Local Motion Clothing

They carry a variety of clothing. The prices are as expected. However, if they don't have your size they offer to add you to a text/email list. They don't follow through on this. It's frustrating because by the time I saw they had the brand I wanted in, they were totally sold out in my size. Don't hold out to shop local with Local Motion. Just shop online.

Bumping this up to three stars. I definitely saw a better side to Local Motion the last time I was here---much cuter merch than I saw during my first few visits. Plus, I recently complimented a friend on her cute blouse (and then later on a dress) and she cited Local Motion as the source of the cuteness... so touché, Local Motion. :)

Update: it's a new day at Local Motion Clothing. I returned to try to find a cute dress to wear to the bazillions of weddings I have this summer; I've finally reached the age where everyone I know is getting married, and the other boutiques I tried around Uptown did not have anything in for my tricky not-quite-plus-sized-but-not-skinny-mini body. Local Motion is awesome for women hovering around that range; lots of cute, flattering dresses that are not sack-like or awkward.When I came in and talked to the saleswoman about the experiences I'd been having at the other boutiques, she told me I needed to "always come here first" because they would take care of me. And take care of me she did! She found lots of cute dresses in fun colors and various designs for me to try on that fit PERFECTLY, and she all-around made me feel awesome. Totally necessary after feeling kind of dumpy at the other places.Then, to top it all off, the owner checked me out, and she noticed that the dress I had been marked with the wrong price -- twenty dollars over. Not only does the owner know her merchandise well enough to know exactly what every dress in the store should cost, but she's honest enough to mark it down when there is no way I would find out the actual cost. Absolutely awesome; I will definitely be back for cute, nice dresses.

This review should really be 3.5 stars, but considering my last review was 3 stars, I guess it all evens out.Saw a dress by Kokoon (local lablel) I liked the other day, but they didn't have my size. The owner was happy to call them and have them bring one in my size over. Owner called. I went in. I loved it. Loved it. Totally casual chic, no wrinkle type material with a ton of different fall-ish colors that will allow me to mix and match it perfectly with other items in my closet. It wasn't cheap, but not over the top either. The amount I'll wear it will probably make up for the semi-splurge. Very happy.

Great place to find unique one-of-a kind pieces! As someone who only shops online or strictly banana republic (I hate wasting time at places that I have to dig or can't find my size)... I always find a gem of a purchase at local motion!It's trendy enough that I feel like I'm being adventurous, yet conservative enough that i'll wear the pieces to work. The have amazing summer dresses and cocktail dresses! And I just picked up some fabulous wool mittens, lined with fleece and fur - too bad they are far to cute to brave this blizzard!Also - just changed this to 5 stars... 100% honest, everything I buy from here gets 5+ compliments per wear. Good thing I'm a few miles away... else goodbye paycheck...

I've been in here only a few times, and each time I've come in here, I couldn't find anything worth paying for. it is sorta depressing for me, because over the past few months, they have had some pretty neat looking items in the window, so I expected everything to be unique when I walked in the store. The clothes are all local, but if that is what you looking for I would recommend going to Design Collective, waaay better clothes, and waaay better service! There really isn't anything special about this place, it's basically just another overpriced boutique store in uptown. The workers suck, and clothes are mediocre. I'll be back in hopes that new things are getting better and better, but honestly, I'm not even sure its worth it.

Ok. I've posted some negative reviews so I need to adjust my Yelp-Karma by singing a complimentary song to one of my favorite places to shop: Local Motion. The only problem is now, reader, after you read this, we may be competing for the same fab inventory. I hope you're not my size... I've been shopping here for years. I can't imagine Barb, Jeannie or any other staff being rude as one reviewer mentioned. They are boisterous sometimes, but I love the sound of women laughing, especially when my voice is in the chorus. The inventory ebbs and flows with the buying trips and orders coming in. Sometimes the racks are super jammed. But I'd rather have that with amazing, unique choices than space between hangers and a limited amount of blando-mundo. If that's what you want, for goodness sake, go back to the mall. This is an uptown boutique and it has a artful dynamic about it. Barb is also an accomplished seamstress/designer (ask about her Kinsale hoodie!) Her sewing machines/sergers are right back by the rear dressing rooms. She has altered her pieces to fit me at no extra charge. I am a long term customer, and we all know each other by first name- but that relationship has developed over time through doing great business with each other- the old school way. They give me unique choices and GREAT service every time I'm there, including suggestions I never would have thought of (that look so good on me) and following up with a call on items that I wanted. I'm sure I'm not their most lucrative customer yet I feel valued as their customer. I also don't bounce checks or go Prima Donna on them either. Have fun shopping with them and they'll be simpatico. They understand fashion, service and making the experience a positive one. They get really busy sometimes, and I think they do an impressive job juggling and balancing customers. Consider that Barb not only owns the place, she designs, buys, works the floor, has fashion shows, "Girls Night Out" events and participates in sales outside the shop like Maiden Minnesota. They also have relationships with small designers, both local and non. Price points are a little expensive for me but it's worth it because what I get, I keep for years and the pieces are unique and are "compliment magnets" over and over again. Give them a try. If you had a bad experience, I strongly urge you to give them another try. I absolutely love this shop! Thanks, Ladies, for doing what you do so well!

I loved this boutique. However, my husband was treated like an appendage. Tanya walked in front of him several times and even challenged their availability of sizes for me. she seemed to discount his opinion of clothes for me which was disappointing. I happen to value my husbands opinion in my clothing choices, not to mention he is the primary purchaser of such items:) If she would have recognized this, and him, I would have purchased several items. As this circumstance happens, i purchased nothing. A side note, the young salesperson there at the time, was delightful. Unfortunately, she was overshadowed by Tanya.

Great clothing , just ignore the sizes and find what fits , very high quality merchandise and beautiful style

Absolutely loved everything I came across in the store! High quality/ high priced clothing. Emily, the sales girl at the time was such a great help. She had amazing ideas and made me feel great in a lot of things I put on and was honest with me which I appreciate. Super fun experience!
