This is a lunch & shop till you drop place. I am more inclined to talk about the amazing shopping. Hence my 4 stars. The shopping here is insane. They have everything for all ages, lots of cool stuff!!!Holiday, toys, jewelry, food items, kitchy stuff, the list goes on & on. I loved the shopping more than the food.Lunch was ok...Popovers are huge and have a great light texture, served with a honey butter.Honey butter needed something..... Pot pie soup - bland, I thought it would have some little dumplings in it, none, just veggies, thick & creamy.I will return for the shopping but will probably skip lunch.

We met a friend here for lunch today. I hadn't been here in a long time. Soups, salads and sandwiches. I got the turkey on cranberry bread and a pop over. Both were very good. My husband got the egg salad on a croissant. It was a nice visit with our friend.

I found myself at the General Store Cafe for a lunch and was left disappointed and not sold on the concept. Coming very hungry and also wanting to try several things I entered and was first a bit confused since the menu is a little confusing since some of it is up on a chalkboard, some is on hidden signage on the counter. I ordered the Pasta Peas and Pesto salad (side) and it was quite bland and left me disappointed. The pesto did not have any flavor. I tried adding salt and pepper and it did not help. I also ordred the hot ham and swiss sandwich. The sandwich itself was a good lunch size and the flavor was good, but they advertise a toasted ciabatta and it was warm but not crisp. It gave me the impression it had been heated in a microwave. The sandwich did come with chips (bagged). I also tried a popover which was HUGE! The honey butter was missing flavor and could have used a pinch of salt or just flavor as a whole. The staff did not seem to be thrilled to be there and the manager was bossing the team around in quite a sassy way that I guess I could understand why they wouldn't be thrilled to work there. I think I would go here if I was at the store and found myself hungry, but wouldn't recommend it as a place to go out of the way for and eat at.

I was perusing at the General Store and was drawn in with the wonderful smell from the cafe. It wasn't just lunch time yet, so I stopped in for a cup of coffee and tried their famous popover with honey butter....which I really enjoyed! Thank you.

This is a really nice store and my wife and I were actually quite pleased that our friends, local residents chose to bring us to this unusual venue. I went into enhance the experience ordered a few cups of coffee one black ,inquired about the milk put it in and I found out it's an extra $.50 for milk well I hope you enjoy the profit that you made on your milk because we did not buy over $300 worth of stuff that my wife had in her basket. Enjoy you profit on the milk.

Super friendly always, can count on friends, colleagues, acquaintances having a good time here. The teas & coffee options tasty & plentiful. Organic delicious salads & homemade soups are delicious. Refreshing floral decor that is very Minnetonka gardening boutique-esque. A little spot of heaven on earth. Need some gift-shopping? Head next door!

I ordered 4 popovers for a lunch I was hosting. There were 4 in the case. The server turned to get bags and another server scooped one up, put it on a plate and handed the plate to another customer. My server looked at the case and said, "Oh, sorry. That's all we have."Not fair. Not happy. Not surprised though. Not a very well run operation, ever. It is nothing great but it is close to my home.

What a terrific place to catch up with a pal for lunch and then burn off the calories with a trip around the giant general store! I have to recommend the popover of course. It is served with honey butter. They reminded me of the amazing popovers that used to be available in the Dayton's sit-down full service restaurant; remember that? Yes, I did eat the entire scoop of butter, whadya want from me? I have also been told the pumpkin dessert is to die for (recipe in the general store cookbook, also available for purchase). The soups and salads all looked really good too. Can't wait to try more of a full meal next time. Enjoy!

Huge, light fluffy popovers "Yorkshire pudding" with a honey butter. A little pricey but a fun place to eat and shop for gifts and t shirts. Clean, friendly and fun place to people watch.
