Ethiopian cuisine is one of my favorite things to eat, and I was excited to find out that Lucy's market conducts lessons in cooking injera as well as traditional Ethiopian dishes. Signups and information is on their Facebook page. In addition to a delicious restaurant and cooking lessons, this is also a market, selling commercially produced packages of injera, as well as lentils, and many other staples. There's a large open kitchen, a small retail market area, and a decent sized dining area. The service was top notch, and I learned a lot about the history or Ethiopian food in Minneapolis, during the checkout process. Whether looking for some food, lessons, or ingredients, you really can't go wrong coming here.

Lucy's is consistently delicious. We have gotten take out many times. We almost always get the veggie sampler and then a meat dish. The two of us are big eaters and we always have leftovers with this ordering combination. -Have had beef tibs wot, the key wot (a little more spicy/smoky), and the tilapia. All great. Want to try doro wot next!-If you're not sure what you like yet, try the Lucy's combo (meat and veggie sampler). Honestly I have never had anything I didn't love. You can taste the love and care that goes into this food. -Their cottage cheese is a super fresh, tangy, amazing complement to their smoky and spicier meat dishes. -Samosas are yummy especially with spicy green sauce on the side! This place is such a gem and we love it!

I stopped here expecting more of a market since I wanted to buy coffee and berbere. I got both and then decided to have a meal while I was there. The food was delicious and it didn't take as long as other Ethiopian restaurants. The owner was incredibly friendly and talked to my husband extensively, giving him pointers about how to cook Ethiopian at home.Lucy's Market & Carryout is exactly what the name implies. There are a few market items to purchase and it's more of a carryout place than dine in.

I got the vegan platter and it was delicious and plentiful! I can't think of a better deal for a hefty helping of yummy vegan food in the city.

I ordered the Lucy's Special, which is a combination of several Ethiopian meat dishes and a couple Vegetarian dishes, priced at $19.99. The restaurant stays pretty sparse with only about 4-5 small tables, but it feels spacious since they keep it a bit emptier, and still feels cozy somehow. Having eaten my fair share of Ethiopian in CA, NY, IL, and here, the food here was pretty solid. Good combo of meat and veggies, just enough injera to go with it, everything was super flavorful without just being mush. And like everyone else has mentioned, the owners here are lovely and super nice.

YAY! That is the feeling I get when I think of this restaurant. I've been here twice and loved it. I shared the platter which had many dishes included and I ate way more than I should have. Fantastic!

This is a brightly-colored, pleasant little restaurant and market. You can get fresh meals, or pick up some dry goods (legumes, spices, coffee) for the road. The menu is blessedly simple, focusing largely on beef, lamb, and vegetable dishes, with some fish options too. Unfortunately, I didn't see any goat. Our meal was solid. Good portions for the price, and everything was well-prepared. I wouldn't describe any of the food as "spicy," but staff are happy to bring extra hot sauce for those -- like me -- who need it. Sunny vibes and a very convenient location make it almost certain that we'll return in the future.

Had the most wonderful dine-in experience at Lucy's tonight! We started with delicious meat-filled Sambusa. Light and crispy with perfectly seasoned meat filling! Then for our main meal we had Lucy's Combo which was a sampling of Lucy's specialties including beef, chicken, and lamb. Meats had a variety of seasonings and all were amazing. The combo also included lentils, split peas, and collard greens. The food was all made from scratch and Aster, restaurant owner, takes pride in preparing recipes she learned from her mother as she grew up in Ethiopia. She even served us tonight and made us feel right at home. My husband and I highly recommend! Bring your friends!

Now open only Saturday and Sunday. Excellent food. Good service. Nice atmosphere in this small family run restaurant. Also sells some Ethiopian food items (like a limited grocery store for Ethiopian specialty items). Highly recommended.
