This is truly one of the most beautiful spots in the metro area. During high season - mid to late summer - the rose garden is so lush and spectacular. It is so peaceful. I always bring my out of town guests here and they are in awe. it's also a perfect spot for date night for a walk before or after dinner. Love sitting by the fountain or setting up a picnic under the trees in the park on the hill on a sunny afternoon.

This is one of my favorite spots in the city! Lake Harriet is a Great Lake to walk around, kayak, get ice cream, catch a concert in the park and get a little piece of nature in the city. I love all the green open spaces, the beautiful gardens and fountains. The roses weren't out but that was okay because the tulips and trees were gorgeous. Lots of people were out just walking or sitting in the grass with a book.

A beautiful stop during your walk around lake Harriet. The gardens have something new blooming spring summer and fall. Today we were there admiring the daffodils, ornamental trees flowering and the peonies are popping up - can't wait for those to flower in June. There are always lots of people, dogs and picnickers. Today we saw a couple having professional photos taken. You can walk to the bandshell from here to get ice cream.

Free, peaceful rose garden just off Lake Harriet (I always thought it was called Lake Harriet Rose Garden). It has more than just roses-come and plan to spend sometime here exploring all the flowers! Best way to get here is to bicycle in. No parking problems! Just turn off of the Lake Harriet Bicycle Trail onto Roseway Road. If you're up for it-the Peace Garden (rock garden) is on the other side of Roseway Road.

This garden is amazing, so many rose and flower varieties, many of which are labeled, plus fountains. Be sure and visit the Peace (Rock) Garden garden on the west side of Roseway Rd, and take in Robert's bird sanctuary which is a pleasant, shaded path through native vegetation to the Lake Harriet Band Shell.

The Rose Garden has been around for over a hundred years and I've ran hundreds of miles around this area and this is the first time I've actually walked through the garden, I'll have to come back for more pictures when there are actual roses blooming...hahahaNo need to wait though, there are already many different types of flowers in bloom. Hopefully as spring comes around the fountain will be turned on to enjoy.
