This is a good effort by the neighborhood to bring in local talent, and encourage support of the area economy. Limited hours (open Saturday in the summer until 1pm only) makes it less accessible than other markets that are open more often. Also, it is a tiny footprint and today (opening day for food trucks), there were really only about 6 food trucks present and maybe a dozen other vendors. This means you can cover it in a very short time which is good in some ways but disappointing in others. The 3 star rating in no way means it is a mediocre market. Just smaller and with fewer vendors than other area markets.I do love the artisans present that are so proud of their wares and products (as they should be) and the highlight today for me was the homemade pickle vendor and his Habanero brined spears. I bought a $9 tub from him and my group of 4 nearly polished them all off while walking around the market in a matter of about 15 minutes! No complaints about what is available here I just wish that there was more of it!

The Midtown Farmer's Market is a nice neighborhood market during the summer months. It's nowhere near as big as the Minneapolis or St. Paul Farmer's Markets, but it has a nice selection of goods in an area seemingly under-served by local options. On any given week you're likely to find fresh produce, a few food stands/food trucks, some vendors selling various handmade items, live music, seedlings/plants for your garden and easy transit/parking options. The market is a bit tucked away from Lake Street, but is easily accessible and is located directly on the light rail stop and bike trails.Definitely worth hitting up on a Saturday morning to grab a few items to restock the pantry, garden and/or belly.

Midtown has a great local feeling when compared to other markets in the area. There is just a great neighborhood atmosphere of local farmers and artisans coming to sell their goods.I like shopping produce, flowers, and so forth as much as the next person but I like some good hot food even more. There are quite a few food options like Omelets, Tacos, Arepas, Burgers and Sandwiches. Hola Arepa has been there every weekend and they have some great stuff, really ups the value in my book. There has been live music, cultural dancing and other entertainment every time I've been as well. The cheese curd guy in the back corner is great, he always has a ton of samples and offers them up with no pressure to buy. This market shouldn't go over looked when comparing to all the other choices in Minneapolis/St Paul. It's a good option to keep on the list when looking for a free weekend activity.

I think I am going to construct my bedroom onsite at the Midtown Farmers' Market. Honestly, there is no better way to start a Saturday then waking up and wandering around the Market. It's slowly becoming tradition around our household to rouse ourselves early on Saturday mornings in the summer and head to the market. Once there we might indulge in some fiendishly good Carnitas Tacos from Taco Taxi, delicious Bean Chili from the Magic Bus Cafe, tasty (albeit not briskly prepared) Arepas with greens, mushrooms, garlic, pickled onions and feta from Dandelion Kitchen, or wood-fired uncured Pepperoni and Carmelized Onion Pizza from Olive Pizza. Needless to say we enjoy breakfasting/brunching/lunching at the Market. The street food delights aside, the real focus of our weekly pilgrimage to the Market is the produce, cheese and meat offered by the farmers and vendors. What the Midtown Farmers' Market lacks in quantity it greatly exceeds in not only quality but in the ability to connect with local farmers/purveyors on a personal level. Absent from the Midtown Farmers' market is the goliath vendors of the Lyndale Market that sell bananas, kiwis, oranges and all other sorts of purchased produce from far outside the confines of MN/WI. Midtown Market farmers/vendors offer what the time of the season allows, and that which they offer has been nothing but excellent in our experiences with them.Yes, I'm preferential to the Midtown Farmers' Market partially due to its proximity to my home, but moreso than that I'm preferential to the Midtown Market for it's conscience, quality and diversity. And yes, that'll be me nestled warmly under my sheets beside the Taco Taxi.

I love this farmers market for the welcoming atmosphere in the heart of this diverse community. Great vendors and hot food options. It's not the biggest market in the city, and not even in my neighborhood, but it's the one that feels like home to me.

I really love everything about this farmers market. It's close enough to my house that I can easily walk there, yet the parking is convenient too for those days when I'm either short on time, energy, or just plan on getting enough stuff that it'd be difficult to carry home if I were walking. If you don't live in the neighborhood, it's conveniently located just steps from the Midtown light rail station, so there's another easy option if you don't want to walk/bike/drive.I love the fact that I get an email each week telling me what is going to be available at the market--it makes meal planning and grocery shopping so much easier! I love that it's open on Tuesdays from 3-7pm, to make up for those Saturday mornings when I sleep laaaaaate and miss out on my chance to get there before it closes at 1pm.Of course the produce is fabulous, and it's ALL local (unlike the main Minneapolis Farmers Market!). The breads from Bread Star Rising, salsas from Chip Magnet, local honey, and hand-rolled butter are also not to be missed. I'm not sure how they do it (probably with farm-fresh eggs) but the omelets are pretty much the best we've ever tasted. My boyfriend and I usually get croissants too...I can't recall who makes them, but we like to get a turkey & Swiss croissant and a chocolate croissant, both are phenomenal. This farmers market is nowhere near as large or as crowded as the main Minneapolis Farmers Market, and that's just another thing I love about it! It's easy to get in, get what you want, and get out and on with your life. Highly recommend!

Ick! I'd have expected that on opening day it would be clean, that neighbors would pick up trash and there would not be pan handlers hustling the shoppers and accusing them of racism if they don't give them money. Totally not worth going to. Very limited parking too. Skip this. Go to Minneapolis farmers market!

This is my favorite farmer's market in the twin cities area hands down. The variety of fruit and veggies is amazing. The vendors are friendly and helpful and there are so many to choice from too if you don't at first see something you want. I think in addition to the actual food there the best part is the atmosphere. The cart vendors, music, and people really make the place. I would recommend going earlier rather than later and searching for parking and walking instead of paying for a lot. Farmers markets are just something you need to enjoy in person, really no words can describe going to pick your own produce and being able to converse with vendors.

Whoa, have I discovered my new favorite farmers' market! Their motto is: Fresh. Local. Flavor.I've tried to get into going to markets before, but the Lyndale one is a bit overwhelming for me and I don't like that it isn't always local products for sale and the Kingfield one has so few things. St. Paul is great, but too far from me to use on a weekly basis.I like midtown because it is lively- has a band playing, you can use credit cards!, has a wide variety of produce, meat, eggs, has things to eat right there and parking is never a problem. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is friendly. The crowd is diverse. One of the things I like most about this one is that it is open Saturday from 8-1 and Tuesdays from 3.30-7.30 so if I don't make it over on Saturday, I can still get there on Tuesdays. As with most markets, leave the pooch at home.
