Newt's North

While waitting for your food you get popcorn. Outstanding burgers. Friendly staff. Interesting place. Happy to recomend it.

We stopped by Newt's North on a Monday about 5pm. The initial service was slow, but once our server came over, everything progressed at a nice pace. There's a family-friendly sports bar vibe to the place. There are TVs everywhere, tuned in to games, and lots of items covering the walls. The smell of popcorn permeates the restaurant because a bowl of popcorn serves as the gratis appetizer that everyone gets along with their menus. That definitely sets this place apart!We ordered drinks from the bar and cheese curds as our appetizer. The curds were AMAZING. I could tell they were incredibly fresh, as they were wonderfully squeaky with a great pull. Ranch and ketchup were served alongside. For our main entrees, my husband ordered the Three Little Piggies Melt with tots (he loved it, said it hit the spot nicely) while I had a Chicken Caesar Salad (fresh greens, with a good amount of chicken, croutons, and cheese). This was a solid place to eat dinner. I can see why it's such an institution in Rochester.

The real story?The cheeseburger at Newt's is the best you can buy. I'd qualify or curb that statement but it's not necessary. It's as good as you can do. Burger/beer/fries? You can drive hundreds or more(!) miles and never have better. I'm in town once a year and the first place I go to eat is Newt's North. Don't hesitate, cheeseburger with whatever toppings you want will leave a mark that you can't just erase.

This afternoon six of us met @ Newts for lunch. Err a delicious lunch. First off they have a bowl of popcorn on the table. delicious but it's the chips & salsa of a burger restaurant. So I over indulged enough that I only ate half my burger. Rest assured 4.5 hours later it warmed up for a just as delicious meal! The side options are salad, fries, or cole slaw. Five of us opted for salad and I did try one fry. They were delicious but w the pre-meal popcorn I would have ate less of my burger. Three of us ordered the Marvin's and were happy. One had chicken strips, the other California burger w add-on's of onions and pickles. I opted for the Hefe Rojo. I asked our server if he jalapeno Jam was hot? He said no... I didn't confirm if he was Minnesotan :p as I figured for sure he would say yes. I had the sauce on the side. I dunked my last bite in it, I mean dunked! So I thought it had some heat on it , so I was glad I got it on the side. Our party was there about two hours and it never got busy enough that we felt our server wanted to turn our tables which was appreciated. I like that the restaurant is pretty spread out and its eclectic decor... deer heads, a bike, to the beer bottle border. Newt's is a true gem of a place. For a burger bar the choices aren't too overwhelming and cover the gamut for your palate. I look forward to my next pass through Rochester to stop in for a meal! Newt's North is the sibling bar and grill to Newt's original downtown location. It's significantly more spacious than its older brother, but both could be described as dark, loud, and slightly divey, with taxidermy mounts and blankets of popcorn perpetually and intentionally left covering the floor. Perhaps that's where the newts are hiding! Newtmerous sandwiches and unique burgers fill the menu here, earning the restaurant the title of "Best Burgers in Rochester" from Rochester Magazine every year since the early 2000's.The Three Piggy's Melt alone blows the house down with pepper Jack, crispy fried onions, bacon, ham, and pulled pork topped with a bourbon buffalo sauce (though personally I'd leave off the ham.) Wolf that baby down! My favorite hot mess to order is Todd's Burger, topped with bacon, fried eggs and cheese. It's a huge, delicious cardiac event waiting to happen. Split it into two meals or share it, because you're not going to grow a new heart unless you are, in fact, a newt. Not one to give Wisconsin all the glory for their curds, Newt's also makes some mean cheese curds that you simply must order on the side. While their burgers and curds are newtoriously good, I wouldn't make a special trip to Rochester just for dinner here. Omg the fried zucchini is amazing!! The burgers were amazing had great flavor the customer service was amazing!! I asked if I could bring them back to California with us lol!! The billboards are working cause that's how we found out about yall!! Thank you for all the amazing food and service!!

Cute atmosphere. We told our waiter we had to get out quickly, and he got it done. Rob really liked his burger. I ordered a grilled cheese, which was average. Could have used a slice tomato to something. We will try it again.

We were blown away by the great service! Very welcoming when walking into Newt North the South location needs to learn how to greet customers!Fast service, greeted by staff and awesome tasting food! We had two kid meals and adult entree of Chicken Quesadilla's.

Had smash burgers and they were decent though rings and fries were well done for our taste but maybe that is their standard. Good service and food dropped off shortly after ordering. The atmosphere is sports bar and place was clean.

Stopped in for the first time as a local place across from where my vehicle was being serviced. Loved it!
