I was recently in a wedding held here. I remember coming here as a child on field trips, but have not been here in years. The grounds are beautiful and the entire space was ours once they closed for the day. It had rained the night before and the day of was very hot. This made the paths muddy and bugs multiply. FYI-bring or rent some large fans to circulate the air since there is no air conditioning in the brides room or barn.

I grew up going to Gibb on field trips, and attended a wonderful wedding there a few years ago but about a month ago we drove by and spotted their Country Festival and stopped in and had such a great time we bought a membership for the Ramsey County Historical Society (rchs.com) which allows us to attend many events at Gibb Farm which includes the Country Festival, a Woodcutting Weekend, Apple Festival, and Ice Cream Sundays. We are also planning on sending our son to one of the summer day camps next summer (Pioneer Pee-Wees will teach him about life on the prairie and Dakota traditions). Gibb's Farm Museum is a fantastic rural island in the city and is a definite must for families to check out.Update: good friends of ours got married here - it was a beautiful setting, and made for a memorable time.

Haven't been here since grade school. Was looking for something different to do with our toddler. Googled activities and Gibbs Farm came up with an Old Time Halloween event for today.Arrived. Parking lot was full, but there was some parking on the grass. Admission $ 8.00 per adult which included a free lunch served by the Boy Scouts.- Hot Dogs-Chips-Ice cream-Smores-Chips-Lemonade/ WaterCandle makingCookie makingCraft treat bagsWalked along the path to the little pioneer houses and teepees. You can walk through the house, school, barns. It's a cute little area with animals.Friendly staff. This is probably better suited for bigger kids.It was a nice day and a nice little event for them to host.

Went with my first graders last week and was not impressed. As a farm, was expecting more animals and hands on activities to engage students. Instead it was a lot of story telling and not well planned activities. Perhaps it was just that we had a poor guide. He was very graphic about some violent aspects of the Dakota life talking about cutting open a buffalo head and using the brains to smash on the hide and stabbing muscrats until the whole family was dead. When talking about how to hunt he aimed a crossbow at all the students and adults! At one point he demonstrated how to build a teepee. He was not very clearly about explaining what to do and at one point walked away from the wooden posts and they fell over nearly missing a 6 year olds head by inches! She would have been seriously injured had they hit her. We ended at a bracelet making activity that was very challenging for most of the 6 year olds and required a lot of adult assistance. I tried to keep things moving so we wouldn't miss our busses and reminded him that we had to meet busses and were running late. He had the nerve to tell a fellow tour guide that we were late because we "had trouble rounding up the kids".

Had our wedding ceremony (out by the tipi), dinner and reception and it couldn't have been better. We lucked out with the weather and all of the guests had a great time. It's so beautiful in the late summer with wildflowers and the kids loved the farm animals. Pretty generous policies regarding catering (we used Holy Land) and bartenders (no hard booze allowed, but we went with a licensed bartender from With A Twist for wine and beer), and we just rented our own speakers for the dancing in the barn.
