Flambeau Forest Inn

A classic north woods bar that has everything you could possibly want at the end of a day on the lake.

I can't say how the food was because we didn't eat here but if you are looking for a northwoods experience complete with camo carpet and more mounts and deer horns than you can count, you came to the right place. The beer was cold too.

I have never left a review or have I in 65 years ever stiffed a waitress. It was 75 degrees outside & it was very cold in the restaurant. The overhead fans were on high. We said we were freezing and the bar was empty the fans were left on. We ate with coats on. Then we asked to order appetizers and have a few cocktails. She said " no everything had to be ordered at once or it would confuse the cook." We were the the only people in the place. We ordered soup and chili just to get out quick. The cook came out and said " who the hell orders soup and chili on a hot day." If you want to be treated by rude staff this is a great place. Another group entered and they had to get coats to continue. The waitress had a bad attitude. I wish I would've read the negative reviews.

AYCE chicken on Wednesday is very tasty. Daily specials are delicious and reasonably priced. Great service and excellent food. It's worth the trip.

We had drinks last night, the bar tender Kelly rocks, and then a fantastic fish fry! I had the pan fried walleye with hash browns and my husband had the perch and hash browns. We both enjoyed it so much. We also had their great salad bar and oh I forgot the yummy breadstick with maple butter. This is our favorite place to go for fish!!! You won't be disappointed.

I visited the Flambeau Forest Inn while visiting the area in 2017. Had a great experience and I believe I wrote a review there. Our server at that time was fantastic, food was good and drinks well above average. I was in the area again visiting a buddy who is a local. He asked where I wanted to go for dinner Saturday night and I chose the Forest Inn based on the good experience last time. Wow what an incredible mistake. There is an employee there named Tony/Toni, after witnessing her verbally accost other patrons, who left, and then started in on us to the degree it was absolutely surreal, we asked for a manager to which she claimed to be the owner. I'd certainly hope not.Let's put it like this. My wife works for a major aircraft manufacturer, I'm in technology with clients in 12 different states. Between the two of us we travel A LOT for work and A LOT for pleasure. Status on two different airlines and status with two well known hotel programs. I've eaten in hole in the wall places in third world countries and I've eaten in numerous top 10 in the world restaurants. Never, ever in my 54 years on this rock, ever experienced a dining experience like this. Wasn't just rude, but condescending, argued, verbally attacked and laughed about it like throwing out paying customers some how was good for business. As the owner of my company and my wife in a position to issue travel bulletins to hers, both of us have put this restaurant on our respective companies "NO GO" lists. Not that we have a lot of people visiting Northern Wisconsin. However this isn't a place you should try and "might get lucky if the stars align" this is one of those places to stay far away from. Clearly something changed as this place went from 3/4 star reviews a few years ago, but for the last year its been nothing but 1 and 2 stars. There is a good reason for those reviews. The current situation with "Pandemic 2020" has put more restaurants and small businesses, OUT of business than any other factor in a decade. Because of that no business owner should take any customers or their business for granted. Unfortunately this woman running the Flambeau Forest Inn missed the memo. I feel bad for those that depend on her for a job and income, she can only run people off so long before she too will be out of business and based on the last 18 months of reviews, very surprised it hasn't happened already. The restaurant business is a cruel mistress to the very best, it is even worse if you can't perform be it quality of food or quality of service. That said I genuinely feel bad for her, the exchange that took place suggested this wasn't just someone in the wrong role, but rather a mean, spiteful, vindictive person likely in need of some mental health help.

So I drove up from The Great State of Texas to meet some friends, see the wonderful fall foliage, and drink some Spotted Cow beer. During my travels, I stopped at FFI. I read a few Yelp reviews and thought that it couldn't be that bad. How on Earth could a place continue to operate with such poor customer service?Well, the 1 and 2 star reviews are spot on. In a word... rude.I was thinking that I walked into a Dick's Last Resort. That's how poorly I was treated. I was waiting for a camera crew to come out from some new iteration of Candid Camera. But alas, it wasn't.I'll simply state this in as 'few words' that I can. I would have been far better off stopping at some random cabin along my route.

Had the broasted chicken dinner! So good place was packed make reservations. Our waitress was excellent and ambiance was amazing!

Great place to stop in and feel like your local bar, but also experience the North Woods of Wisconsin. I had wings, and they were good. The beer was cold and the bar staff was friendly and efficient. Will probably make this a regular spot when I'm back in town.

The chicken is some of the best I've ever had and the fish fry is great! The pan seared walleye on Friday is ridiculously good. Come for the food and stay for Linda, she's an excellent host that makes for a fun evening!
