Hooligan's Neighborhood Pub

Decided to have a couple drinks and watch some football so popped into a very crowded Hooligans on a Friday. For as crowded as it was, it didn't seem loud and there were plenty of places to sit, just not at the bar). Not having a happy hour was disappointing but our waitress softened the blow by letting us know that Shells and Shells Light were $2/bottle. We shared onion rings (came out just like I expected with large, beer battered rings) and Reuben Tots (not very reubeny, so I would skip those next time).

Average food, ok service. The Black and Blue Burger was a typical frozen patty with some blue cheese sauce squirted on. The chilly was actually pretty good. The server was very young and inexperienced. This is a large room and probably great for seeing bands. It has a nice stage, bar area, pool tables and raised seating. Probably won't be back unless everything else is closed.

Hooligan's is one of those rare gems that survive in Mankato. It is the kind of place where the regulars seem to know one another but where a guy can wander in and feel welcome. The popcorn is the best in town, the beer is cold, and the food is surprisingly good. Lots of space so you don't feel crowded and the service is consistently good. We live out of town but more often than not when we are in Kato we end up here. Did I mention that the beer is cold?

Customer Service is last on their priority list. we once had our waitress walk by us 17 times while all four of our drinks were empty and another 10 while she got our drinks. just now i waited 5 minutes to order a beer while the bartender held someones baby . the food is mediocre at best. On a positive note, the waitresses are good looking but that's all they have going for them at hooligans mankato. i would not recommend hooligans to anyone.

My mother suggested this place for a quick bite recently and our experience was less than stellar.Parking: huge private lot located on the "backside" of the old Mankato East mall. Never expect a problem finding a spot in this huge lot. In fact, there's so much excess room I took my teenagers here to practice driving :)Atmosphere: Small town burger/beer joint slash sports bar. Big screen TV, has a stage for bands, lots of tables, huge bar, multiple pool tables and of course- pull tabs. What says class like a pull tab counter? Oh, you don't come to a place called Hooligan's to find class - don't worry, you won't find any here either. This is what my dad used to call a "beer joint" This is an apt description. Very, very busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Cheap food, cheap beer....you know - a BEER JOINT :)Service: Really, truly awful. My waitress was a pretty, very young woman who I'm sure the older guys love to oggle but she's not so sure at all how to provide service. Took over 20 minutes to take our order, after food arrived did not check back once. Not.Once. My beer was empty that entire time and I was not about to flag her down. How does a waitress such as this expect to earn a tip? Keep her job? Does she even KNOW what her job is?? How does this place stay in business and not drive away every single customer? I am without a clue.Food: Just what you'd expect from a small town beer joint. Burgers and various fried foods. I had a breaded, deep fried fish sandwich with onion rings which was actually pretty good. Exactly what you'd expect from deep fried bar food but one touch I appreciated was the grill toasted bun. If you want a cheap bar food meal, try this place but I'd recommend you sit at the BAR and don't risk the poor table service. We don't plan to go back.

Hooligan's was packed tonight with only one bar tender and two servers! They were amazing explaining the possible delay pleasantly and keeping a smile on their faces. They had serious team work helping each other.The food is always good here but tonight I want to tell the boss how lucky he is to have Carson D on his team. Clearing tables, taking orders, serving food and smiling the whole time!The two young woman working tonight were also doing an amazing job and even the Cook came out with meals when things were so busy.

Visited Hooligans for a bingo Saturday! Bingo was great, great drinks, and great food. But the most outstanding part was our server Lindsey. We had a table of 12 and she didn't write a single thing down but got everything exactly correct. She gave us a quick service but was also personable and kind. If you get her as a server consider yourself lucky! And tip her well!

Do not recommend. Some locals love it for some odd reason but I have been there a couple times and each time I got terrible service and food.

Service is slow, the bartenders do not pay attention you. They seem more interested in there phones then guest service. Even to get a tab and payout is troublesome, definitely wont be back with that service
