El Sombrero

I have been coming to el sombrero for years and I loved it but recently I was told they had a health inspector come in and they were told they can no longer make Chile rellenos. I'm really not sure that's what they said, rather I'm sure it had to do with contamination of the eggs which isn't good, but I don't believe they said they couldn't make them anymore. Well they still have it on the menu and don't tell you it has changed when you order it. They literally put the Chile in the fryer by itself. They don't stuff it and only put a tiny bit of sauce and cheese on top. Chile relleno literally translates to stuffed Chile which it is not stuffed, so they should take it off their menu if they aren't going to serve it correctly anymore. When I asked the manager about it he seemed annoyed that I wasn't happy. To be honest the rest of their food isn't wonderful or worth coming as much as we did for the Chile rellenos. I won't be back unless I find out that they have started making them correctly again.

Service was good! Food was good at the time.. It wasn't until the morning everything unfolded. Having to go to the bathroom roughly 30 times in a day is unheard. I have a 100 degree temp and terrible stomach cramps . I've never had food poisoning before but I think that's what you would call it. Idk if there is a sanitary issue or what but this is awful. Won't be back .

New location, great food.Have always had terrific service, too.Take-out beer being available is a plus.

Really wanted to like this place, but the food was bland and greasy. Salsa tasted like tomato sauce. Service was not impressive. Very disappointed.

Excellent authentic mexican has finally arrived in Roseville. We can recommend the Chicken El Sombrero (outstanding mole) Alambres, and Chimichangas.

What more can you say than great food and wonderful big patio! I give this location the edge over the Rice street El Sombrero because it is a little less busy has this big patio and the food is just a touch better! The staff are all great and service is prompt. Come here and eat!

Food and service very good. I previously rated this place and gave it 1 star when I meant 5. I'll be back for more.

This is a family run business with solid if not adventurous offerings. Drinks are good. Portions are generous. They make an excellent guacamole.

Delicious! We love the one in Little Canada so when we saw they opened one even closer to us, we had to try. Staff is incredibly friendly and the food was very good! We got the queso dip, Texas Fajitas and two large margaritas. The food was good and really hit the spot. We're so glad El Sombrero is closer to us and intend on going there as much as we can!

We ate on the patio which was very comfortable with the umbrella to shield us from most of the sun's rays. Our server was very attentive without being overly so. The meals were very tasty and served hot! The chips and salsa were also very good.
