Posting a bad review is not my cup of tea but Kowalski's on Chicago and 56th street deserves this poorly rated review. This is the worst Kowalski's I have to been to yet. The hours of operation have been condensed to 8-8. These hours of operation are horrible for any working person. If you would like to gmet groceries before work, too bad, it's closed. If you would like to go after work, you may have to exit work early just to grab your groceries on the way home or stop at a competitor's grocery store that is not in your neighborhood. The restrooms are located in the back of the store, down the stairs, through a bunch of warehouse products, and down the hallway. Not convenient nor safe for customers to use, especially if you're waiting in line for 10 minutes even though you're the next person. Who knows what this person was doing in the bathroom for 10 minutes? The worst part is that they allow beggars by the outside entrance who most often times are there and also sleep next to the front door as well. Kowalski's mission is: We believe in exceeding expectations and giving customers a sensational shopping experience each time they visit any of our stores. Clearly, they are not upholding their mission statement at this location. Very disappointing and I am not the only person in the neighborhood that agrees with me.

Wow! I was on about a 6 month hiatus visiting this location after Covid started. Came back a few days ago and the whole front of the store is remodeled. They did a great job, it's way more inviting and the produce and deli are especially for a major facelift. They upped their game in comparison to the Lyndale location, but it's still a smaller format store. Either way, I love it. Kowalski's are the best.

Wonderful staff here -- positive, knowledgeable, way friendly. Great stock of many grocery items, and all their takeout (both hot and prepacked) is superb. A jewel right in my neighborhood; love this Kowalski's.

For my money, Kowalski's is the top of the grocery-store pyramid in the twin cities having surged past Byrerly's after Lunds acquired them and homogenized them a bit. Most of their stores, including this one, are on the small size yet filled with lots of gourmet fruits, veggies, cheese, meats and other specialty items. They have the basics too, but they really shine in these other departments. Aisles are a bit narrow for my tastes but it's not really designed for the overflowing shopping carts one might encounter at Target or Cub. Definitely pricey, but worth the splurge, at least once in a while. Life is short.

Cub Foods too ghetto for you? And Byerly's too snotty for you? Well, this Kowalski's is a delightful compromise! For a young, single (and I'd like to think - attractive) professional like myself, I despise large, chain grocers because I have to park a mile away in a gigantor lot and deal with the traffic while walking iiiinto the store. And Byerly's? The only way you can walk in there in flip flops and makeup -less is if you carry your senior citizen discount card. But this Kowalski's is such a blessing for those fast-paced-i-don't-want-to-deal-with-nonesense-get-me-in-and-out type of folks. Now, be aware that this is a TINY Kowalski's, but it has all the necessities: produce, dairy, deli, aisles with pretty packaged goods, DESSERTS(that's pretty important), etc etc. Prices are what you would expect for a Kowalski's.Small parking lot. Not too busy. AAAAND they still have someone baggin' your groceries for you!

The 5 stars is for the Deli! Kowalski's in general is my preference for many of the meats I like; for example they've got the best Andouile Sausage and unlike competitors it doesn't have a whopping amount of sodium in it! Anyway the Deli here is great, they carry my 2 favorite Deli Meats; Boars Head Cajun Turkey (I don't usually even like Turkey) and Boars Head Pastrami. Besides that the service is excellent! Most every other Deli I've been to either has staff that do not know how to or don't wan't to shave meat! That is how I like my Deli meat to be, doesn't give me any toothaches like thick cut usually does! I think it tastes better that way too, something about the texture! One Employee that really is a step above the rest is Meghen! On my last visit here I went to the Deli to get my usual meat! What really impressed me was that Meghen was just about to go on break when I came to the counter and instead of leaving the new person there alone to figure out how to properly cut my meat she delayed her break and without a frustrated look at all showed the new person how to shave it! It's things like this that keep me coming back to this Kowalskis, and I highly recommend coming here for thier Meat and Deli!

I was doing a demo here today, I work in many Kowalskis and staff is usually great, helpful & knowledgeable. No exception here. Kowalskis is a great chain! However this is the first time I've seen something of this nature in one of the locations. Racial profiling at its finest, from what I'm sure is the manager (didn't get her name short brunette with glasses) I was handing out samples at my table and I was approached by a young African American male and immediately after this woman whom I'm assuming is the manager. They both tried my sample and the young man walked off. She watched as he turned the corner and said to me "I really only came over here because I was keeping an eye on him." The fact that she felt comfortable saying that to me was crazy it's self but what really got me is he was happy, had his drink he came for in his hand and for some reason this woman felt the need to follow him throughout the store. Disgusting! This really hurt my feelings and I was in shock that she said that and laughed and walked away telling me this is normal for her to do this.. for no reason. It's a shame and other than this post I will be reaching out to someone higher up. I will never work inside of this location again and will surely never shop here, I don't feel welcomed. She had no reason to be following this man around the store.

I have literally never been more racially profiled than I have at this store. Every single employee watched my entire move and I've never felt more uncomfortable shopping somewhere. If you are a person of color do NOT shop here.

Won't be back. As a brown skinned male I can't even stand in the meat department looking at what to feed my household without 2-3 employees walking past me and pretending to stock shelves watching me to see if I'll steal something. Pathetic
