Macs Fish & Chips

Well, this is not the review I thought that I'd be leaving for Mac's.We're on their email list, and they send out messages every Monday. We felt excited that the offer was free Mahi with purchase. We'd not tried this here before, so it was an interesting prospect for something new.Unfortunately, the fish was TERRIBLE. It was squishy, bouncy, had a weird chewiness, and it appeared that the bloodline had not been removed. We both have had Mahi at other places and never experienced anything like this. We were glad that we hadn't paid for it. Refunds would have been in order.We were so happy that we had cod to eat. It removed the taste of whatever the heck that Mahi was supposed to be.While we will be back to Mac's, the Mahi will never again be on the menu. The haddock is my fave.

Love the food here and plan to stop in more often. The biggest drawback is the lack of seating if you wanted to stay or even wait. So I would recommend getting your food to go, but still eat it when it's warm.

Parking was small and people do fight for their spots.. Lol had a quick driver just steal my spot so I had to circle back around. Interior is small as well, some places to sit but I prefer outside as I can people watch and just enjoy the weather. I do wish there was a station outside for at least some water and condiments, napkins and etc. Reasoning is because of the interior being small, and there is always a line, which is amazing for business. Just too much for asking for more ketchup or napkins Clams were a tad too fried for my taste and the amount I got was very small for the price. Cod basket that I got was very good. Not oily, perfect crisp, batter is not too fluffy, and seasoning was average. It paired well with the tarter sauce! Fries were pretty good, not as crispy as I'd like it but it worked.

I ordered the fish and chips with a side of clams. The fries were old and greasy as if they were reheated in the fryer. The clams were overly breaded and overcooked. The staff were aloof and didn't seem to care about the service or food. The place could also use a deep cleaning as it was filthy inside. If their only job is to make fish and chips they failed miserably.

I got takeout from Mac's last week for the first time and was not disappointed. The food was ready on time and was still warm when I got home. I got the walleye fish and chips and it was tasty. Plenty of food and a great value.

I don't get bored of this place. The fish and chips are made old school way with some sprinkles of sea salt. We usually do take out here because the dining space is quite limited. The place is small so you walk out there smelling like grease and oil. We like having some beverage at home with our fried fish goodness. But it is always a torture having to smell the fish and fries all the way home. I never fail to steal some fries though cause I just can't wait. They have really good home cut fries... chunky and satisfying. Highly recommended if you happen to be in the area. I usually order their halibut. Sometimes they have mahi mahi on special menu and that is a must order!! The fish is tasty with the crunchy light batter.

I recently visited and was blown!! The cheese curbs were perfectly fried, with a golden-brown crust that offered a satisfying crunch with each bite. The gooey, melty cheese inside was rich and flavorful, making it impossible to stop at just one. the fried golden dark shrimp. These succulent morsels were cooked to perfection--crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. The highlight was definitely a squeeze of fresh lemon over the shrimp, which elevated the dish to a whole new level! The bright acidity cut through the richness, making each bite refreshing and addictive.

Best kept secret. I am now am avid customer. The halibut exceeded expectations, the claims were the best, and fries were perfect. Much better quality than others.
