I always drove past this place on my way to work, but never actually went in it. Just laughed at the sign usually displaying a quirky message as I drove by. Finally went in while doing some laundry, and it was nice- good variety. But most importantly, the staff was really kind. When I mentioned I was doing laundry, they gave me a free laundry bag as well as some laundry money-saving tips. It was really nice. Definitely give this place a try.

This might be my favorite convenience store of all time. The snack and beverage selection is surprisingly extensive and interesting given the size of the shop. The cashiers are friendly, laid back, helpful, and in my experience, pretty funny. My impression is that they enjoy their jobs. The large sign outside consistently features cheeky and clever slogans that are updated frequently. The one they have on display now prompted me to write this review. They also have seasonally appropriate flowers and decorations outside of the store that I really enjoy. It adds a lot. Someone there is very much a details person and I do pay attention. This might seem like a love letter to Happy Dan's, and admittedly, it is. It's a place that helps me to enjoy Mankato. Just thinking about Happy Dan's makes me smile. I can't say that about too many gas stations located in strip malls. Visit Happy Dan's. If you're not a total dick, I think that you'll be glad you did.
