Food and snow are always awesome here. Trail comes right to their back door!

Pretty nice and fancy for Barnes, WI! Great salad bar with lots of options (and comes with entrees). Everyone at the table was happy with their food. I got the pork loin and they overcooked the glaze, making it sticky and thick, while the pork was dry. I would give my entree alone 3 stars. But my son had some of the best kids menu mac n cheese we've ever had. I'd order it as an adult portion next time if I could, along with the salad bar! 5 star mac n cheese, 4 star salad bar, and 3 star pork loin averages out to 4 stars!

We make this a regular stop when we are in the area. It's usually on snowmobile because the trail comes right to their back door. We normally eat at the bar and we had scallops this time and they were excellent. We had great service and after talking to the bartender/server we found out she and her husband are the owners. She was very friendly and took time to talk to us about the restaurant. They have a great place here and prices are reasonable for good food.

I'm an adventurous person, so I like to try new places while on vacation, and there were few options for breakfast, so we opted for this steakhouse near our family cabin one morning. The server didn't know the (small) menu very well, so when we were ordering our breakfasts, we had to be on top of which options we wanted (which toast, how do you want your eggs, etc) rather than be prompted, which was only slightly annoying. The worst part was the food. First, it took 35 minutes to receive food at all (we were one of 2 tables and the other table had already received their food, so I don't know why it took so long). My husband's pancakes came out a good 10 minutes before anything else did, so by the time the rest of our food came out, I was starving. 45 minutes after ordering, I received a hard and extremely cheesy mess that they call a scrambler. The (clearly from frozen) hashbrowns were so over cooked and hard they were unpalatable. The extreme amount of grease and cheese overshadowed the dried-out hashbrown bottom so I shoveled down the eggiest parts with my toast. My husband's eggs were NOT cooked to order; he ordered his 3 eggs over hard and they came back so runny the white part wasn't even fully cooked on one of them. The decor is nice and the location works, but the food is terrible. Perhaps they keep their best cooks for lunch and dinner but we drove by several times during our 2 week stay and hardly ever saw a car parked in their lot while the "open" sign was on. Not a good sign. If locals don't dig it, stay away, right? Before we left, they offered me a to-go box and I refused. I muttered under my breath to my husband that it was hardly good enough to take home for the dog, and the two adults at the bar (with drinks, despite it being 11am) must have heard me, because they said, "thanks for coming" over their shoulders as we walked out. I'm assuming they own the place? Couldn't tell. We won't be back.

Good food in the barnes area. Prefer this over the Windsor. Always had good food. Sure it can take some time to get your food. But it's northern Wisconsin. It's great. Decor is great. Love the fireplace

OMG have the pan seared cod on Friday Night. First time here, won't be our last! We were very happy with the small but very tasty soup and salad bar! Amazing chunky blue cheese dressing and great options on the salad bar. The bread and butter sauce that they serve soft and warm is literally to die for! The Cod, the cod... It was so good! As busy as it was our server was very attentive. My hash browns were not good but my husbands loaded ones were. Reasonable prices for dinner and a nice atmosphere for a Friday night.

This is a nice place to have in the Northwoods and close to our cabin We like having multiple options to choose from on the wine menu, and the fresh salad bar, nightly specials etc. Most of the entrees are pretty well executed, and they make good pizzas too.Owners Scott and Colleen are nice people, and keep the place very clean.2 thumbs up !!

The cream of broccoli soup was tasty. The salad bar was small and one type of lettuce. I ordered the Kobe chop steak for $18.00 (Medium Rare) with truffled mashed potatoes and season vegetables. What I received was a mediocre burger smothered with barely cooked Onions on top of mashed potatoes and no vegetables. The plate was a small triangle and the food spilled over when I cut it. I asked for the vegetables and I received three small Brussels spouts. The plate was definitely not worth the $18.00 and I should have just ordered the burger with out a bun. I have had Kobe and Waygu beef plenty of times and what was served did not taste like it. I was highly disappointed in this choice on the dinner menu. I opted not to get the Thursday special which was Petite sirloin with Truffled fries. My mother did get this and she stated that the steak was very tough. My dad got the "Hand tossed" pizza and it looked like premade crust. I had a bite and it tasted like Frozen pizza from the store that had the toppings added to it. The service was very good and the establishment was cute and clean. I hope that they will be able to change the food because it sounded wonderful on the menus, but was not good quality.

Service was just ok, slightly over priced and we had hoped for a more welcoming environment. Nicely remodeled.
