My friends and I took a chairlift to the top of Mount Gilboa for a picturesque view of the Autumn colors. $8.25 per ticket purchased online ahead of time from the Three Rivers Park website. Mount Gilboa is one of the highest elevations in Hennepin County. At the top, we got to enjoy live music, food and drinks then we walked down the hill to exit the event. Such a fun event for the whole family in autumn, and so well worth the price!

Laps on laps on laps. If you are a snowboarder who loves riding the park, this place is simply amazing.Located about 20 minutes from downtown, nestled into a hillside, lies a tiny ski area, where a top-to-bottom run takes about 30 seconds (I timed it), there is probably one of the best snowboard parks in the country. WHAT?? That is a tall claim, you say. So let's start from the top. 1. It is in the burbs, not a 3-hour drive away. I moved here from NYC, and Vermont was 5 hours away to get big mountain skiing.2. You can park next to the lifts for a few bucks an hour. At a big resort, you are schlepping through a big parking lot or taking a shuttle bus from some remote lot, madness.3. The base lodge is nice and new and while basic, it has everything you need.4. It has night skiing, so you can literally ride 12 hours a day.5. The park has a high-speed rope tow, which is an amusement park ride unto itself. It is like 20-30 seconds to the top. This means no waiting in a lift line for 5-10 minutes, riding a lift for 10 minutes, then riding most of the trail just to get to a small park. Very efficient here.6. Trick progression - you can do about 2 laps per minute, so you can really work on tricks on features and jumps, building confidence to nail the things you are working on.I can't wait to go back soon!

Very popular in the middle of the city ski resort. I tried it on the summer when they had a party with live music. Free parking and entrance. Well organized party with police, food, beer and families. No cars around: no pollution. The grass is greener on this side of the season !

The terrain park was the best ever this past season thanks to the crew at HSSA named the Snow Pigs! Over 200 changes throughout their ski season. Hyland is a small area but for being located in the city it is top notch. It was a bustling place with people getting out and enjoying the winter season instead of being stuck inside during this pandemic. It was great to see a lot of people trying out skiing and boarding for the first time this year. I heard that it was the busiest season in memory for Hyland. The staff there was very friendly and accommodating also. Thanks y'all for a great season. The terrain park was A#1.#tellyourmom!

I signed up for adult snowboard lessons this winter (3 lessons in total). My first lesson was last week, and the instructor was a no-show. A staff member wandered around for 20 minutes trying to track down the snowboard instructor. Ultimately, my class did not happen and I went home. The staff member apologized and said they would speak to a supervisor about what had happened. Fast forward to this morning when I'm supposed to have my second snowboard lesson. The instructor is a no-show again! The staff once again had no idea what was going on. I was finally refunded in full for my lessons. So disappointed!

It's great for beginners to novice.Ski lift prices are affordable. It can get a bit crowded. Ski runs are not bad. We had a great time and we will comeback.

So I went to a ski park in the middle of summer. There is a grill that is open all year as is the beautiful building. The parking lot was moderately busy although I don't know where everyone was but I assume there are indoor activities and meeting rooms. The grill is convenient and has the usual tacos, some salads and ah yes grilled foods as the sign says. There is a windowed dining area that can be used for anything I suppose. Coffee comes from an auto dispenser that you hold the cup under. It seemed fresh and acceptable and not expected to be great for a buck twenty-five.

I had a similar experience with rude staff as other reviewers, as well as my friends there with me that day. Beyond rude. I have never been treated like this; I'm a very friendly, go-with-the-flow, forgiving kind of person. It was our first time here and I need a little guidance as to where to go and what to do. One woman scolded me for "being late" as I approached the rental area (apparently we were supposed to get our equipment before a big school group that was coming in???). So we get our ski boots, then proceed to get helmets. The helmet woman sighs and rolls her eyes at us because we are on the other side of the rope (the entrance was blocked by a group of people). She then asks us if we are with the school group. "No, we're here with our homeschool group," I say. To which she responds, smiling, "I can tell you homeschool; you don't follow instructIons." "Excuse me?" I'm dumbfounded. "When you arrived you were instructed to get your helmet first, then your boots." I called her out on her rudeness and explained that it was my first time here and I was given and I was doing my very best to remember all the instructions. She wouldn't even look me in the eye.To be fair, one of the employees was super nice to us after seeing the interaction between me and Rhonda. I complained to the manager, and he gave us free lift tickets, but not free rental. I think we deserved a totally free ski day on them for the treatment we received, but even that wouldn't entirely make up for the disrespect we received that day.My guess is that, given that this is owned and run by the parks and rec department, and is NOT a private business, it runs more like the DMV. I agree that its amazing location right in the city is the only thing keeping people coming back. Fun little slopes.

Went skiing on New Year's day. Upon arriving, we had to get tickets - which is outside. They only had one window open, on such a busy day but the line moved quick enough. Gear rental was very well organized and the staff were super helpful in fitting the gear correctly. I was very pleased with the up to date equipment that was in good shape (better organized and better gear then the other ski places in the metro). I guess the chalet is newly remodeled. It was very nice, had some food options, and clean restrooms. The chair lifts went quickly, and even with the people present there was plenty of room for us beginners to have fun. The terrain park area seemed to be full of Xbox pre-teen brats but we didn't have any business being over there. We stuck to the easier slopes.Had a great time, and by paying on-line for our tickets on the Three Rivers Park District website we saved $23 bucks. (You must do this two days in advance or more). Great deal, great time, great service, great equipment. I can see eventually out-growing this place since the runs are so small and easy, but for newbies it really is a great place! This may be our families new New Year's Day tradition!

Pretty good for how close it is to the metro area, but can get quite crowded and the slopes are shallow.
