Appears nothing has changed since these older reviews. Still the same 5 star outstanding meals! We had such a fun experience in this small and lovely restaurant. The prime rib was the best they ever had, according to several of our friends. More raves about the pappardelle with duck sauce and the beer battered walleye! Peggy is an amazing chef. I will have fond food memories of her place until I return and make new ones!

Back last night for a celebratory meal with good friends. The food was outstanding! From the Irish beef oxtail stew to the roasted duckling, every meal was delicious and elegantly served. We never felt rushed and truly enjoyed this European dining experience. If you're looking for a quick bite, this is not the place. But if you want the whole package, bring your favorite beverages (we brought wine, beer and a digestif,) and settle in for the evening.Chef Margaret Doran visited with us twice (probably because we were the last ones left) and made us feel like valued patrons. This was the best 3-1/2 hours I've spent in quite a while.

As many great restaurants grow in size and popularity, many regress into a shell of what they were when the business was young. And many times it's because the founder/chef no longer has the time to do what they do best; create great dishes, cook, and run the kitchen. So what was a chef-driven restaurant becomes more of a corporate-like entity with all of the flaws and problems inherent in a corporation. (In my view, this has happened to The Heartland Restaurant in St. Paul)Not so with this wonderfully cozy place in White Bear Lake. Margret Doran is a fantastic and creative chef with a ton of experience. This is her baby and she is in the kitchen 100% of the time. The menu is small, eclectic, and changes monthly. There are also occasional special event dinners and wine tastings that have a menu all their own. (This month is the "Last Dinner on the Titanic". Margret has acquired the menu of the 8-course dinner that was served on board that fateful night and will be recreating it using her own creative touch. Dressing in attire from that period is recommended for this event. Fun!)This is a small and intimate place where you will feel at home and yet still be waited on and enjoy incredible dishes. All food is locally sourced and most, if not all, is organic. Appetizers range from an incredible Tuna Tartare with Toasted Pine Nuts, Apples & Capers to Queso Fundido with Homemade Chorizo. The salads change monthly as well and the veggies are sourced from 10th Street Farm in Afton, MN. Entree's will always include a steak, and a fish or seafood dish. Other surprises may be a rack or shank of lamb or a chicken dish. Always different, always creative and delicious. Meat is sourced locally from Peterson Limousin Beef.At this time, (although they plan to in the future) no alcohol is SOLD at this restaurant. However, BYO is recommended and encouraged. I happen to love this as I can bring my own wine (without the typical restaurant price mark-up) and Margaux's will provide the corkage service free of charge. Also, they have a relationship with Cotroneo's Wine And Spirits which is only a half a block away from the restaurant, and this liquor store will deliver right to your table! (Again without the usual restaurant mark-up) I actually look at this as a win-win. You get to pick the exact wine you want from your own cellar or pick up a bottle on the way.Deserts vary from week to week and are made on the premise.Service has been described as "ad-hoc". I really don't think this is a correct description. This is a small restaurant with a small staff. Just bring your bottle of wine and prepare to enjoy a leisurely dinner in a great atmosphere.

We had a fabulous experience at Margaux's Table! All of the food was inventive, amazingly delicious and beautifully presented, the atmosphere was relaxing and comfy. Margaux came out and visited with us which was delightful. The only negative was the service. We had to ask for water over and over and over. She brought it each time but didn't bring it unless we asked for it. Same for the bread. She also didn't take our order until we asked her to then she waited until her 2 other tables were completely finished eating before doing so. I don't think she was able to (or thought she shouldn't) wait on more than one table at a time. The unprofessional service was really irritating which was a shame because everything else was stellar and so worth it

Went with a group of five friends for dinner. I love the atmosphere - eclectic, cozy, welcoming. Had duck liver pate and crostini as a shared appetizer. A few in the group preferred the pate on Margaux's warm, fresh bread. Entrees included Chilean sea bass in a green curry coconut sauce, beef bourguignon, and duck. The roasted vegetable sides were well prepared and delicious. We finished with creme brulee and chocolate crosadas. Everyone agreed that it was a fabulous dinner.

An amazing organic dining option, perfect for lunch or dinner. The small menu ensures quality meals. A true farm to table restaurant, did I mention it's BYOB? Their pork loin and red cabbage sandwich on house made bread is an awesome lunch choice! All the food is made with such care, my favorite area restaurant, not to be missed!

Delicious leisurely dinner in a lovely spot! Saganaki cheese appetizer with lemon was delicious, as was my beef tenderloin.

Fantastic food. With an unwelcoming owner. Sadly despite the great food and with great service, the owner was beyond rude and we can't recommend this restaurant.

We had 2 ribeye steaks and 2 sandwiches. The homemade bread was good but needed salt. It was strange to have the sandwiches served in baskets at a candlelight dinner. Ordered the steaks rare to MR. They took an hour, came out medium and fatty. We complained and the waitress brought the information (and fatty remnants) back to Margaret. She responded, through the waitress, that because the steaks were locally sourced, they contained some marbling. We felt insulted by her refusal to acknowledge the poor quality of the steaks. They acted as if we hadn't eaten steak before. There are plenty of good restaurants in WBL. This one will not make it.
