House of curry is amazing! They are a small family owned business in rosemount that has been here for years, food is always fresh and so flavorful. Very nice staff and delicious food! Our favorites are the house of curry rice meal and the chicken Kottu, can be done to your spice liking. Favorite sides are the potatoes, green beans and the lentils and the papadam is so crispy and crunchy! They have a brunch buffet as well that I haven't tried but want to!

Based on Yelp reviews, I decided to have lunch here. I was the only person in the dining room. The waiter suggested their House of Curry Rice Meal: Basmati rice with a choice of curried chicken, lamb, shrimp or fish and a choice of 2 sides and 2 papadam lentil crisps. I chose the lamb curry with lentils in coconut milk and julienned beets in coconut milk. All were good, but could have had more complexity in flavorful. The lamb stew meat had a slight chew that could have been braised a little longer, but overall a good meal nonetheless. The ambiance is casual cafe style dining. I could see and hear the owners watching TV in the kitchen although it was not distracting to me, it doesn't look professional!

Excited to find this place. Went with a woman from Sri Lanka today to the Sunday buffet. Highly recommend the brunch as it was a great way to try more dishes as I had never had Sri Lankan food before. The flavors were deep and intense and soooo good. Some, like the chicken biryana, reminded me of southern Indian cuisine. It was great. Could not try everything (my fault) but the fried cauliflower was a show stopper for me. It's just amazing. Looking forward to trying more based on the reviews here. Shrimp was divine, the devilled chicken was so good and unique. Curry was thin; I would have expected a bowl or rice, but there was none. Dal was very good and reminded me of India. I will definitely be back to try more dishes!

First, a pet peeve, ma bete noir, mi queja habitual. If it's your first time eating a specific ethnic cuisine, you're not honestly in a position to evaluate whether it's authentic or not. You can of course, tell us if it tastes good to you. I would never presume to declare a place to have authentic White American home cooking, my mother was Japanese, our neighbors Jewish, I wouldn't know authentic White Midwestern home cooking from Kraft macaroni and cheese in a box. I've heard it involves a can of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom in every entrée but since my White friends laugh after they say that, I'm not really sure that it's true. Now if your name is Shamil, you're qualified to tell us, he did, and he's right. This is authentic Sri Lankan. Authentic doesn't necessarily mean good. My aunt Kamala's cooking is authentic Sri Lankan, but after a few decades and two English-Desi children, I'm afraid it just isn't very good. Rebecca clearly knows Sri Lankan, gives a great review, she seems to have lived there a while. House of Curry is both authentic, and good, thank you Shamil and Rebecca. And he is also correct that the prawn curry is delicious, but I question the judgement involved in Yelping that it's better here than his wife's cooking. If she's Sri Lankan, yes a very honest people but in most cultures husbands shouldn't be comparing their wives' cooking unfavorably. I'm a sociologist, trust me on this one. There aren't a lot of choices for authentic Sri Lankan in North America, there are maybe a dozen in New York City, twice as many in the second largest Sri Lankan city in the world, Toronto/Mississauga and once in a while one pops up elsewhere. This is the closest one to Milwaukee so how good is it? I'll be making the trip again here just to eat here. For appetizers, the fish cutlets and papadum are excellent. The chicken curry (on the bone of course) is very good, I agreed with Shamil already about the shrimp, both the coconut curry, and the deviled are perfect. The dal is also delicious, Sri Lankan is not that different from Tamil Nadu or Kerala versions of lentil curry but distinct from northern Indian styles. The Pol Sambol, my favorite, was good, I've had better. I was disappointed in the kottu, but in all fairness that's a Sri Lankan street food, like hot dogs are to New York City, or Italian beef is to Chicago. Mine was overdone on a busy day, this wouldn't be a problem on the streets of Columbo. The potato curry was a little bland. They have string hoppers but not regular appam. For dessert the wattlapan (we always called it "What'll happen?" which did not amuse any of my aunties) is some of the best I've ever had. The rice isn't Sri Lankan rice, which is pretty hard to get here, though the authentic Sri Lankan restaurant in Madison Wisconsin was able to get it until they closed down. KJ's Curry Bowl (the Madison place) suffered in part from negative reviews because they weren't like other Indian or South Asian restaurants (Sri Lankan cuisine doesn't include basmati rice, ghee, or Indian flatbreads... that's my naan disclosure statement). Please, look at a map before coming here, yes Sri Lanka is part of South Asia, but South Asia is a big and diverse sub-continent. The further south you get the hotter the food is, and served properly Sri Lankan food is hotter than any cuisine except Thai or Vietnamese (when served authentically). If you come here with White people, you're just not going to get it authentically spicy even if your name is Rohan. The one negative is why this isn't a five star restaurant. They rely on local, White, volunteer waitstaff who have not been trained in any way. The fellow was very nice, but he didn't know what any of the dishes were, didn't know anything about Sri Lankan cuisine, and didn't seem to realize that a customer could have had any experience with Sri Lankan cooking. This was frustrating. When the Chief of Staff tried greeting him in Sinhalese, then Tamil, he didn't even acknowledge she was trying to talk to him with a simple "I'm sorry I don't speak Singhalese or Tamil. This isn't just a problem for someone who knows what he wants, I felt bad that the couple near me who were trying Sri Lankan food for the first time weren't given any introduction or orientation to our cuisine, no suggestions for the first time, and in fact they thought they were in an Indian restaurant and this misconception was never addressed.

