I go here for the 'Greatest Comedy Show Ever' every first Saturday of the month. The host (of the comedy show), Nick is great & very funny! The other comedians are decent as well! For $5 it's good entertainment, (can't really complain) if you don't have plans on a Saturday night. The bartender is great! Only 1 bartender & he does a great job handling all the drinks as well as all the food orders! The drinks are always great! He can make pretty much anything. Hard working guy!Drinks are pretty cheap. They have GREAT bar food! I usually get the fries with seasoned sour cream & the dry spice chicken wings (seasoned very well). This time we tried a new chipotle special of the month wing. It was really good. Just the right amount of sauce & spice. Food is reasonably priced! It's a smaller venue and seating is pretty tight. If you want a good spot get there early! I believe doors open an hour prior. Also they have a parking lot but with Club Underground being under an actual bar (Spring Street Tavern) & this event is on a Saturday night parking gets kind of tight in the lot. There is plenty of street parking. Usually always have a good time here.

This place weirded me out. It's a dank, cold basement with furniture a frat house must have no longer wanted. Very much a local spot with its own crowd. We walked into a comedy show with a $10 cover and the comedians, while apparently a favorite for the regulars, were not funny. I was ready to pay $10 to leave. A couple of my friends got kicked out because they were having a quiet conversation about whether or not they wanted to leave. I guess the zealous bouncer made that decision for us. Saving grace is that the beer is cheap, so if that's what you're looking for over environment and charm (or literally anything else), here you go.

If I had to count how many times I've been to Club Underground for shows, I'd need a crowd of people for fingers and toes. Music in the Twin Cities travels in small circles, and the one I'm connected with gets a lot of time at CU.It's dark, it's always freezing, the bar isn't always fully stocked with what they have upstairs, and the seating is... interesting. Those couches have got to go, seriously.CU's sound system is huge for the space and remarkably loud, so bring earplugs. They also tend to book anything that breathes, so if you can fill your entire canal with earplugs, you might be motivated to do so.Bands: fair warning, there is no backstage or protected area of any sort for your gear. Things get knocked into by drunken dancers, and other bands will be shoving their gear into yours to try and get as much of it out of the way as possible. This isn't the time to bring your Stradivarius.Still, there are good people at Club Underground and I appreciate their willingness to give new bands a place to cut their teeth. They also mix the sound well, so it's bright and clear when you hear someone's horrid off-rhythm bass. If I could magically transport the spirit and the sound somewhere else, I would. For now, well, I'll both smile and cringe when I inevitably end up at CU for another show.

Woah. I had such a great time here at the Monday Night Comedy Show.I really wasn't sure what to expect, it could have gone either way. The tickets were $4 for the comedy show. A line-up of varied amateur comics would be showing off their skills for the night.Club Underground, was indeed undeground. You enter the building and take a left immediately downstairs. There's both a bar upstairs and downstairs. If you've never been to a dive bar before, this place may bother your tender sensibiliites, but since I've been to every hole in the wall in town, I didn't even blink when the bartender said he didn't have any cold PBRs in the fridge for me. Whatever, I got myself a Lonestar instead, problem solved. The bartender's no-nonsense, rugged, aloof demeanour might scare off most people -he's nearly on par with Club Jager's bartenders, who, of course, are the Kings of acrimonious chill. Don't expect flirtatious conversations, is all I'm saying. Personally, I'm fond of the chilliness. lol. The place wasn't packed, but there appeared to be a pretty fair turnout. Mostly locals and comics and their friends. I really enjoyed all the acts even though not everyone was all that funny. It was just refreshing to see people who love comedy, do comedy. Never been to anything like this before. Really recommend for people to come check it out. At some point during the show, all of a sudden, there was happy hour too -so $3-$4 mixed drinks! Had a great time and I'm looking forward to going back again. There are some resident comics on staff and there are random and different comics that perform too. It's not always the same people so it can either be a huge hit or miss.

A local spot for some, I may not see it quite as fondly as some. I can appreciate the price of a drink being reasonable, but I felt the atmosphere could be more welcoming.

I've been here so many times over the years, and it never has changed. Dance music, rock bands, comedy shows. It's not a bad venue, the upstairs always feels like a bar in the middle of nowhere Minnesota. At least the sound guys are pretty competent here.

I usually go to this place to check out live music that is "off the beaten path" for me. The type of crowd depends on the bands playing, so that makes things interesting. The staff seems to be cool too (they look like they could easily be members of the crowd).

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I have gone to this place several times in the past year to see a friend's band. The first time I went I felt sorry for the bartender because she seemed like she must be new and barely knew what to do. A year later, same bartender, I realize she's just that incompetent. Also rude and clueless about customer service, she is a good fit for this establishment which has an entire staff of unfriendly, impatient, and largely incapable servers. My experiences with the various waitresses and bartenders has been consistently the poorest I have ever experienced.
