My son and I have volunteered here because he loves animals. The staff works hard and has an extremely limited budget. The animals are very well cared for here.

It has been quite a while since I have been here, but i have adopted 2 dogs from them. Them workers are absolutely delights to work with and you can tell they really care for the animals. I feel they are pretty overlooked for the efforts and care they put into the animals.

Super staff with the cleanest of facilities! They do such great work here! I have personally dealt with them on many occasions due to my work and it's always a great experience! Stop by to see their many pets that need homes! You'll be glad you did!

The Northwoods Humane Society exhibited extremely dishonest and unethical business practices in my recent experience with them. I will never be back, and do not recommend it to anyone who is looking to adopt an animal. I called to inquire about a dog that was available on the website and asked a few questions and told the employee that I was very interested in meeting him and that my husband and I would be there shortly. We came in an hour later and had a very nice visit with the dog and were very open about wanting to bring in our dog for a meet and greet. They agreed to put the dog on hold for us. We arranged a time with them at the soonest possible date which was difficult to schedule as they were closed two days in a row. It would have been on Tuesday (it is now Saturday, and they are closed tomorrow for Sunday because of Easter, and they are not open on Monday's). They placed the dog on hold for us and took him off the website. My husband and I were obviously very excited and went home to start getting the house ready for our new family member. We just got a call a few minutes ago that another couple asked to meet with the dog and already had their dogs with them for a meet and greet. Northwoods went ahead with the meet and greet. It went well so Northwoods staff released our hold without contacting us and then adopted the dog out to the other family. I understand they want their animals out of a stressful shelter environment as soon as possible, but they demonstrated a lack of integreity and lied to their adopters throughout the whole process. I believe they should have contacted us first before they released the hold and explained the situtation to us rather than going behind our backs, releasing the hold, adopting out the dog, and then leave us a message right before all the staff leave for the long weekend so they don't have to deal with us directly. I'm very disappointed in the Northwoods Humane Society.

Very nice staff that really try their best to care for their animals. The kitty I adopted was staying at a foster because she was stressed by the shelter environment. I set up an appointment, hung out with her a bit in a private room, and took her home! I got her medical records and the form from her previous owner. She's a wonderful cat. Very happy with everything! Wish I lived closer so I could volunteer.

In contact with staff to get a specific cat that was available. Drove 45 minutes to get it. In the 8 minutes they were open, they gave it away knowing I was on my way. Poor customer service. Rude staff. If I could give it a zero star I would have.

The staff at Northwoods Humane Society were extremely helpful and kind in the adoption process. I came in and was able to pick out a sweet orange tabby and bring him home. Made the adoption process as stress free as possible and was able to bring my kitty home the next day. Highly recommend this shelter for their attention to detail.

please do not bring animals here even if they claim they will take them. They claim that they would take a mother cat and her two kittens that we caught outside. And when we brought them in and signed all the paperwork they refused them after the paperwork was signed. Claiming that they were too feral. even though my mother literally put her hand inside the cage with the cats. Now we are stuck with a mother and her two babies that have been in a cage for two whole days scared to death. Not sure where to take them or if we have to release them into the wild. It's November in Minnesota.
