist. The seafood platter included deep fried cod, scallops, shrimp, stuffed shrimp and clams. Enough food for two!

I'd read the reviews and got recommendations. There was nothing wrong, I just wasn't blown away. I think I expected something just a little cozier, maybe a signature dish.My husband said he enjoyed the prime rib. They do make a really good Old Fashion just like an old Wisconsin supper club should.

ld Abe's is out in the woods, but it isn't a wood view as it's on an old farm. When you arrive it's a bit weird as they have an old burnt down barn next to the restaurant. It's much bigger inside then it looks on the outside in front because of the addition they added on. But it's nothing special. You do need to arrive early or you will wait forever. You walk in and check in with the bartender to get your name on the list. Something that is not told to you till you walk all the way through the grounded bar towards the hostess stand to see a sign and while that is happening others sign in before you. My standards weren't that high as I didn't know what to expect, it wasn't bad. When they take you back the tables are like old cafeteria tables and chairs you sit at, no table cloths or covers. There aren't a lot of 2 person tables, lots of 4-8 person tables. The people are very nice, let me start there. Though the waitress didn't know the difference between battered and breaded cheese curds, she does now, but they do have both. The steaks were fine, the couple we were with had to salt it a lot to give it flavor which was a bummer. The salad bar was ok, the people we were with liked it. They had lettuce, cucumbers, frozen egg (which was rubbery once thawed), carrots in water which ended up being a bit rubbery (some of them) and peppers and a few other things. But it did have 4 different kinds of dressing. It did have homemade crouton/bread pieces on the top that were yummy. They had 1 soup, didn't try it. They had red beets, a macaroni cold salad, and something thick warm cheese looking stuff, but not sure what it was. Then there was 1 big tub of cheese spread with saltine crackers on top. They do have ice cream drinks but there are only 4 flavors, the same as other locations. We were referred by someone else to go, we probably won't go back.

Impressed with this place. Very busy, make sure you get there before 5 or after 8! Salad bar was solid, chicken noodle soup was bland. Broiled and battered cod and shrimp were excellent. Overall a good stop, and you cannot beat their prices!

We found Old Abe's via the Wisconsin Supper Clubs book by Ron Faiola. Decided to have dinner there in our recent long weekend in the area to celebrate our 37th Anniversary. We love traveling and exploring new Wisconsin Supper Clubs; a unique Wisconsin tradition. We both had a nice Old Fashioned at the bar before entering their dining room. Both my husband and I decided on the 16oz ribeye, which at a Super Club should be top notch. My husband ordered his medium rare and I ordered medium. The quality of the meat was horrendous... mine was so dry and overcooked I couldn't cut nor eat it. My husband managed to eat a small portion of his. We reached out to our waitress, who was extremely friendly and she asked if I'd like a new one cooked. "No thank you" was my reply. She took the steak back to the kitchen and the 3/4 of the price was removed from our tab. Not at any time did the chef/owner come out to speak with us or apologize for the poor quality and cook of meat; mind you we sat next to him at the bar upon arrival at 3:30; and knew it was him because of his photo in the Wisconsin Supper Club book. Such a poor and disappointing experience on something we were so looking forward to because of the history. Needless to say, this one got and RED X in the book with notations of one of the worst ribeyes we have ever had.We don't recommend at all.

I used to LOVE OlD ABES but the food has really taken a turn for the worse. My favorite has always been the RibEye but the last few times I have had one there. They have been so thin and so full of fat they were horrible. They also have not been cooked right but when you are cooking a 1/4 inch thick Ribeye it's hard to get it medium rare.I asked if the beef was locally sourced and the cook said he had no idea they just take what the truck brings them and he doesn't know where it comes from. I just could not believe that answer!!! You have a supper club in a field in the heart of farm country in Jim Falls Wisconsin and you have no idea where your food is sourced from??? That alone is proof they are not in the business of caring about putting great food on a plate for their customers only about making money and filling tables and chairs. The salad bar was out of so many items poorly stocked and looked like it had not been cleaned all night. This was the third time we have been disappointed with our meals there and our bill was over $130 dollars. Old Abes used to be great NOT ANYMORE!! Sorry old Abes but I will spend my money elsewhere!
