Grand Ole Creamery

I've had grand old creamery at their St Paul location before and was excited to see another one near Lake Nokomis. This one's a lot smaller, only has one patio table for guests, and the line can get kind of long, but it's all pretty worth it if you're craving ice cream. I personally don't think their ice cream quality itself or flavors stand out to me, but for $8 their 4 flavor waffle bowl is pretty value and it's the perfect sharing size for 2-3 people. Their taro ice cream was surprisingly my favorite of the four that we got and I'd be willing to come back after another summers day at the lake.

This ice cream shop feels nostalgic in the best way! Friendly staff, delicious ice cream (samples available!), and outdoor seating perfect for summer nights. My friends ordered cookie dough, and I ordered taro.

No secret here this is Phenomenal ice cream! Great flavor selection all the classics with some inventive ice cream as well. The 5 scoop sampler is a really great deal and fun way to try a variety .. keep on rocking

So happy to live so close to this gem of an ice creamery! I'd describe their ice cream as creamy, rich, and refreshing! It's not too heavy and I love how many great flavors they have to choose from. I also appreciate that you can get 2 big scoops for ~7 dollars and 5 mini scoops for 8 if you'd like to try a bunch of flavors! The place is tiny and doesn't have any tables that seat more than 4 on the patio, but it's such a close walk to the lake that you could absolutely sit by the water with a cone. Speaking of cones, they make theirs fresh and ofcourse the inside smells amazing because of it I understand why this place is a local staple

$6 for the smallest size, which is easily enough for two, so bring a friend or a big appetite! The flavors were pretty standard for the most part, with a few more unusual ones. There were about a dozen total, though there was room in the case for twice that so perhaps they weren't yet in full summer swing. The two scoopers that afternoon were friendly and very patient, if unhelpful in recommending a flavor. After several samples, I opted for taro and raspberry flake, which were both tasty but not extraordinary. The outdoor seating is nice, but I was heading to Minnehaha Falls next so I brought my pink and purple scoops with me and ate them next to the waterfall. 10/10, would absolutely recommend the ice cream + waterfall situation if you're planning out your afternoon. I probably would've given Grand Ole three stars otherwise, since it's solidly "just okay," but I thoroughly enjoyed eating it with a good view and the sound of rushing water, so it worked out beautifully.

My partner and I are from California, and whenever we come to MN to visit family, we always are sure to make a stop at Grand Ole Creamery! Our go to order is the birthday cake ice cream. I feel like most cake batter ice cream flavors I've had are overwhelmingly sweet and tend to leave a saccharine mouth feel, but this ice cream is so decadent and creamy without coating your throat in sugar. The sprinkles and chunks of angel food cake swirled throughout the dessert remind me of this Pillsbury cake ice cream flavour my mom used to buy for me when I was a kid. The staff are also really personable and make the experience more enjoyable!

Still no response from anyone! They've stolen my money and refuse to give it back, apparently. Awesome. Have the day you deserve.

This place is small , almost hidden but wow , you walk in and it smells amazing. They have fresh waffle cones and sugar cones etc , and the ice cream is absolutely delicious. Great service.
