Attention mum lovers: Mikes Discount Foods has the jumbo size for $10!!! This was my first time at this store as I found it from a Facebook post, I will be back. Who dosnt love a good deal? The only downside is the store is disorganized and a little harder to find what you may be looking for. I assume this is how they keep the costs low so it is what it is. Tons of good deals on household supplies, food items, and more. Worth a stop especially for the mums.

I love this place and I was so excited to realize it was near my new neighborhood when we bought a home in 2020! I like to go randomly when I need a snack or something small (produce-wise) to complete a recipe I want. I love to look at all the odd snacks they get and see what I can try that I normally never would, for cheap! They also usually have a lot of great vegan food (cheeses, milks, sometimes meats, etc). that I can get at a huge discount. It's another great way for me to try brands I normally wouldn't buy due to cost. The shop is small so go on "off" hours so you can really look at everything and find a deal. The staff are always nice and talkative, they treat you like a real person. I love Mike's so much that I always get excited when I drive by a location I haven't been to but this Hilltop one is my hometown one, I always find something and even picked up Valentine's for our niece and nephew once. Always fun to see what they have!

I call Mike's Discount Foods "the Dollar Store for Groceries" because you can get alot of food very affordably! They just put in new checkout lanes at both Columbia Heights and Fridley, cleaned up the displays too. Whatever I CAN'T find at Mike's I will pay full price for at Cub or Rainbow--it is worth the trip! Organic produce, gourmet cheeses, yogurt for less than $6 a case & prices that are the best deal in town!

The food is priced right, MOST of the staff is polite and helpful. I had a horrible experience recently with Jose. He gave me back a ripped $10 bill in my change and absolutely insisted that he didn't. He acted like I was trying to pull a scam to get $10...he continues to make it an issue. I was really surprised that there is no one to speak with about his aggressive behavior. No one at the store could care less about this. Evidently I should have sucked up the loss...I will not be shopping there again.

Great place to shop for deals if you don't mind sometimes expiring or expired food. You just need to shop carefully.

Stopped by Mikes today (230 Osborne Road NEFridley, MN 55432). They were selling discounted black berries, but nearly 80 % of the containers contained berries with visible mold on them. Be careful buying products from them.

Ok, here goes. I used to really like this place. I would visit sometimes 2 times a week. Now it has gone down hill to the point I tend to avoid going there. It is a grocery store that carries stuff that companies need to get rid of because of expiration date issues. Most grocery stores will not sell a food item past its expiration date or even if it is coming close to that date. The grocery stores (ie. Cub, for one) sells it at a greatly reduced price to Mike's Discount Food chain and he tries to get rid of it anyway possible. At times there are some deals worth taking advantage of but most of the time the produce is pretty low quality. Items like cereal or cheese or milk products are usually passable. But of course beware of those expiration dates especially on milk. If you can eat or drink something fast its a good deal. If you end up throwing it out because it spoiled, not a good deal no matter what you paid for it.Avoid at all costs going here on Tuesdays Seniors Day (10 percent off for seniors) lines will be very long and with only one cash register, not worth the time you spend vs. money saved.Always good buys on ice cream.

Mike's is a staple of my shopping cycle. I simply can't find food this cheap. Yeah, sometimes the strawberries are bad, but the rest of this food is awesome.
