Historic 1855 home in Hudson, WI, just miles from the Twin Cities. With COVID restrictions lifted, the house is back open and ready to be toured. Come learn about the history of the Moffat family that built this unique home as a group, with friends or even solo! There is something to learn for all ages. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The Octagon House also serves tea. Be sure to check out their website or give them a call directly to setup tea time. There is even a gift shop on-site where you can purchase glassware, ornaments, and garden decor. My family had a magical day out of the entire experience.

How did I not know this place existed before last weekend?? I found the Octagon House after going on the Chocolate March put on by the Inns of the Valley. This museum is such a great find. The house actually is in the shape of an octagon and the helpful guide informed us that the reason the house was built in an octagonal shape was because it provied more space than a square house, plus better ventilation and more space for windows and thus more lighting. The house was built in the 1800's and is completely decorated with period furnishings. All of the guides were so helpful and you could tell they know their stuff and really love what they do. I can't wait to go back to the Octagon House in the summer when we can go to the top dome and see the gardens.

Another well kept secret is the Heritage Center in New Richmond. A campus of 12 buildings all from the late 19th century, well worth a visit. www.nrheritageccenter.org
