House of Coates

One of my favorite places for a great meal .Old dashed bar and grill great service this place will make you feel right at home . From burgers to prime rib , chicken or fish you won't go wrong .

This bar has a very friendly small town feel! We enjoyed burgers and fries. The bartender was super nice and helpful!

After visiting the Minnesota state capitol building in St. Paul, MN, we stopped at the House of Coates for dinner, on our way to Rochester. My wife had the hamburger with sweet potato fries and I had the hamburger steak with fries and dinner roll. Very nice rustic atmosphere interior. Service was excellent.

Great service, the broasted chicken perfectly crispy on the outside and super juicy on the inside. I know this place is known for their burgers, will need to come back and see!Ambience is what you'd expect from a long standing country establishment. Its very roomy- you'd never think that from the outside. Crowds flock here, so come 4-5p you will be waiting however the staff is AMAZING In getting everyone in and out in a timely fashion. You are never rushed which I am always grateful for. Or feel pressured to hurry up. Nice folks great service

Do you just love finding that needle in a haystack? I know I do! And I did with House of Coates!! Situated on S. Hwy 52 and Co Rd 46, NE corner, this place has an amazing staff, relaxed atmosphere and some awesome food. I was looking for some broasted chicken and found it here!!!

From the second I walked in I regretted it. Funky smell from behind the bar. But that's the least of it. The "bartender" (Kim by the receipt) is terrible. Very rude. Lots of attitude. She told the couple next to me at bar "when you close your menus I'll know you're ready to order". Who says that? I asked what IPAs she had and she replied "oh I don't know" then started reading the tap handles that were right in front of me. I said I CAN read but was interested in the bottled beer hidden from view in the coolers behind her". She comes across as no matter how busy the place is, she is WAY overworked and put upon. House of Coates you get. C- at best. Too bad as I love to support local establishments.

Stopped in for some cheese curds.We have driven by this place numerous times on our way to Mayo Clinic. Seems to always have lots of cars, in the parking lot no matter what time of day it is. We'll we finally stopped in to check the place out.I'm so glad we did. Had a bloody Mary and cheese curds. Both were very good. Interesting twist on the bloody, in addition to the normal veggies they throw in a beef stick.Next time we stop, we'll try to time it for lunch or dinner. Also, check out the the daily specials on the menus I attached.

Food was good.....................friendly atmosphere.Looks like it's full of regulars! Not expensive. Definitely a real dive bar. Free parking.

Best burgers!! All is good with great service and good prices!! Best place to go on your way up and on your way down from Minneapolis!

Great food and great service! This is a hidden gem at a great price!. This is worth the drive!
