Closed indefinitely Just stopped by and the doors had signs that said they were closed. Sad to see this as you can't find good record stores anymore.

I had a total opposite experience than my fellow yelpers at this place. I spoke for quite a bit with the guy behind the counter as I made my purchase and we had a nice conversation about artist, albums, and just enjoying the social aspect of spinning vinyl. He told me he had been doing this for over 20 years. I actually really enjoyed him. They had decent prices on the merchandise and I was happy to snag a few to add to my growing collection.

I stumbled across this gem feeling defeated that Palace Theatre doesn't have box office hours only to find Eclipse sells tickets to Palace and First Ave! I purchase 1st presses, or the 1st good press, for my boyfriend and the man working was incredibly helpful. I ended up walking out with 2 albums and my Phantogram tickets. Their selection was great and purchasing my tickets was a breeze. Everyone who strolled through the doors had such a good energy and he treated everyone like a friend.

I want to give it a lower rating, but don't want to start em off negative right out of the gate...Call me crazy, but when customers, patrons, visitors whatever enter your place of business, its customary to at least greet them. I've heard a simple hello goes along way. Otherwise it just makes for an awkward encounter. I don't expect to be fawned over or have someone have to hold my hand- but at least greet a person and don't act like your customers are such an inconvenience. Maybe we didn't look like serious buyers or didn't look cool enough for vinyl. It was us and the guy behind the counter. I just felt completely unwelcome and like we were bothering him the whole time. As we were walking out, we briefly made eye contact and then he quickly looked away like he was waiting to see whether we had left yet. Just socially awkward.I find it funny that all these places want to be tweeted or liked on facebook, but god forbid if you're in person; actual verbal communication is just unheard of.The store looked like it had a pretty decent selection of records. I'll say record just because I don't feel hip enough to say vinyl....If I had something to play records on, I might have considered buying a few. They were reasonably priced and also sold 45's.It's great to see new places occupying the dead zone of St. Paul, but with that vibe, I have to wonder how long they will be around. Best of luck with that!

Eclipse serves as a pretty cool record store on Wabasha Street in Downtown Saint Paul. Even though I don't spin, my DJ friends have taught me how to appreciate the art of digging for break beats. And because of them, I'll drop by one whenever I can! I think a simple pros and cons list will suffice:Highlights:-They always have dope music playing. -Prices seem fair.-I think I saw a turntable, so you can listen to records.-Eyed some 45s!Things That Could Improve:-Selection is lacking a bit. -Being unfriendly is not a negative, but not a positive for me.-Records could be better organized. There was a section that just said AAA, BBB, CCC, etc.. and I was a bit confused. So, overall, it's probably not my favorite record store, but I'll definitely give it another shot the next time I'm in the area and buy a record or two for my DJ friends.

Finally "Eclipse" has re-opened from being closed down due to the "Light Rail" that has destroyed most small business' in an effort to improve what, I am not exactly sure...I am told as a part of "Urban Renewal" ECLIPSE (named after a 1973 PINK FLOYD song) has relocated to Downtown St. Paul conveniently located right next to the Amsterdam & right across the street from Macy's Parking Ramp. They have a ton of Vinyl Record LPs !!!!Tell 'Em The ZERo sent ya.

I don't want to say anything odious, nasty or personal like other wierdos on here other than that he's a pleasant dude...wheef. Ok, good little shop, non trendy or pretentiously priced. Bring in good to mind condition LPs and get a good trade.

I like what these guys are doing, and I like where they are doing it. I had no issues with staff either. I actually prefer to be left alone while browsing the vinyl. My issue with the place has to do with selection and price, e.g. Not stellar and not cheap. I get that certain titles call for premium prices, but not every title falls into that category. Selection was a bit thin too, at least when I visited, though of course selection is a fluid thing in a used record store.I will be back, and I will buy vinyl here because I love what these guys are doing and where they are doing it. Maybe with sometime in the new location and things will really be rocking? I hope so.

I was super excited to go to my first record shop in the twin cities on my way home from work one day and I got there and had no clue what I was looking for, just browsing. I ended up finding 3 of Taylor Swifts albums that I've been looking for online on vinyl! Super happy and can't wait to get more!!
