Hi Tempo SnowSports & WaterSports

I am so thankful for Hi Tempo's new high-performance ski demo program! I've been wondering how the women's HEAD skis perform, so I decided to rent the Head SuperJoy ski. In the shop, this ski is very light, and I was skeptical that this ski could be considered a strong, advanced ski. However, when I took a "test drive" at Afton Alps, I was shocked by the agility of this ski, specifically its maneuverability on moguls. Since the ski is so light, I was able to keep a steady rhythm in the troughs, and once I exited the moguls I could immediately find a strong powerful rhythm on the groomed trail. Thanks, Hi Tempo, for this awesome "try before you buy" option! I should mention that the store will credit a rental price towards the purchase of a ski :)

When I needed to buy new ski boots because my previous pair literally shattered off of my feet, Hi-Tempo was there with just the boots I needed, at a good price and with knowledgeable and helpful staff to help me get the best fitting pair of ski boots I've ever owned.So, logically, when I decided that this would be the year for me to finally wrap my head around this whole "snowboarding thing" they were my go-to guy, er.. store. I stopped in mostly just to figure out what size boot I needed, since it is a bit different than fitting a ski boot or a shoe, and walked out with a really comfy, and kind of snazzy looking, pair of boots for under $200.

I came here last weekend to check out my latest lust, a Hobie Mirage Pro Angler kayak (http://www.hobiecat.com/fishing/models_proangler.html). They are the only listed dealer of Hobie products in the Twin Cities.The shop is small with a lot of products packed in, but not so much that you can't get around. They make good use of wall space.When I walked in, there was a young lady in her late teens/early 20s that got out of her chair from behind the counter to tell me about the Pro Angler when I told her what I was there for. She spent a good few minutes telling me about the kayak and was very knowledgeable when I asked her questions.They sell the full line of Hobie products and even have free on water demos where you can try out a Hobie kayak to see if you like it. They alternate between White Bear Lake, Lake Calhoun, and Lake Minnetonka. The schedule is kind of hidden on their site, so here is the link, http://www.hitempokayaks.com/Hobie_kayak_demo_dates.html. They sell the demos at the end of the season for a discount.I was very impressed with the young attendants of the store. They knew what they were talking about. It was obvious that the owner let's them try out products so they can talk about them. It was also obvious that they have a passion for water sports, so you weren't talking to a teenager who was just there for the job. They were there because they wanted to share their passion.When I'm ready to buy, I'll be back.

When I had my sailboat on Lake Calhoun a couple seasons back a storm came through and pulled several blocks out of their rivets. Hi-Tempo reriveted my mast quickly and professionally and the work has held up for several seasons now. Top notch work!

I bought a pair of snowpants on clearance and they weren't quite the right size so I attempted to return them, although when I brought them up to the cashier, they informed me all clearance sales were final. I was not told this initially when I made the purchase and now I own an expensive pair of snowpants that I have no use for. I have been a customer here over the years when I was involved in alpine racing and have run into this same issue multiple times now. This is bad business practice and unfortunately they just lost a loyal customer for good.

They had a kayak trailer I was looking all over for. I called, paid, and they had it setup and ready to go by the next morning. They were very friendly and have a great selection of Yakima and Hobie products.

Bought an Outback in Feb 2016. Bought an Oasis in March 2016. The place is great. Customer service is great. The best. Jeremy is number one.

Does this business sell ski clothing, gloves, base layers, ski and snowboard pants??? Would like to see something on the website regarding this. Granted skis, boots, helmets,and bindings are big ticket items, but once people own these items the next investment is outerwear. Do you think you might want to include some information on the website, I guess not. I have purchased clothing in the past from Hi Tempo, but I don't want to waste time visiting a store that might not have anything I would be interested in.