10+ dollars for 6 prices of chicken wing that was so over cook it was like chicken jerkey with that said the coconut curry was just ok and the shrimp fried rice was nothing special or should I say what shrimp. How do a restaurant put 4 to 5 small shrimp in an order, and when i say small, it was like a jumbo shrimp cut in 3's. The dog was happy though wit the wings. Sorry, but if there is no one for quality contr, l don't server food you wouldn't eat your self.

Sri Lankan food is hard to find in the US, so I was really excited to try House of Curry in Rosemount. This place is definitely worth a trip to the suburbs. We started with the vegetable rolls ($4) which are basically breaded egg rolls filled with spiced vegetables. They were delicious and vegan by default. The dhal curry ($11, vegan by default) is light and flavorful and nicely seasoned. It went really well with the godhamba roti ($2.50), a thin, flaky and slighty chewy bread exclusive to Sri Lanka. The ala hodi ($9) is a coconut milk soup filled with potatoes. I thought this dish would be thicker, more like a curry, but it's still delicious and deeply savory.Lastly, the bandakka thelada ($10) was vegan, like much of the rest of the menu, and nicely done. Okra is hard to cook well, but they do a good job with it here. The only drawback was that the kottu roti here is made with egg and can't be modified to be vegan. That was a bummer, as this is the national dish of Sri Lanka and one of my favorites.House of Curry is a great spot and makes excellent Sri Lankan food. Check it out.

I've been going here for years now (since around the time they opened) and I absolutely love it! Sri Lankan food is AMAZING, Amd this place does not disappoint! I can't say enough good things about the food here. My go to meal here is the string hoppers, the string hoppers are like a thin patty made of thin white rice noodles (it comes with like 12). I love that this meal comes with a curry sauce, Kiri Hodi (a sweet thinner sauce) and Coconut Sambol. I layer on as much of each that I want on my string hoppers and the combo is DELICIOUS! My daughter has tried a few different dishes here and loves them all. She's done the Ala Hodi (potato curry), the chicken curry and the Dhal Curry. She normally gets roti on the side as well. We normally get a side of vegetable rolls to start with. Then if we are looking for a little extra we get a Mango Lassi to start or finish the meal with. It is like a sweet mango smoothie, but yogurt based and thinner texture.

Wow. Have you ever had Sri Lankan? I hadn't either until today. Absolutely a win. It was quite out of the way (I live in Edina/SLP), but it was 100% worth the trip. If you want to try something new and different, give this place a try! We came here to celebrate a family friend's birthday, and boy, can he pick a restaurant! We ordered several dishes. We started out with the spicy cauliflower, which was absolutely fantastic. It's fried in a wonderful batter--spicy and a bit tangy with (I think) fenugreek--and offers a perfect balance of flavors and texture. Don't miss this one!We also had the vegetable kottu, which is a Sri Lankan street food. It's absolutely delicious. It's a lovely melange of chopped veggies and egg, all fried together. It comes with a gravy (mine was yellow lentil-based), and it's an absolute winner! I have a bit left over for lunch (who am I kidding? Breakfast.), which is always good. We also got to try the watalappan, which is a custard-like confection made of eggs, coconut milk, and jaggery (think a slightly more complex brown sugar). Friends, that stuff is amazing! It's both familiar and different, and it somehow tastes like home.

Excellent food! Fast and kind service. This is a HIDDEN GEM!!! If you haven't tried Sri Lankan food, this should be your go to! Lamb Kottu is out of this world. But do not skip the fried cauliflower. So much deep and rich flavor. Coconut curry is also wonderful. You can pick your spice level, so do not be nervous!! Great for meat lovers and vegetarians alike. Small dining area with comfortable seating. Highly highly recommended. My whole family walked away stuffed and happy!
