Gran Plaza Mexican Grill

Girlfriend and I have been dating almost 14 years, and visiting her family in Faribault now and then for most of that time, but never had I tried any of the Mexican restaurants in town. I know there is some Hispanic presence in town, and this was recommended. We were seated immediately, and of course tortilla chips and salsa followed shortly thereafter. Chips were good; light and flavorful. Salsa was a bit thin, and perhaps could have used a bit more heat, but was a good starter.I opted for the Fajitas Guadalajara, for a couple reasons. I wanted a sampler of their various proteins, and fajitas, sans tortillas/rice/beans, are a favorite leftover of mine for a great morning scramble.All the meats were tender and full of flavor, though the shrimp may have been a touch over. I would have also preferred a bit more char on the peppers and onions, also, but everything else was spot on. Barb and I also split a pitcher of strawberry margaritas, which finished the meal off perfectly. We also had a nice view of a passing thunderstorm from our window booth.

So good. Waitstaff were wonderful and attentive.... All the dishes passing by looked delish. We tried the fajitas combo. Often fajitas come grizzly. Not here. Soft warm shells. Cheese sauce yum. I'm so full. The water tastes like chlorine so next time I'll bring my own.

Still a great place for lunch, quick friendly service, a very friendly south of the boarder atmosphere! We are so fortunate to have them in Faribault! Lots of close by parking!

Love the homemade chorizo street tacos! Staff is friendly! The chips and salsa is great!

Reading how many people say this was "authentic" makes me think that they have only ever been to all inclusives in touristy parts of Mexico. Walking in we knew we were in trouble right away. The clientele were mostly older and white. Not saying that older white people don't enjoy authentic Mexican food, but these were the people who can't pronounce chipotle or tortilla, so...We were starving so we ordered quickly. I got enchiladas with salsa verde. I love salsa verde. It is tangy, bright, and usually has a good kick. This was BLAND. Like someone dyed some water green. It just was not good. The beef filling was also just so bland. It was like they were afraid of using salt because it would raise their clienteles blood pressure too much. My husband's food wasn't much better. We left most of our plates uneaten because it was just so boring and flavorless. You get complimentary chips and salsa with your meal. Again, just not good. The chips were grainy and had an almost burnt flavor to them. The salsa was just watery and disappointing. No spice or heat at all from it. It was food, I can say that. 21/100

I have always liked Mexican food, this one is the first Mexican restaurant I tired when I first came to the US, it's really good, definitely authentic Mexican food here, their Fajitas is the best

By far the best Mexican food, service, and friendliness in Faribault. Prices are good and portions are generous. One of the top places in town for sure, if not the best.

Fantastic food and fantastic service probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I don't think I will ever go to another Mexican restaurant without having to compare it to this one

Great place for a cheaper lunch/dinner. Friendly staff and room to sit and dine without feeling cramped.

We have always had great food and service from Gran Plaza. I have tried nearly everything on their menu over the years we've been going and I have found nothing that wasn't flavorful and great. Salvador and his team are awesome and you should go and visit them!
