I have been looking for a Thai place ever since my favorite one went higher in prices and smaller in portions. Honestly we were on our way to burger place and all of a sudden we see this restaurant we haven't seen before and Thai sounded really good!We were lucky to find street parking and when we entered we were greeted and didn't have a reservation but were able to get seated. It definitely felt a tiny bit more fancy than your usual casual place. I decided to try their green curry and added shrimp as my protein. I also went for the level one spice which did still have a slight kick but nothing that was overpowering. I thought that spice level was actually perfect because it enhanced the re rest of the flavors. The curry flavor was SO SO SO DELICIOUS! I could eaten a whole bucket honestly. It was such a flavorful dish and thought the shrimp were cooked perfectly as well and it paired perfectly. For dessert we enjoyed the fried banana slices with a toasted coconut ice cream which was out of this world. Look I would describe myself as a person that falls on the emotional side and when I took a bite of the fried banana slices with toasted coconut ice cream my eyes started swelling up with tears. It was a dessert that looked so simple but was exceptional in flavor. Service was great and I thought the ambiance was very modern with delicious food and a perfect place for a date night. Now we recommend this place to any friends who are craving Thai. I know we will be back here and hopefully this week because this cold weather makes me want to have something warm !

We've been searching for a new Thai place for a while in the Twin Cities. The place I used to go to in downtown St Paul is now not as good and more expensive. True Thai in Minneapolis close lid years ago now. Been trying to find a replacement ever since. Coconut Thai in St. Paul is it!Let's start with the excellent food. I had the Thai basil fried rice with tofu. Best I've ever had with an insane amount for leftovers. Heat level was perfect for me at the "mild" level. Wife got shrimp green curry and it was tremendous as well. However, the highlight of the meal was dessert. Fried bananas with coconut ice cream and chocolate sauce. Unreal. The ice cream had real coconut toasted shavings and the bananas were cooked to perfection. Seriously one of the better desserts I've ever had. Served was super nice and the pace was welcoming. Let's talk about value though. We got all of this for roughly $60 INCLUDING tip. It's like I went back in time 15 years for value. We'll be back many times!!!

First off they make 8 different curry dishes that are the exact same price. The veggies in each curry dish changes but not the price. You should be able to then change the sauce to pair with any of the other 7 curry dishes curry sauce right. Especially in a scratch kitchen ....this isn't a buffet where it's scoop and serve .....everything is made to order. If all the dishes veggy combos cost the same why can't you swap the curry sauce if all the curry dishes are priced the same? I didn't ask for anything which would deviate from their pricing only a curry sauce change. OMG are you kidding me. The web site talks about how prestigious their chef is and their experience abroad before cooking at a crappy restaraunt in WBL. I asked for a simple change, keep in mind all the curries listed are the same price no matter which sauce you choose. Only the protein option changes the dish price but all the dishes are the same for each protein. So this should be a no brainer. I asked to have a different curry sauce on my veggies because I did not like the veggies the curry I wanted was paired up with. I asked for a combo that was exactly the same price on the menu. They said "no we can't do that ...because it changes how each vegetable takes different time to cook. But I wasn't asking for a different grouping of veggies...I was only asking for a different sauce which doesn't change the cooking time for the veggies. THIS IS BULLSHIT. I said I'm not changing the combination of veggies only asking for a different curry sauce. They still said no giving some bullshit excuse again. No real cook or chef should have a problem changing the sauce especially if they are as experienced as listed on the web site. THIS IS REALLY DUMB!!! Then they finally said we can do it but it will be $3.50 for each veggie change that would have made my meal $14.00 more because they are too stubborn to make the customer happy by doing something extremely frikkin easy.I have eaten at hundreds of Asian restaraunts much nicer and never experienced this stupidity. My entree would have went from $21.00 to $35.00 are you nuts. We walked out and left. NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL.

Delicious Dinner at Coconut Thai!I recently dined at Coconut Thai and was impressed by the exceptional food service and ambience! The food was outstanding - I savored every bite of my Fried Cream Cheese Wontons, Fresh Thai Spring Rolls, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Masaman Curry with mock duck. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the presentation was visually appealing. The service was top-notch! Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The staff ensured our glasses were always full and made excellent recommendations. The ambience was cozy and intimate, perfect for a night out with friends or a date. The decor was modern and sleek, with a touch of Thai elegance. The background music was soft and relaxing, creating a warm atmosphere. What truly sets Coconut Thai apart is the personalized experience. You can customize your dishes to your liking, choosing your preferred protein and level of spiciness.Overall, Coconut Thai exceeded my expectations. If you're a Thai food enthusiast or seeking a memorable dining experience, look no further!

We stopped in for lunch (group of seven), and had a nice table to ourselves. It was a great stop for a medium-duration lunch, and the portions were generous!I ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, which were massive (and kept well as leftovers). Their satisfying crunch was refreshing on a hot afternoon. Of course, I also had the panang curry, which was good and hot and flavorful, so it was a perfect pairing.

Small restaurant right on grave Ave St. Paul- Surprisingly busy for a Monday lunch time - very loud in here and echoed noiseService was a little slow but they were friendly enoughFood portions are basically dinner entrees so be aware if ordering at lunch you will be taking home leftovers The Penang red curry is delicious but I was not a fan of the drunken noodles The spring rolls were excellent but the fried egg rolls were not a favorite The pineapple fried rice looks amazing and if you like sweet with savory you will enjoy itI would come back here if craving Thai food in the area

One of the best thai places to go to in Saint Paul. Great ambience and the seating area. I never really had to wait to be seated here. Their signature pineapple fried rice and pad kee mao are definitely the best! The spice levels are good too, i ordered a 4 level spicu pad kee mao and really enjoyed the added flavor to the food. So order accordingly. Always love the food and great service!

We found this place while looking for a quick meal after music lessons at Music on Grand. Overall, the service was really good. The food was very good but very salty. We didn't love the fried tofu (way to overfried), but the sauce was good. We had the drunken noodles and pad thai and overall, great meal! We can see why their takeout business is bumpin'! We'd go back (but request LOW salt).
