Captain Dan's Crows Nest

Staff at the bar are just unfriendly as can be. One would think after all the shut down that they would be happy to have people there ordering. Not this place they are rude inconsiderate acting like it's a bother when you stop to order a drink or something to eat. Too busy gossiping with the locals about personal affairs all the time I personally would never goes to this place again nor would I recommend it.

Came in Wednesday afternoon (8.2.17) on my way back from Up North. Needed some food and some wi-fi to crank a few e mails out. I was the only customer, and there was one woman behind the bar. I gave her a bright, "Hi there, how are you doing?" She gave me, "hi." No smile. No nothing. I sat down at the bar, and let the silence marinate. She stared at me. I smiled at her and stared back. I was tempted to wait it out, but it just got to be too uncomfortable, so I asked with a hint of sarcasm, "Can I see a menu?!" She reaches in front of her, puts a menu down in front of me and starts to walk away. I ask, "Can I have a Surly Furious?" She stops, turns, and starts to pour one. "Do you have wi-fi?" She doesn't hesitate, "No." Pause. "Well, we do, but I don't know the password. . . (puts the beer down) Do you know what you want?"Now officially done with trying to get something friendly going, I coldly answered that I'd just have the beer, and slid the menu back without any further kindness. There was no point in eating if that time couldn't also be spent working. I'd go on to McDonald's and buy an iced coffee to get their wi-fi (they were wicked friendly, btw - so refreshing - and excellent wi-fi).After I gulped the beer down, she came back around and somewhat nicely asked if I'd like another. I was again gruff and asked for the tab. Tempted to leave just the $.50 change as tip, I traded it out for a buck and started for the door. As I put my backpack on my shoulder, she gaily said, "Have a nice day!"I turned around from the door, and matter of fact stated, "It's probably better if you make a guest feel welcome when they arrive, rather than when they're leaving."Dudes like me always need wi-fi and food up north. Not everyone needs friendliness and good customer service, but this guy does. Sounds like from the reviews this is an on-going problem. Bummer. Such a great location.

Don't wast your time. Mediocre food, cranky wait staff. You might inconvenience them by stopping by for a meal or a drink.

Good place to eat and get together. Service is usually great, but it can get slow, but every place can. Has a separate room for pool and darts but it's right next to the bar. Also a huge screened in patio that you can sit and eat out there or go out for a smoke. Very nice place and fun things to look at. It's right on knife lake too.

I know they are going through a change of ownership, but tonight was just stupid. I stopped by on my way to the cabin, had a two beers before ordering a burger as i sipped a third one.35 MINUTES LATER--No burger!The response was "it's coming, do you see how many tickets we have?"Yes, I did. they had FIVE. Yes, five tickets. I am a professional Sous Chef, and this production wouldn't make out of fry box a MCDowells.I paid for the meal I never got served, so some lucky employee gets to eat dinner on me. Thanks for making me stop in town before I get there. Well done.

Rude bartender. Extremely rude.Stopped with friends on 9/18/2021.Didnt stay for lunch thanks to the jaded bartender.

Avoid at all costs! Visited on 08-22-2022... and if I could give it 0 stars I would! This place has the rudest staff I have ever encountered! After enjoying a wonderful day at Fish Lake a group of friends and I decided to grab a bite here. Needless to say our great day came to a screeching halt upon arrival starting with the bartender who seemed to have "friends" at the bar as she acted acted like it was a huge inconvenience to stop talking with them to make us drinks. Given this, we decided it would be best to grab a table in the dining room...BAD IDEA. The waitress was actually nastier than the bartender! Never have I felt so unwelcomed at a restaurant. It was so bad in fact that we left without even ordering. To sum it up, I have no idea on earth how this place stays open. I highly encourage the owner to clean house and bring in a crew who appreciates new customers or just business in general.

Dont waste your time or money. Terrible service, food was subpar, orders were forgotten and drinks were never filled, felt like everyone there hated their jobs

Big burger that tasted great, tater tots how I ordered them, good soup, and great serving size of mini tacos. It seems that everywhere else in Mora is only giving 6 mini tacos for their appetizers, here not only was my Burger double the size but the amount of mini tacos too!
