I've eaten Indian food at most Indian restaurants across the Valley (all around Phoenix and Tempe). I first ate it in college in the 80s with a friend from Sudan and I was hooked from the start. Although I've had great vegetarian dishes at many Indian restaurants, my favorite place across decades is India Palace in north Phoenix (found originally on 7th Street and Bell Road, lost for years, then found again on 27th Avenue and Bell Road - I thought they closed, but they had moved). For me, their lamb curry has never been matched. After decades, the grandmother and now the mom has finally stepped back from the business and last time I was in town, neither mom nor grandma were there and their lamb curry, a signature dish of their buffet, wasn't there either. It was a disappointment, because I have not found another restaurant that makes a lamb curry that has their flavor - and never even a hint of gamey-ness. I don't know their secret, but I haven't found their match. Anywhere. In my search for my favorites - their perfect lamb curry, spicy dahl, freshly baked naan, and perfectly sweet rice pudding - I've visited many Indian restaurants and even researched recipes. I've realized in my search that I probably prefer northern Indian cuisine and I'll probably never find the perfect Indian food unless I can once again eat my favorite family's recipes, but I also still love Indian food. When I arrived in the Twin Cities, I knew I needed to find a place to get my Indian food fix, so I searched for northern Indian food and looked at recommendations here and asked in a group of foodies as well. India Palace in Plymouth was one of the places recommended, it shared the same name as my favorite restaurant in Phoenix, and it was fairly close. I wasn't disappointed. Although no one matches my favorite lamb curry, this India Palace has a nicely flavored lamb curry, but also a chicken curry that I love even more. They have a wide variety of great dishes and last time we were there, they had a chicken biryani and yogurt raita sauce that was amazing together (thanks for writing that recommendation on the buffet notes)! They have other dishes to try, a nice samosa, and their rice kheer and chai tea are always a divine finish to a wonderful meal. We've found another happy spot in our new home.

Got this for take out so I don't know what the service like if you eat in but from taking it to go it was a great experience. The food was tasty and the price seem fair! I felt I had better Indian food before but it did hit the spot. I would go back for a take out order again. The garlic naan bread was very tasty!

Absolutely loved having dinner here. The servers are friendly and it seems like a family-oriented business. The vegetable samosas are yummy and the mango lassi hits the spot!! For dinner I had the goat tikka masala with spice level 4 and it was very wholesome and flavorful. I like that the goat meat wasn't just bones and it was cooked well! And you can't forget their soft and tasty naan bread!! *chef's kiss* The butter chicken is also really good! Overall I would give this place a 5/5 and would highly recommend.

Had a great experience last night at India Palace. We received some good news and wanted Indian food to celebrate!Once again I ordered butter chicken and it was delicious. I got a spice level of 3 and it was the right spice for me. My partner got the goat tikka masala with a spice level of 4 and we shared a mango lassi and vegetable samosas (not pictured). The servers were nice and prompt, they made sure our water glasses were filled and I appreciated their service. Officially our go to spot for getting Indian food!

After moving to Plymouth earlier this year we've been in a journey of finding our new go-to spots. Overall we thought that the quality of food and flavors weren't on par with some of the other spots around here. Certainly not bad! But a very average showing, perhaps playing to the midwestern palate.

I visited here with a friend since this is her favorite Indian place and this might be mine too after dinner. She's in a strip mall, but as I'm finding out most great places are. It has a very family dinner table vibe with fast and friendly service. I got the tandoori chicken - piping hot, tasty, and the portion size was HUGE- easily had enough for lunch the next day. My friend got the lamb roganjosh and normally I'm not a huge fan of lamb, but I was pleasantly surprised how tender it was.

We picked up a takeout dinner from India Palace. The food was great. It was ready right on time. The gentleman working at the front of the restaurant got us our food quickly and was very polite. Since we got take out, I didn't stop to absorb the vibe too much, but the restaurant seemed clean, comfortable, and classy enough to fit the bill for a pleasant dine-in experience. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala. My wife was sharing with my mother in law who has only had Indian food a couple of times, and they got the butter chicken. My sister in law also got the Chicken Tikka. All of the food was delicious. I especially appreciated that when you choose a spice level for your order, you get food that matches what you asked for. We ordered three different spice levels, and "not spicy" was, as requested, not at all spicy. Medium spicy wasn't scorching hot but was noticeably spicy. A level spicier than that left a fitting lingering burning feeling. We also got the garlic naan. It's a subtly different style of naan than I'm used to... maybe a little fluffier... and I really liked it. Also, I was worried that the naan orders might be too small when they said it was one piece. Each piece is quite large, though. I don't live in the area and only visit a couple of times a year, so I'm not sure /when/ I'll get back to Indian Palace, but I'll be happy to go back when the opportunity arises.

WOWI've lived in Plymouth for two+ years now and unfortunately never tried the local Indian food scene. Unfortunate because I'm now in love... and have to face the reality that I waited this long to meet India Palace. I ordered the Chicken Madrasi and (naturally) a side of garlic naan to soak up any leftover sauce from the main dish. Being the tough guy I am - I went with the "Indian hot" or the "very very hot" on the restaurant's heat spectrum. Go big or go home, right? Post meal - my nose is a little runny, my tongue is tingling, and my lips are slightly numb. My stomach. Full and happy. Pure perfection! I should've napped before writing this - but I couldn't wait. The Chicken Madrasi was AMAZING. Not only did the heat meet my expectations (where so many places fall flat as Minnesota "nice spice" level), but the flavor was sooooo good. Delicious some would say. The complex spice combo hits your taste buds wonderfully. Every piece of chicken and little onion, pepper, and tomato popped with flavor. I mixed the heaping pile of rice with the sauce and dug in further. I simply couldn't stop attacking this dish! I honestly wish I could've ordered the rice already doused in the Madrasi sauce. Next time I'll ask. Could be a six star review. While it was difficult to stop chowing down and put my fingers to the keyboard - I have leftovers for tomorrow and boy am I just as excited as I was tonight to continue spooning mouthfuls. Check this place out. Bring your stretchy pants. And be ready to cry happy, aromatic tears. Indian food is in Plymouth and it is FOR REAL!

A new dish that we have been enjoying a lot is the Chicken Tikka Grill. (This is the name on the online ordering menu; on the regular menu it is called Tandoori Chicken Tikka). It is a generous portion of tasty chicken and wonderful vegetables. We also regularly enjoy Chicken Tikka Masala, plus Garlic Naan.

India Palace was a great lunch spot to meet up with friends. They had a buffet that offered hot chai tea. I've never seen that at any other place. The staff was impeccable service wise. The food it self was great. I prefer spicier but since it was a buffet I know they must accommodate everyone's taste buds. This was the first time I tried the Indian dessert balls that were in syrup....delicious. My only wish is for garlic madness as well as regular naan.
