Dim sum might be my favorite way to spend a Saturday morning and Mandarin Kitchen is an excellent host for the occasion. There is a line at opening so come prepared but the staff are well prepared and organized to sit and serve everyone promptly.Dim sum can be a bit overwhelming if you're not familiar but lean into the chaos and you'll have a great time. Our strategy is to steer clear from the buns at first to not fill up too fast but you do you.The food itself isn't re-inventing the wheel but it is consistent and authentic. Personal favorites are the spicy peanut bun and the meatballs. Surprisingly, the star of this last visit was the egg rolls which we've always skipped before but they were excellent.Coming with a group allows for more experimentation and their lazy Susan tables are very accommodating. It does add up quickly though so be aware if you're on a budget.Overall, it's a casual, tasty, and different way to spend a weekend morning instead of heading to the familiar local diner.

This was our first time trying here and we ordered pick up on a Sunday evening. You currently have to call to place an order but it states it'll eventually be set up to order online. They have an extensive menu with wonderfully fresh choices. I noticed they have live shellfish stored in aquariums by the front. They also have fresh roasted ducks hanging in the front display case. We were not feeling adventurous this evening and just wanted some basic Chinese food. We ordered the beef szechuan style, sesame chicken, and the beef chow fun. The beef chow fun was tasty, nothing amazing. The sauce tasted just like beef gravy and nothing really like Chinese food. Almost like a beef stroganoff. The sesame chicken was tasty as well, the sauce had a slight orange tang taste to it. Maybe the slightest spice but it would be tolerable for most spice intolerant people. It's served on lettuce and fried rice noddle which created an odd mushy mess. Our favorite was the szechuan beef dish! It had wonderful flavors and lovely vegetables that complimented the sauce and beef well. Although higher than average prices, we did appreciate the higher quality of food. We will be back to try more from the menu.

Yum yum yum in my tum. I am surprised by the Yelp rating on this place. Not quite sure why it is what it is.When we got here around 10am on Sunday morning, the place was PACKED. I thought everything was delicious. My favorite thing about dim sum is that once you sit, the food just basically appears. We got char siu steamed buns, shrimp dumplings, shrimp and bbq pork rice noodle rolls-ups, egg custard buns, almond cream buns, chicken feet, short ribs, sticky rice, and congee. I thought service was good. I got food quickly, all the flavors were on point, and I cannot complain!

It was quite an experience. Everyone lined up when they opened at 9:30, they sat us immediately and then started pushing the carts of food around the tables. The food was not like anything I've had before. It was definitely a different experience. The staff were great. We were done eating and in our way out within 40 mins. The experience was good and I'm glad I went. Unfortunately I learned that I am not a big fan of the food myself. But still recommend going and trying it for yourself.

LOVE this Authentic Chinese restaurant! My family often comes here for dinner as a large group and we love it when we're seated at one of the lazy susan round tables. It's not the most romantic or modern decor, but they make up for it in the quality and taste of their food. Dim Sum: if you come between 9:30am-2pm on the weekends, you can get Dim Sum service, where they stop at your table with a wide variety of ready-to-eat delicacies. It's so fun to just point at what you want to eat! You can still order from the regular menu at any time too. My Favorites include:Beef Chow Fun (wide noodles)Roast Duck Shrimp Siomai Steamed BBQ Pork BunsBaked Egg Custard

Mandarin Kitchen is hands down the best Hong Kong Cantonese style Chinese food in the Twin Cities. They have a huge variety of dishes on their menu, including fresh seafood from the fish tanks near the entrance. We had a party of 12, and they had no problem accommodating our group. It was so much fun to sit around a huge table with a lazy susan in the middle of the table to spin around and share all the dishes. The wait staff is kind and courteous, and more than willing to help you decide on what you'd like to eat. The food is always delicious and fresh, every time we go we're happy as can be. Give them a shot, you'll be happy you did!

This is the best Dim Sum place in twin cities. This restaurant is very authentic with a variety of options. The food tastes fresh and yum! The service is amazing! There always are a lot of waiters and waitresses to serve you and explain the dishes to you. They have a lot of tables and their space is huge, but they are always so busy. If you want to get the food right away when they open, you need to get in line about half an hour early. Otherwise, parking lot is crazy and you have to wait for a long time. I wish their waiting system would be better.

Mandarin Kitchen is located in an older strip mall away from the 494 freeway. Parking is ample which is shared by other stores. Seating was quick and the tea arrives quickly. Potstickers are excellent and generous. Chow Fun with black bean sauce has visible ginger slices so be careful if you are sensitive as I am. Sesame Chicken is not spicy as expected but still very tasty. Overall, a very good traditional meal at this location.

Wow! What a great experience! Took my aunt here for a birthday brunch and she loved it as her first dim sum. We got here super early not knowing what to expect and having seen and heard about the line being long to get in during the morning. However, know that this place has their operations down to a T and as soon as the door opened the entire line was seated within minutes. So it's not going to be as serious as it might seem (though still recommend coming a bit early if you want a guarantee. )We had 4 of us, we are fairly fit people, and ordered the following:- rice cake- bbq pork- pork chops- steamed shrimp dumplings- egg custard bun- pork rice noodle- pork and chive - fried taro bun- another shrimp dumpling - egg rollsAnd maybe a few more I can't remember here, for roughly just over $100! For four people I'd say that's a steal! It was such a quick service and they come to your table with trays to offer food (similar to Fogo de Chao if you've been there.)The setting is a bit loud once everyone is let in, and not all the servers project their voice, so you have to really assess the food you're presented with and listen intently- don't be afraid to clarify! The food was super fresh and we walked away feeling stuffed, but not heavy! It was such a great gift to give my aunt and a first for both my aunt and uncle. Once you're finished, bring your table ticket to the front to check out and you're all set! We sit so quickly and service happens so fast that o forgot to take photos! but can promise this is the spot to check out!

My boyfriend and I usually frequent Yangtze because that's where I grew up going for dimsum. However, we've recently been trying out other places! We'd been recommended this place by a friend, saying it was his fave.First of all, the restaurant feels clean. Old but clean. They have a koi pond in the entrance of the restaurant and tanks full of different live seafood. We were very quickly served even though we came more in the middle of dimsum service. The carts came around often and offered a good variety. The things we ordered off of the paper menu were served to us very quickly and they were hot and delicious. We got sticky rice (very yummy and filling), turnip cakes (one of my faves), two different kinds of shrimp dumplings which were STUFFED! Super delicious. Their pineapple buns were amazing. The only thing i missed was the fried shrimp balls that most dim sum places seem to offer. Other than that, i was satisfied and everything was amazing! I would definitely visit here again!!! the wait time is way less than yangtze !! Would definitely recommend to friends
