So, I used to eat at Ginelli's way too much when I worked downtown years ago. You have no idea how happy I was to learn that I was again working nearby. This is THE ONLY pizza shop I've found that can compete with the pizza back home in New York. I try to keep my visits down to no more than twice a week. I'm working on losing weight, so I've gotta control myself. My go-to is a slice of Supreme with a Cherry Coke. Hits the spot each and every time. The crew who work here are nice, funny, and seem to not only enjoy their work. They also enjoy working together. I never regret my visits here, and I believe that your experience will be the same.

Good fast pizza option for lunch esp when I am here Minneapolis for a convention and need in and out time crunch. They were pretty fast and decently good. The only complaint is that my pie dough was uneven. My friend and I ordered a small pie and one side of the pizza is half as thick as the other side.

Ginellis Pizza served us our last meal of the Minneapolis vacation. After hours hiking along the Mississippi River shoreline parks and through the skyscraper canyons of downtown, the clock was ticking before we had to be at the airport. My brother and I were in the mood for a relatively fast and tasty last meal on Minnesota soil (at least in the near future). At this juncture in my Minneapolis reviews I will pass on that downtown Minneapolis is lacking in national fast food chains with the exception of Subway, Potbelly, and a couple other establishments. However, downtown Minneapolis isn't lacking in Yelp reviews. So, we went onto Yelp which led us to the highly rated Ginellis Pizza. Little did we know that when we looked it up near where the locater has it across from IDS Center that we'd gain a lot more footsteps and loose more time. Finding this place was the equivalent of a geocoaching hunt in downtown. In the zenith of the rush hour traffic, we walked up and down 8th Street. Then Marquette Street. Then 7th Street. We still could not find it. By the time we were were unsuccessful finding it in the IDS Center I thought to myself that this would make a great commercial for the place if it really exists. We'd enter one building then try one skyway to have to go onto another. If the clock was ticking fast to making the airport, it was supersonic fast making it by closing time. Finally with a capital "F" we found this restaurant on the skyway level of 821 South 7th Street which truly was closer to 2nd Avenue. With the search over and Ginellis still open we were greeted to a large skyway level Eatery that was brightly lit and held a plentitude of tables that gave the plentitude of pizza in the appetizing display a run for the money. And speaking of run for the money, my money did not run far because their prices are exceptionally reasonable. For less than $10, I brought two slices of the Supreme pizza at $3.25 each and a bottomless soda for $1.50. The pizza was made to order. It turns out that there was a little bit more walking to do. There is a want for a restroom. While they were making the pizza, we walked across the skyway level of 821 South 7th Street where a friendly security guard escorted us to a restroom in the office wing. Back in the skyway storefront of Ginellis it was time to rest my overworked feet and work my mouth and taste buds. They really enjoyed the two generous sized New York style Supreme pizza slices. Born and raised in Metropolitan New York, Ginellis serves some delicious pizza. It can understand why it has been serving Minneapolis for around 30 years and they have developed a following to the degree of selling Ginellis shirts. I can also understand why I went on an Easter egg hunt in downtown Minneapolis trying to find a 4 Star Pizzaria. Along with the pizza was a courteous attitude. If the hours were correct, they did not hurry us to leave at the same time that they made fresh pizza for my brother and I. Trust me, if my brother and I would of known about Ginellis Pizza before the last day, there would have been more than one check-in here. If I have given you my trust, I will put it to good use by wrapping up this review with the simplest directions to Ginnelis Pizza. Here it is:1. Inside the IDS Center go up the escalator to the skyway level. 2. Head south on the skyway over Marquette. 3. Keep right and head to the skyway across 8th Street. 4. Turn left and head south in the 821 South 8th Street Building. 5. Ginellis will be on the right near 2nd Avenue. 6. Live in the moment and enjoy every bite of this delicious New York style pizza.

Decent pizza! I'm super basic & only eat cheese pizza here! They have a really good looking veggie pizza but I hate olives, and they have a good looking chicken alfredo pizza (that may only be available a certain day of the week, not sure) but I'm not a fan of meat on my pizza. It all looks good though. The garlic cheese bread is good. Sooo many carbs. Pizza is fairly priced $3-4 & some change per slice. It's almost always fresh & hot. The staff here are pretty nice & friendly. They keep the line moving pretty fast during rushes. You can dine in (plenty of seating) or take out. They do have a punch card loyalty program, you can earn a free slice of pizza. They run daily specials during the week. Located in the skyway, very easy to find.

I like how when you get home from work, there is a slice of pizza waiting for you. Whether you brought the food home earlier in the day, or somebody got it for you, is irrelevant as, the slice of pizza looked really good to eat. What I noticed was how their pepperoni slice seemed to be a little bit bigger than most places, and how the food was seeming to be bursting with flavor. Even though I hadn't even taken one bite yet. I wanted to see what it was like piping hot, so I put it in the microwave for a few seconds, and I was not disappointed. Not only was it piping hot, the slice really was bursting with flavor as I bit into it. It tasted good cold, but even better warmed up. It tasted like a slice that I had just ordered. What I liked about it, was how the dough well was doughy, and the pepperoni and even the crust itself had a freshness to it, that I even devoured the crust itself. I would definitely want to dine-in this establishment, since this was one of the best slices that I have had in a long time.

I ordered a meal via GrubHub, which I'm not doing ever again, that resulted in a cancellation.... so i had to hurry up and hit the skyway on Friday, close to the time the skyway restaurants have either ALREADY shut down or in the process of doing so. I eat at Dave's frequently, it's close and good, but decided to go to Ginellis because it's good and i had time to walk that way; plus I hadn't been there in a while (I' m the type who has to be in the mood for pizza). I walk in and I'm greeted by two people, a guy and a lady. I asked if they were closed and i was advised that they still have some pizza over there (mind you it's about 2:55pm). The guy gives me my options, Hawaiian or cheese and i chose Hawaiian, with bread sticks. I looked at the cookies (they have half priced chocolate chunk cookies after 2pm) and proceeded to tell them my Grubhub story. The lady, who I think is either the owner or manager (she's always there and always pleasant) was shocked and begin to share a story. She felt so bad for me she threw in another cookie for me. LOL She mentioned something to the guy who rang me up and i thanked them both and walked back to my building. As i ate my food... i looked at my receipt and realized out of her kindness, she only charged me $2.23 for the HUGEST slice of Hawaiian pizza I had ever seen (one of my co-workers walked by and said it was bigger than my head), 3 bread sticks with marinara and 4 cookies (each wrapped cookie has 2 cookies in them). Good food and great service!!!This is as good as it gets!

As of now I'm rating this place as okay.Got a cheese slice, which was a decent size, not as big as my NY pizza, but still filling. I agree with the reviewers that it taste like (or at least very close to) NY style pizza, which I'm always going to think is the best. It had lots of cheese, the crust was crisp and the sauce definitely had the right touch of seasoning (I could taste the oregano). I also liked this place had garlic powder as an option which I don't see often at pizza joints here. With that said my pizza was extremely salty. I'm not sure if it was the pizza or the garlic "powder" which may have actually been garlic salt. I'll have to try it again without the garlic"thing".Also while there I decided to take advantage of Wing Wednesday. I got six breaded wings and for an extra $1, six more with a side of hot sauce. These were also salty and not that great. Although they had a nice kick/spice, they were greasy, the breading was coming apart and they reminded my of Tysons chicken nuggets/tenders/wings (or a lesser quality).I'll give this place another try and just do the pizza next time around. We'll see if my rating changes.
